    Enchiladas Mole
    Jacob M.

Been years since I've been to Zócalo. It felt like a good day to sit on a patio, enjoy some Mexican food, and I've always liked the Midtown location. Truthfully, I've always thought the food was pretty mid and wondered why it consistently makes the Michelin Guide. But I decided today was the day to give it another chance. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and the service was excellent throughout. Water glasses were constantly refilled, and the staff kept the chips, salsa, and beans coming. The complimentary beans were especially good, with a deep smoky flavor that stood out. The chips were solid and the salsa tasted fresh. We ordered the fish and shrimp ceviche to share. It was good overall, though I didn't think the seafood tasted quite as fresh as it could have. The fish and shrimp were a bit softer than I'd prefer, which made me think it may have been prepared a day or two earlier. Still, it was enjoyable. For my entrée, I ordered the two enchiladas en mole, noting that it's one of the restaurant's Michelin-recognized dishes. I have to admit, I was impressed. The enchiladas were packed with chicken and cheese, the tortillas tasted fresh, and the mole was excellent. Complex, smoky, sweet, and full of warm spice, it was easily the highlight of the meal. The addition of plantains was unexpected but worked beautifully with the sauce. The rice and beans on the side were good, though nothing particularly memorable. In fact, I thought the complimentary refried black beans were better than the whole black beans served with the entrée. Overall, I was much more impressed than I was during my visit years ago. The food quality seems to have improved, and the service and atmosphere were both excellent. If you've been avoiding Zócalo because of a past disappointing experience, I'd say it's worth giving it another try.

Had a wonderful late lunch with my mom and brothers at Zocalo. This Capitol ave location is very popular and always packed, we arrived after a graduation earlier in the day so a few large parties were already seated when we arrived. The waiter informed us it was still happy hour so we ordered a couple of cocktails. I got the Cadillac Margarita with clase Azul and a Paloma. Complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip were served while ordering, chips were cold but the salsa and dip were very tasty. Our group ordered a few mixed taco combos, enchiladas and quesadillas- all came with cilantro rice and black beans. The quality and flavor of every dish is always on point, but the guacamole was not something I would order again. Boozy cocktails and an inviting atmosphere; zocalo is a friendly and fast paced restaurant that is great for large groups. You can even rent out a private area for your events. I definitely recommend.

My favorite Mexican spot in Sac... Came here with a large work group on cinco de mayo. Vibes were immaculate. Haven't been to zocalo where they had music blasting before. I went with the ole reliable mole enchiladas, which never disappoint. Rice and beans are also solid, but also the complimentary bean dip is amazing. Service was good, even on a busier night. Will be back.

Such a cute spot with a great aesthetic! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice, but it does get pretty loud inside--so it can be a bit hard to hear conversations if you're with a group. They start you off with salsa, black bean dip, and chips, and the black bean dip was definitely my favorite. I ordered the flautas and the salmon bowl, both had great portions and tasted fresh with really flavorful ingredients. Parking can be a little tough, so I'd recommend giving yourself extra time to find a spot. The wait staff was friendly, but they didn't come around much to check on us or refill drinks, which would've made the experience even better. Overall, still a solid place I'd come back to!

Stopped by Zócalo Midtown on a Tuesday afternoon and it ended up being such a vibe. We were seated right away, and with the rain and the big windows it felt really nice and cozy. The place itself is beautiful, full bar, big screens, and everyone was dressed nice which added to the experience. I ordered the tostada salad and it did not disappoint fresh, flavorful, and really good. We also got a few pitchers (blackberry, mango, and Cadillac) and they were actually pretty strong. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive, constantly checking in and refilling our drinks. When a couple more friends joined us, they moved us to a bigger booth with no issue which I appreciated. Overall great service, great atmosphere, and good drinks. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Solid choice for dinner! We were a party of 5 that was seated quickly. They keep the chips and salsa coming which was great! We got a variety of dishes which each were delicious. I also got a mojito and it was refreshing. Our server was kind and quick. The inside of the restaurant was very nicely decorated. It was clean as well. It was a bit noisy but it was during the World Cup so makes sense. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Parking can be a bit hard to find because it's midtown. Definitely worth checking it out!

GET THE FISH TACOS AND BLACKBERRY MARGARITA 10/10 Service and ambiance were good. Came for a friend's birthday dinner and the servers brought a dessert and sang. We asked for a round of shooters and they made blackberry + tequila which were really good!

Made a reservation for a Friday night. Extra busy with lots of birthdays. They sang extra loud for every bday so it's a fun place to celebrate, lol 5/5 free chips and salsa with black bean dip 5/5 Ceviche verde - hubs liked it 5/5 Guanajuato chx enchiladas has excellent sauce. Got the à la carte for $6. 5/5 arrachera comes medium well but I requested medium. It was tasty and flavorful with a portobello mushroom. We requested they split share. 5/5 friend got the Baja fish tacos which were huge and looked amazing. They were happy with it. Interior is a bit dark and also loud but the decor is elevated and it's a fun place to start the night.

    Great Day at Zocolo!

