The combination of slow service, food taking too long, cold beans, small portions for the price, and the lack of attention from the waiter really took away from the meal. The shrimp was utterly devoid of seasoning, leaving the entire plate flat and uninspired. The carne asada burrito fared no better, with dry, tough meat that lacked both tenderness and flavor. At best, it was mediocre; at worst, it was careless. Even the basics fell short. A simple request for red salsa resulted in two containers of watery, lifeless green salsa that tasted of nothing. This is not just a missed detail -- it's a sign of a kitchen going through the motions without any real pride in its food. Service was equally disheartening. The indifference from staff only compounded the poor quality of the meal, leaving the impression that customer experience is of little concern here. With prices climbing higher while quality falls lower, this establishment struggles to justify its existence in El Monte -- a city with no shortage of excellent, authentic options. We stopped by here after attending a movie premiere and let me tell you the fish tacos are next level! Hands down, some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. The batter was light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned, and the fresh toppings tied everything together beautifully. Every bite was a flavor bomb. The refried beans and rice were also packed with flavor and cooked just right no bland sides here! We couldn't resist ordering the carne asada nachos too, and they were just as incredible loaded, cheesy, and satisfying without being greasy.
