We didn't actually go to restaurant but they were having a festival with their food truck and the chicken burrito was so good and filled with chicken...with the green chile verde sauce it was even yummier. The wife and I stopped were so impressed with their food truck that we decided to stop but the actual restaurant over the weekend. The restaurant has a rather small parking lot on the backside but they offer indoor and outdoor covered seating. Service was spectacular and the food was just as amazing at the first time. I'm so excited to have authentic high quality Mexican tacos with 20 min of where I live. They provided complimentary chips and salsa while we looked over the menu so that was great, plus they brought out a little sauce spread for when our tacos were ready. This taco shop was recommended by a couple of friends. We went on a Friday night for a light meal. Though there was only two tables occupied, they seemed extremely busy. I ordered a quesadilla and 4 street tacos and it seemed to take forever! Looks like they accept online orders so that is what kept them busy. The food was ok. I was taken here by my boss on a lunch break. Boss and another got street tacos, I got a burrito and I got a bone marrow appetizer for us to share. I cannot speak for the tacos, but they seemed like they were enjoyed just fine. My burrito was lengua with rice, beans and cheese. It was a good burrito, but not great. Wasnt bad, just kinda plain. Kinda boring. The lengua was good, but I actually had better lengua a day or so before... I will say, as a whole, the ingredients were fresh, the restaurant, itself, was clean, welcoming. The server was fine, if a little slow considering we were the only ones there. Here's my issue, and the reason I wrote this review... The bone marrow. My boss and coworker had never tried bone marrow. I am a HUGE fan, so I get it whenever it's on a menu. It's not really hard to screw up. Season, broil/bake/bbq, add crostini of some kind. While the ingredients were fresh... there was literally no seasoning. Im not sure they even put salt on it. There was some cotija lightly crumbled on it, which gave it a hint of contrasting flavor, but it was not enough to elevate it to where I can even suggest the cheese was a "seasoning". More like an afterthought. The bread was very lightly toasted. On one side. The underside of the bread was just bread. The toasted side had butter, not sure if anything else. It could have used one more piece of bread, too. Bone Marrow has very little flavor on its own. It needs some kind of seasoning to bring out the subtleness of the beef oil and fat. Without any seasoning, it's basically just adding meat oil to toast. I was introducing two guys to bone marrow for the first time, and I got a sad, flavorless nothing disguised as a fancy appetizer. Came in to try this place for the first time and left very angry. The kitchen was very dirty food and stuff all over the place. The lady upfront was giving us bad attitude and was trying to rush us while we where there. Ordered tacos to go and they charged me for lengua "tongue" and got an up charge. When I came home the tacos where a different kind of meat! Needless to say I was very upset not only did I pay 4.99 for each taco but didn't even get what I ordered. Do Not Recommend!!!!!!! Not familiar with the area but found this place by accident. They offered outdoor seating which was covered. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day just really cold out. I've been coming to this restaurant for about 5 years. I noticed that the quality of food has decreased as of late. Today I ordered 2 lengua tacos which were delicious! The lengua was tender and flavorful. HOWEVER, the pollo asado was not quite so good or fresh. The rice and beans were fine but the salad and avocados were already brown. The chicken tasted like it was previously frozen and just thrown on the grill to warm it up. It tasted freezer burned and the seasoning was kinda weird....salty and spicy. Came for lunch and had the tacos carnitas - 4 street tacos on a plate. It was delicious; the carnitas meat was perfectly done and the tacos were simple but well prepared. Attended the Premio Esmeralda at Emerald Downs this weekend and noticed they had a food truck. The menu was very visable and I could've ordered everything on it. I picked up their tacos, Birrias cheese tacos and 3 tamales. Absolutly amazing the pork was tender and flavorful. The Birrias where just like I expected. The tamales were filled to perfection. The sauces red and green very flavorful but not needed for sure. Staff was very nice and polite, food was piping hot and packeged well. Thank you will defiantly be visiting soon. I heard of this place a white ago and tried to find the truck once, with no success. I think it was a situation where I called for the location, but no one answered the call. Much to my surprise, I saw a web article claiming the Algona location was probably the best taco you never had. Now that I have a location that is stationary, I started my 30 minute quest. The place was clean and service was polite. The menu was also far more diverse than most taqueria's. Honestly, I think I was most excited about the salsa bar. There is nothing like a homemade hot sauce to take a place from good to great. My problem here was simple, it was the food. It's