Perfect little spot to grab some tacos on this beautiful breezy 70degree weather. Service was quick with a counter order. Small inside seating with decent outdoor seating. The $1.99 taco Tuesday carnitas street tacos were perfectly seasoned. Wish the asada street tacos were also $1.99 as well, but if you're a fan of chicken and pork. $1.99 Tuesday sure does make a hell of a deal. Top it off with a modelo and you got some good food.

Camarones a La Diabla (what was left of it)

Food was great, service is fast, staff are pleasant, restrooms for customers, and right off the freeway. Parking isn't fantastic but street parking is accessible. This is a great option when traveling and needs a quick sit down meal. We ordered camarones a la diabla, quessibirria, asada fries, and a shrimp taco. Everything was great

Ambiance Really isn't any, very old structure. Use to be a Korean taco place. 6 small tables inside very small and narrow restaurant, people in line waiting to order are inches away from tables when busy. Outside patio has newer iron tables and concrete slabs. Parking can be challenging. Rate 3 Customer Service U go to small counter and order. It was lunch time and busy. Staff friendly. Food comes out fairly fast. Taco Combo Birria taco very good, rich consume broth was used, carne asada taco very good. Rate 5+ Rice and beans ok Rate 4 Posole Very good, comes with shredded cabbage, onions and radishes. Rate 5 Value I feel dishes are a bit overpriced. This building is extremely dated and small so I don't see high overhead. Rate 4 I would return for birria tacos.

10/10 would recommend! My husband and I love this restaurant. The food is always delicious and packed with flavor. The staff are so sweet and friendly. Very welcoming even when busy. The outside seating is a plus! Great way to enjoy the day and great food.

Mini taco combo plate was very good! Their Asada is flavorful and they have really good portion sizes. I also appreciate how they give complimentary chips & salsa/toppings. The shop is very cute and cozy. They only have 4 tables inside but more seating available outside. The cashiers have always been very hospitable. The only thing to beware of is parking. They have 3 reserved parking spots but I prefer to park nearby on the street which is usually available. I'm a returning customer and definitely recommend!

El Rincón is my absolute favorite spot for Mexican food in Sacramento! Everything I've tried here has been delicious, super flavorful, fresh, and made with love. Their prices are great too, which makes it even better. You get generous portions and real quality without breaking the bank. The staff is always kind, and it just has that welcoming, neighborhood feel. Their parking lot is tiny, but I always order to-go as does many people it seems so it's really not a big deal. If you haven't been yet, definitely go, you won't be disappointed!

    Lunch with Corina

Corina and I ate lunch here today after the No Kings protest at the state capitol. I searched Yelp for about 200+ places to eat for Saturday and this little place really stuck out as being afordable. Many of the places closer to the capitol are going to cost 2 people at least $60 and some twice that much for lunch! We split a 2 taco asada combo plate with a couple of cold Modelas. Wow pretty excellent! The tacos were were very large and warped in thick yellow corn tortillas slightly fried. Lunch was $30+, we are very stoked, and we will return. In the late 1990s I lived a few blocks to the West on T St. This was a little gas station back then. Too bad as I would have eaten here a few times a week back then. 5 stars!

