Their carne asada is ACTUALLY grilled outside over the fire, and that smoky flavor makes a huge difference. They also have a great salsa bar with plenty of toppings, chiles, cucumbers, lime, cilantro... basically everything you need to build your perfect taco and test your salsa tolerance. Honestly, when I walked up I had to pause for a moment and consider my life choices. Yes, I am a tacoholic, but were they worth my life? Nobody, at least nobody alive, was on the premises, from my vantage point. Two buildings lay before me, both of which looked dark. Dusty railway cars on the track across the street. I had ordered my meal to go, and people started rolling up as I was leaving so I guess the party was about to start without me. Then I got my tacos home!! Exclamation point because they deserve it. I ordered two queso tacos that, of course, came with consumme. My eyes rolled back in my head when I took the first bite. The beef was juicy, flavorful, tender and the consumme complimented it beautifully. And when have ever been treated to so much cheese in a queso taco? Never. And the good, thick Mexican cheese, melted and abundant. Not some tasteless, cheap, inconsequential slop. My only regret? I live 10 miles away up a mountain and I couldn't run right back and order one more queso taco! I was literally starving for one more. So, I made some poverty nachos - cheap tortilla chips with cheddar melted on top in a microwave - and dipped them in the consumme. I was recommended this place by my father and decided to give it a try. I ordered about $63 worth of food, and when I was ready to pay, I was told there would be an additional $8 charge for using my card. First time here, there is a covered patio area outside with tables and inside is a little small has about 7-8 tables. I ordered carne asada, pastor, chicharron, lengua, and tripa tacos, my husband ordered the menudo and my son a quesadilla. This place makes you feel like you are sitting at a taqueria in Mexico. First, there was a sink outside for hand washing, then, there was the guy grilling shooing away a poor hungry cat. Was driving down MC85 and saw the smoke from the giant grill out front. I did a quick U-turn and was glad I did. I had the Carne Asada tacos and they were delicious and generous with the meat.