wasn't bad by any stretch, but it wasn't great either. I'll drive an hour for a solid meal this place was 30 minutes and it would need to be about 3 miles from my place in order for me to return. They had about 8 salsas and only 3 were good. 2 of them were seriously hot, which is my style, but heat without flavor is a no no and neither the habanero or green sauce had flavor, they both needed salt and salt was no were to be found due to covid. The Pico was great, the chip salsa was great and they had this orange creamy sauce that was exploding with flavor. I had Carnitas tacos, with rice and beans. The carnitas weren't fried, that was my first meal disappointment. They also didn't have a rich flavor. I like spice and kiss of citrus with my carnitas, this taste like leftover pork roast. The rice also had no flavor and the bean were okay, but could have used a little more seasoning and some cheese on top. Like I said, the people here were friendly and the food was good, but I would not drive 30 minutes again for this. I would not co-sign for the online article and I wouldn't recommend this place. This restaurant is authentic Mexican food, so I thought I'll be promised with some good tacos. I wasn't exactly right. I ordered their four tacos dish with meats of steak, chicken, tongue, and spicy pork. Their tacos did not have double tortilla and which had the taco falling apart when eating. Their chicken taco was completely bland with no seasoning. The salsa I added didn't feel like it added anything to the chicken taco. The steak, tongue, and spicy pork tacos were good and tasted great, but the chicken needs some work. I know chicken tacos are not the most popular one, but if you have it on your menu, I would expect it to be decent. The service was nice. I was so hungry! I had been here before and the food was decent. Unfortunately, I think my (un) Super Burrito was far from decent. The size was great and the tortilla had been nicely grilled. So far, so good. The first bite was a huge disappointment. The beef and flavor could not be more bland and it was chewy. Was it microwaved from the previous day? I wanted to have a nice lunch and this should not have been served by anyone with pride in their business. I do not know if I will try this again. Hungry from biking on the interurban trail? I'd biked over from Tacoma on one of those perfect northwest summer days. I was aiming to do at least 60 miles, but I espied tacos el tajin while I crossed the street. Short detour to confirm that they took visa. Then I pounded North several miles to a turnaround point. At 130 pm I was famished. Ordered number 24. Three enchiladas plus rice and beans. Added avocado and an horchata. Enchiladas con pollo were delicious. Their homemade salsa is awesome! Based on the other reviews I tried this establishment, ordered the 4 taco plate and the taco salad both with the pork. After eating half of my taco salad I found a very large fly that had clearly been soaking in the meat for some time, upon further inspection found a hair in one of the tacos as well. I am not commenting on anything other than clearly poor food handling practices and the high potential for contamination of ingredients at this location. I discarded the tacos and returned the uneaten portion of the salad for a refund and to make them aware of the contamination so they could discard the meat that has flies soaking in it, they offered to make me another one... with the same meat!!!!! Wow! Great food & experience! Too bad I didn't visit here before - it's next door but I prejudged because restaurants were in and out every year at this location in my neighborhood. I guess I didn't want to attach to another fly-by-night business here? I don't know. But this is not one of those. Exceptional service, clean & comfortable interior and great, authentic food. Ok, so far this has to be the best taco in the south sound! The tortillas were really fresh! Like, melt in your mouth fresh! And the steak was really juicy, not dry and over cooked like most. I tried the spicy sauce and found that it was very citrusy and not as spicy as I prefer but very complimentary to my tacos. The fried jalapeños were amazing!! Oh and it came with chips and salsa! My go-to place during the work week for Mexican food! The price point and portions are great. My team never ceases to be amazed when my pollo asado arrives. For $8, it's almost a quarter of a chicken and on days where I don't feel like going straight into food coma after lunch, the leftovers are great for dinner or lunch the next day! Talk about value!! Service is always welcoming and they are always generous with chips and salsa. It does get busy during the lunch rush so anticipate some wait time if you're going with a large group. They serve Mexican pop and ...... Diet Dr. Pepper! Fellow addicts will celebrate. Chips were generic - salsa was good, not fresh cilantro-d into oblivion, although I like it a little chunkier. Butttttttt the Chicken Enchiladas were great!!! Green salsa was delish, meat was moist, all top notch. And this was after I managed to be THAT customer by fussing at the super polite woman at the counter until she sold me two enchiladas instead of three. Salsa ain't my only thing a little chunky. They had a sign that claimed Barbacoa on Fridays and Saturdays which is calling my name next visit.