I am always on the hunt for some good, authentic Mexican food. And even though I don't venture out to this part of Sacramento very often, I figure why not try a place I haven't been before. This takes me to "El Rincon Mexican Restaurant" that has been opened for business dating back to the summer of 2021. Located at the corner of Alhambra Blvd & T St near the 80/50 connector in East Sacramento, this is where "Tako Korean BBQ" once stood and prior to that was a gas station for many years. After a 5K walk, my stomach was starting to rumble and had cravings for some hearty Mexican food (which led me to this place). Parking out in this neck of the woods isn't too bad as many of the surrounding areas are residential. However, they do have two very small lots (surrounding the building) as well as a public restroom (towards the rear right of the building). My lady and I arrived around 4:15pm (during the afternoon of Sunday 3/23/2025) as this was more or less an early dinner that would carry us through the late-afternoon and evening. Considering the rather unique and obscure quirkiness of this building (considering it was originally built as a gas station), the interior layout isn't that big. But there are several tables for dining (with colorful tablecloths), metallic chairs, and a salsa bar. There are two large LED TV's displaying the menu of options to choose from. Everything from tacos, burritos, combos, and kids meals. As for the exterior, this place also boasts two separate outdoor patios as I highly recommend eating outside (weather permitting) with relaxing views of Midtown/East Sacramento. Since the portions here looked huge, my lady and I ended up splitting an order of their "Birria Plate" which is shredded and seasoned birria meat complete with warm corn tortillas, rice, and beans. The salsa bar is also complimentary and has fresh chips, mild/hot red & green salsas, and other add-ons including lime wedges, radishes, & jalapeños. After placing our order, we sat outside (which ended up being a beautiful spring day). Our food is then brought out to us in less than 7 minutes; plate is piping hot as the entire presentation was beautifully well-executed. As for the overall flavor, texture, and spice factor of the birria, everything tasted above average while they were quite generous with the meat. The only gripe I had was that the birria plate did not come with any of the Consommé broth. No big deal as the flavor tasted fine without it. The Mexican rice was moist and full of flavor with the roja sauce. And the beans were made well but did have a significant amount of cheese on them. Again, not a big deal but after going to dozens upon dozens of Mexican eateries, I can be a little picky of how a plate comes out. All in all, "El Rincon Mexican Restaurant" gets the job done and is an above average place to enjoy quality Mexican food at a decent price. It is by no means a fancy place but this is more of a hole-in-the-wall establishment than anything else. They also have fairly generous hours of operation being open Monday through Saturday from 10am-9pm and Sunday from 9am-8pm. When you factor in excellent location, good quality food, above average customer service, and decent prices (for this part of town), I am giving this place four stars.

Ground beef carne asada.... not good.
    R. P.

Very poorly done food... lots of corners cut with the ingredients . I ordered the Carne Asada burrito. I would describe it as salty ground beef. The entire burrito just is a giant salt bomb and has very little flavor or texture. This is the second time I've been here and both times were very similar experience in terms of the quality of food, cleanliness of the restaurant, and awkward service. For 13 or $14 you might as well go to Mezcal Grill and order their steak burrito to go. It's pretty confusing all the good reviews.... I just don't see it as being decent Mexican food.

This is a review for a to go order--- I ordered at the restaurant after a busy day at the river with my dog! This restaurant is located on T street. It's very small. I'm not going to lie I felt overwhelmed going in there to even order. The tables are very close together. They did have nice outside seating! I ordered a chicken California burrito! To order I just went to the window and placed my order. They have a huge thing of plastic up (probably from Covid) so it was rather hard to hear because of that. I sat outside while I waited for my burrito! It probably took 20 minutes, they were pretty busy! The burrito was good and had a lot of flavor. I also got a Mexican Coke which is my favorite! I would come back to eat in person next time. As long as it was outside- as the inside is very small and overwhelming!

    Taco Tuesday can't be beat!

This is a fun little (and I mean little) spot to grab some no frills Mexican faire. Located on a rather challenging 'triangle' corner which makes it one of those places you SEE it and then realize you are passing it. Parking is super limited, so expect to park on the street and walk a few feet, and maybe have to cross some heavy traffic. Come on, it'll be worth it. The building is an old (again, super tiny) gas station which is why it is situated where it is. There are a several metal tables outside, and even two bar height seating areas along each side of the building. Plus a few small tables inside. Order at the counter, take your number, grab some chips and salsa at the salsa bar (inside), and then go find yourself a table. They will bring your food to you. We came in for the 'Taco Tuesday' special for lunch which truly can't be beat. $1.99 for either seasoned shredded chicken or carnitas. We ordered 3 of each. Tacos were double layered corn street taco tortilla size, with onion and cilantro, some limes to squeeze on them if you like, and a couple radishes finished off the plate. We used some of the salsa on ours...We agreed that both seasoned chicken and the carnitas meats were excellent. The salsas (both green and red) were very good, and not overly spicy. Personally, as lovers of spicy foods, we would have liked them to be more intense. Overall, this is a fantastic place to grab some really good Mexican food for a super affordable price, at a kitschy fun spot.