The food is excellent. Great authentic Mexican dishes. My favorite is the chicken burrito bowl. First, it's huge, and they don't skimp on ingredients. Perfectly spiced and incredibly flavorful; this is not your fast-food burrito bowl. I also love the enchiladas and Baja fish tacos. The bartenders are masters! We love the sangria, but the Margaritas are legendary. They are happy to give recommendations and make alcohol-free drinks, as well. We were there today for the FIFA World Cup Finals (yep, sadly my team lost), but everyone was excited, truly enjoying the experience, and the staff kept the enormous crowd happy. Service is always prompt, friendly and attentive, but today they outdid themselves. Despite being at capacity and the sidewalk also full of guests watching the game on enormous screens set up for the game, no one had to wait to order, get their food, or get refills on drinks. I absolutely love this place. I can't think of a single negative thing to say.

Always good for food but unless you're independently wealthy maybe find another spot for drinks. A group of us stopped here to grab some margaritas, for 3 singles and 5 doubles (8 total drinks), it was $263.00. I've paid less than this at full service resorts. The drinks and service were great, but way too expensive in my opinion.

One of the most popular places in Sac, for a reason! I don't come here often but I'm not mad when I find myself here. There will probably be at least 10 birthdays when you come but that's a part of the atmosphere lol the food is really good, the decor is nice especially around the holidays and the service/drinks are great too. All around, can't go wrong. Food: 4.1 Service: 4.3 Ambiance: 4.2 Marcels foodie score: 4.2

Strawberry Crème Espresso Martini and Blackberry Margarita
    Sidney S.

Wow, I have nothing but remarkable things to say about this place. My girls and I came here for lunch on Valentine's Day and I truly had a fantastic experience! I have to start off by talking about our waitress, Talisa. Her demeanor and service were EXACTLY how well customer service should be nowadays. When we sat, we were welcomed by her forthcoming, warm personality and her bright energy! She gave a full rundown of the drink menu when we asked for recommendations, and actually recommended the strawberry crème espresso martini. We ordered two of those, as well as a blackberry margarita, which were all terrific! Talisa also brought over complimentary pineapple muffins which were also quite delicious. When it came to ordering food, she recommended the most ideal dish from all the taco options. So I ordered the taco plate from which I chose two shrimp tacos and a fish taco, and they was AMAZING. The mango flavors I tasted on the tacos were a great surprise, and the cilantro rice the dish came with was also a great pairing that I truly enjoyed! I only took pictures of the drinks, but when my taco plate arrived, it looked so good that I completely forgot to take a photo. Sometimes, it's rare to come to an establishment where the service, as well as the food are BOTH exceptional, but in my opinion, Zócalo intentionally delivers. I still day dream about everything I ordered, so I could not recommend this place more!!

We have taken an outside cake for birthdays. Given Covid-19 I'd call to understand if outside items are still allowed.

Do they offer the entire menu at brunch or just the limited brunch menu?

With covid restrictions and all, do we need to make a reservation for outside seating?

I would because outside gets very busy!!!

Yes! - HH 3-6PM Every Day

    Are there taco tuesday deals?

No there are no taco Tuesday deals :(

The happy hour prices were reasonable and had so many great options. Can't say for certain about the parking situation because it was a close walk from our hotel. We ordered 2 mocktails, the watermelon sugar and basil berry fizz. Both drinks were super sugary and tart, which I ended up diluting with water. Still refreshing and tasty, but I think it was a bit overkill on sugar. For our mains, we tried the rigatoni bolognese, trio of fries, and chicken tenders. All food and drinks for under $50! The portions were massive, especially the trio of fries, which I was not expecting. The sweet potato fries were a bit soggy compared to the other 2, which were significantly crispier. The chicken tenders were ok and probably the least exciting thing we ordered haha. On the other hand, the bolognese was by far the standout! Flavorful, rich, creamy and the cheese pull from the pasta was to die for. Our server was super cool and patient with us, as it was our first time coming here. The food was delicious: I had the pear and pecan French toast and my wife had fried green tomatoes egg Benedict which she found super yummy. Their multiple line check-in and wait system where you line up again in a separate line once texted, process is an admittedly a bit clunky but I also surprisingly found it be very efficient. We went in on a Friday mid-morning and the wait for 2 was only about 15-20 minutes. I was blown away by how nice it was on the inside, it's a lot bigger and more modern than you would expect from seeing it on the outside. I'd say there are about roughly 25-35 tables combined inside and outside, so don't be discouraged if the line looks long. I promise it's not the hole in the wall it seems on the outside - it's really roomy on the inside! The food also comes out SUPER quick and the wait staff is super attentive and friendly. The only thing that I didn't quite understand was their pricing on their brewmosa. It's listed as $10 and it includes a PBR and only a splash of OJ but if purchased separately full cup of OJ and a can of PBR they're listed at $4 a piece. So I was a little bit confused and asked the waiter who was equality admittedly puzzled. I ended up buying the separate items and making my own brewmosa. I will say it was quite delicious! Their OJ is freshly squeezed which is a big big plus! Anyways I would highly recommend this place and we hope to be back soon if we find ourselves back in the area!
