My go-to place during the work week for Mexican food! The price point and portions are great. My team never ceases to be amazed when my pollo asado arrives. For $8, it's almost a quarter of a chicken and on days where I don't feel like going straight into food coma after lunch, the leftovers are great for dinner or lunch the next day! Talk about value!! Service is always welcoming and they are always generous with chips and salsa. It does get busy during the lunch rush so anticipate some wait time if you're going with a large group. The carne asado and enchiladas are also very good, but my favorite will always be the pollo asado. I will pass on the flan. Very, very thick and way too sweet. One bite and I was done. read more

This place is pretty good. It's like an indoor taco truck, except now that they raised the prices it costs a bit more then a taco truck. I think they should have come up a bit in the prices, but not quite as much. A carne asada plate is damn near as much as e you expensive as a fancy mexican restaurant! So, I don't come here as much anymore, but if I'm in the area and don't have time to go to La Bonita I'll come here for lunch. If you like spicy the enchiladas rancheros are Amazing! read more

Needed something near Boeing Auburn - friends recommended Tacos El Tajin. Generic (Clean!) interior, order at the counter. Not a huge fan of guesstimating a tip before eating, but not a deal breaker. They serve Mexican pop and ...... Diet Dr. Pepper! Fellow addicts will celebrate. Chips were generic - salsa was good, not fresh cilantro-d into oblivion, although I like it a little chunkier. Butttttttt the Chicken Enchiladas were great!!! Green salsa was delish, meat was moist, all top notch. I've been here many times, and I always just grab chicken tacos, I love authentic street style tacos, and this is the place to find them for me. Living in Pacific, they are a mile down the road where I only have to take 2 turns from my house...the convenient location near 167, West Valley and the Supermall in Auburn makes it an easy to get to hidden gem in Algona. Parking is weird, but there is a small park across the street that has parking. Definitely worth a try! Great prices as well! read more

Had to really think about posting a review. Would like to keep this place a secret. Many have had their food since they have very popular food trucks up by Amazon in South Lake Union. I don't think many realize where the restaurant is since its kind of hidden in Pacific/Algona. I travel to Mexico a lot with my wife. The food at this restaurant is like what we get down there. I think many Americans are so used to the crappy Americanized Mexican restaurants like Puerto Vallarta or Azteca that they may not appreciate Mexican food like what is made down there. This isn't the place to get tons of lard and cheese on your meals. This is the place to get great tasting Mexican food that doesn't leave you feeling bloated or sick. The steak and chicken tacos are great. This is an unexpected hidden gem in the area. Would recommend to anyone who has an appreciation for good, authentic Mexican food. read more

Let's be honest.... The photos are misleading. The food here is very dissapointing.. none of the items have flavor or salt. The menu has lots of variety and I was so excited to try this place. The fish tacos were dry...no flavor, I didnt finish. I also tried to Mole enchiladas. I dont know why none of their items had seasoning or spice. The chips were actually pleasant but thats about it. The horchata was gross and so was the agua de jamaica. I guess at least the food isnt greasy and processed. My friends had tacos. werent impressed. The location is cute and the staff was friendly. Nice little find in Algona. Happened to hit Happy Hour and ordered 5 tacos for $6. had carnitas, asada and pastor - all were good (not the best I've had but hit the spot). They did have a couple of taco trucks parked in their parking lot and they guy said they usually have them in Seattle (including SLU). I must have caught these folks on an off day. Two ladies were working a rush on a Saturday afternoon for appreciative patrons. Four (mini) chicken tacos, two beef malitas and a horchata to go. Just ok. Not much flavor in the chicken and cilantro is a too common cure and coverall when all else fails. I ate one beef mulita and the other was not worth saving. The horchata was the oddest taste I have ever had for that drink and not too chilled. I am puzzled by this visit since this place is doing well and people seem to love them. I live up north and don't make it down too often to this area but I will have to return and check it out again. read more

I've been getting lunch from the food truck for the past several weeks now at work in South Lake Union in downtown. All I can say is that their food is CONSISTENTLY excellent!!!! Very fresh and reasonably priced, and I just found out their restaurant is just minutes from home...yes they'll be getting plenty of business from me! Hands down some of the best Mexican food I've ever had!!! And the service is awesome...very friendly and fast! The lines for the food truck in SLU are always long...but it's always worth the wait! There are so many wonderful reviews about this place, and as I was driving by the area, I decided I wanted tamales. Not the one out of the can and serve with rice and beans, but actual tamales still wrap in the husk. Yelp tamales and this was one of the few restaurant that came up. So I stop in and it was pretty much empty excerpt for 3 people. The cashier was super friendly and took my order quickly. He walk to the back and about 30 seconds later my order was order. The tamales was just okay. I had the pork and they were a little chewy. The masa was drying out and there was no liquid in the meat. Overall just average tamales. Maybe it's cause I came in late when they were getting ready to close. Next time I'll try them closer to their opening hours to see how the tamales are. read more

I'd like to give this place 3.5 stars. It's nice to have an authentic style Mexican place near work. I ordered the lengua torta and a carne asada burrito. The lengua (beef tongue) was nice and tender and had some nice flavor, but the bread was a little to think. Adding beans to it (never seen that in a torta before) just made the large bread a bit soggy. The burrito was nicely done. It had good flavor in the carne asada and the beans. I've been looking for a good, authentic, Mexican restaurant in my area ever since I returned from my twelve year stint in the L.A. area. I love this place. The food is just like the food you get in the first generation Mexican carnicerias you find in all the barrio neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Trust me, this is a good thing. This is a friendly family run place with a wide selection of foods. The rice & beans are good. The food is spicy, so be aware. Reading the yelp reviews. This place seems like one of those little gems. It is not. The mole chicken enchiladas are sub par. My friend hade the verde chicken enchiladas, it tasted canned. The frijoles are runny and rice is beyond bland. I expect more from Taco Bell. read more