I've seen this particular location be a couple things over the years, but I really like how El Rincon Mexican restaurant is here to stay. There's parking on the surrounding streets and it's easy to walk to. Be aware of the 1 hour parking limit. The menu is delicious and when we went, we got the Asada tacos And I also went on a taco Tuesday so I got different types of chicken tacos. I really appreciate it the salsa bar with various salsa and condiments to go with the food. With our order came some chips. They were really good. I highly recommend that you check out this Mexican restaurant because the food is good and the vibes are awesome.

El Rincon!! My wife and I recently moved to the East Sac/ Midtown border area (technically it's East Sac but doesn't feel like East Sac lol). And being so close to El Rincon I've heard nothing but great things! This taqueria is walking distance from us. Moreover, this past weekend I was getting VERY tired of leftover turkey, stuffing, and all that Thanksgiving jazz so I decided to give El Rincon a try. El Rincon is located at the intersection of Alhambra and T St. Parking is extremely limited but there is a decent amount of street parking available that is surrounding the restaurant. There are both indoor and outdoor dining options, with not many patrons eating outside due to the cold (at least it was cold for Northern California, don't hate on me East Coast and Midwest 'Elite' friends!) However, in my opinion El Rincon reads more as a takeout place. Once inside I ordered a California burrito, meaning steak, French fries, sour cream, Pico de gallo, and guacamole in a tortilla. For a very reasonable "low teens" cost my order included chips and items from their salsa bar! I was extremely pleased as I can't stand taquerias that charge extra for chips and salsa! I grabbed two salsa "rojos" and one salda "verde," then waited outside for my order. A staff member brought out my burrito EXTREMELY quickly! First off- they didn't have to do that!! It was very nice of them to bring my order TO me considering I wasn't standing indoors. Secondly, even though El Rincon was pretty mobbed due to the lunch rush they got out my order FAST! Which was also great because your boy was starving (what else is new lol). I rushed home, took my first bite, and WOW... absolutely DELICIOUS!! I forgot to take pictures of my actual burrito because it was SO good! Not too greasy but incredibly flavorful! And their salsa... fantastic!! Writing this review has me salivating for more! Overall it was fun getting to try somewhere I'd never been before and that's so close to me. Portions are nice and I appreciated how they hustled to get my order out! (Sometimes that can be a bad thing, but in this case it wasn't!) I've read mixed reviews about El Rincon not being consistently good, but that was not my experience at all! I can't wait to go back and get another California burrito (or two... or three).

I visited this past Saturday and it was quite busy inside like it always is. The restaurant is large enough to fit a lot of people, so finding a seat isn't an issue. I always get loads of both the white and red pickled onions, and some salsa to go with my chips. They offer many sides to choose from so that anyone can customize their meal to their liking. And then I got to the reception area found that there was already a pretty big crowd at around the 5:30 PM or so I guess a lot of early birds come to eat there on Sunday. The receptionist asked for how many and said you'd be like a 20 minute wait and there was chairs where people were waiting but it was only like a 15 minute wait. The server was fast with the chips and salsa and ice water and then soon the waiter came and took my order. He was really quick and witty, fun to talk to. What I really enjoyed was as the noise of the table Near quieted down and they left. I saw a young man cleaning up the table and getting it ready for the next group of people. He was dressed really nice and had a tie on. Having been in restaurants most of my life I said to myself, I bet you he works with the owners or something. And I said to him, are your related to people that own the place ? he said my parents own this place. He was very friendly and polite. He told me a tiny bit about the restaurant and how everything had been since 1970, much older than he was, he was only a sophomore in high school I think. I never really got his name, but I was kind of proud of him because he was working hard at his family's restaurant. I ordered probably something bigger than I could eat because I had to take leftovers home, but it was really a tasty meal, and they're coming out with more chips and salsa without being asked, probably didn't help as well as a second lemonade. It's really impressive when you have a well oiled machine and it appeared to me that the people that worked there seem to be happy so that's always a good sign of good management. Several years back, I worked in the restaurant industry doing maintenance and repairs so I went to a lot of different restaurants and saw a lot of things so I know what to look for. I'm definitely gonna come back when my brother and his wife come up from the Bay Area my friend Ivan he'll wanna go there for lunch or dinner I know. He's kind of a picky eater and was born in Mexico, but I think he'll be impressed with this place.

There is a lot of seating with booths that easily seat 6 people around the periphery and tables with chairs in the main floor area. Our server was good and attentive and the water glasses were kept filled. Everyone was happy with the dishes they ordered. They have a children's section on the menu with very generous portions. I loved their creamy refried beans. I ordered carnitas quesadillas and was very pleased. I highly recommend this restaurant.

They have a brunch menu but we both ended up ordering from the main menu. She had Camarones de Borrachos and I had La Torta Gorda Carnitas. Both were extremely flavorful. The Camarones was a new recipe apparently. More chipotle flavored with a slight kick. From the looks the shrimp were very plump. My Torta was great. Bread was nice and butter and the carnitas were magnificent as advertised by our friendly waiter, Dustin. I also had a Horchatalada which was a sweet way to wash down this heavy food. Great experience and i cant wait to come back and try something else.

From what I could see, the restaurant looked really inviting and I appreciated that they have a dog friendly patio. I always have my pup with me and that is the main reason we chose this location. I liked the style and design of the interior of the restaurant and overall it had a very nice vibrant feel. The staff was also warm and friendly. Unfortunately, the food was a mixed bag. The Torta Gorda was the biggest disappointment. The meat was very bland and seemed barely seasoned while the bread had become soggy by the time we got it home. There just wasn't much to it. The mole also missed the mark for me. The sauce lacked the rich complex flavors I expect from a good mole and the chicken was noticeably dry. The rice, beans and esquites were ok. The nachos on the other hand were quite good. They were flavorful and satisfying and although I thought they were a little heavy-handed with the radishes, I mostly enjoyed the flavors. For for three people the bill came to around $100 after tip which felt a bit steep, especially considering the overall quality of the meal. While this visit didn't live up to my expectations, I'm willing to give Polanco Cantina another shot and probably dine in next time. I have a much better idea now of which dishes to steer clear of and the restaurant itself seemed promising so I'm hoping the experience is improved when the food is enjoyed fresh from the kitchen.

Plenty of free chips and unlimited dips. Hot sauces, salsa are all different flavors and hit the taste buds hard!! Everyone was checking on us every few mins! Felt like we were eating in their home. So loving. Food here always been top notch. We ordered many times (via DoorDash) but sitting there and eating the food was a different vibe. Ordered a few different tacos, tostada and super nachos (with chicken). Their meat was seasoned to perfection. Actual flavors and not just salt. A bit pricey for each taco but the portion of taco is huge and honestly two did the job for me. Give it a try

And I cannot express in words how excited I was for this location to open up a few years back. So if you're tired from shopping head on over to the restaurant for delicious tacos! Or drop in for taco Tuesday when their street tacos are a little over $2 each. I usually order the carnitas (drooling, has the right amount of soft and crispy bites), carne asada, shrimp and fish tacos! I have also tried the quesadilla which is packed with meat so there's bang for my buck. They put a good amount of meat on the tacos and toppings as well, so I get full pretty fast because of all the protein. Can't forget to mention the complimentary, fresh salsa bar with the grilled onions and jalapeños! The chips are mostly fresh, I have gone on some days where it appears and tastes like the chips were double fried and stale. But overall, on most days, the chips are warm and fresh. The staff are friendly, hard-working and they keep the place spotless and clean! It's a taqueria I have gone to several times in the past and will keep going back to for the refreshing margaritas, yummy tacos and excellent customer service. FYI- I believe they offer slightly lower prices if you pay with cash versus paying with card so it might be a helpful thing to know for people who carry cash.
