I drove by this place years ago when someone I knew lived close by. I noticed the sign and said "who has taco specials on Wednesday?" but I was intrigued and hear 6 to 8 months later I was in the area and decided to stop by. It was a good call, the tacos were delicious and so were the chilis sauces. I got two meat tacos [cabeza and lengua] and both were really good. They have a birria special and I asked if it was for weekends only and the owner replied that they have everything every day. I will be back for both the birria and the taco Wednesdays??? They also have a Friday special for Fish Tacos. My wife had a fish taco that she divided up into two tortillas and split it. She couldn't eat the second one because she was too full so I helped her out :) The only complaint was we got an horchata and it was watered down. Had to leave it and at $4, it is not cheap. Food: had the fish tacos that are $1.75 on fridays. They came out pretty fast and were very fresh. Double layered tortillas topped with tomatoes, cabbage, cilantro, and crema. I added some pickled onions, lemon, and the tomatillo sauce from the sides bar. Very crispy, yummy, and fresh. Service: I took the order to go. Staff were very polite and efficient, order came out in around 5 minutes. Overall, this is a very local hole in the wall shop with very reasonable prices. Ok i really hate to do this but ima do it. I ordered the enchiladas and 2 tacos and jamaica. I walked in and it smelled like dirty mod water. The ice machine was broke and so the pulled ice from a bag into my drink. The drink was hella sweet... ok food, tacos were flavorless, and the salsa was the worse salsa i have ever had. The enchiladas were so bad as well, and i found a hair on top as soon as i open the to go box. Worse mexican food ive had. Omg.... I spent 28$ for it all as well and i dodnt even eat it. :,( . Well, despite charging 99 cents instead of 95 as the sign says, still a steal! First time even got some tortilla chips on the plate and a free cup of watermelon juice. 2nd Sunday visit, no tortilla chips but saw others had on their plate. No big deal, didn't need the chips. This has to be one of the more conflicting reviews I have for an establishment. But I got to give it straight. My foodhound cousin and I have been driving by this place for a few weeks and today we said, "Why not?" So we stopped by to order some tacos. My cousin went in and ordered while I waited in the car that needed to stay idle or we couldn't restart it again( bad battery). So I waited...and waited...and waited... "What the heck?" I wondered. Was there a huge line inside? Well my cousin came out with our order and told me that the lady that ran the counter was particularly going back and forth getting things like salsa containers, then going back to get the lids for the salsa containers, then going back to get cups for our drinks, running back to get the lids for our cups, AND then running back to get straws! Not really efficient... We go back to eat and realized that we were short 4 tacos! Not good... But the fish taco I had was pretty bomb with crunchy breaded fish, chopped cabbage, and great sauce! Also the Al pastor tacos I had was excellent with slightly fried pork, chopped onions, and cilantro. Pour some of that slightly spicy guacamole and you have a party with in your mouth! One of my go to taco places in El Monte, Especially on SUNDAYS their tacos are 0.50 cents! Can't go wrong with that at all! I like their tacos, with all the yummy greasy flavor and sauces that you can get at the sauces island, but today my sister realized that the tacos look as small as sopes. This location is on a corner and parking is behind it. The food is good and there's a large selection. The place itself needs some updating. It looks like a mom and pop place but they do need better looking menus so that the food may seem more appaticing.( Don't let this discourage you). They had everything on their god damn menu. It was a little strange. I mean, do I really want Pastrami and roast beef from a Mexican joint? Especially strange since they also had a sign that signified that "Tripas Is back!" As if intestines ever left! The place was really hot. It didn't help that there was an added 10 bodies in the room that really made all the work that one small revolving fan did pretty much pointless. Putting in the order, it took a while to get the taco. I think that they probably forgot or didn't get it in cause the people who ordered after us ended up getting their same style of order earlier. What was the result of that? It seems that our tacos were a little burned. Ordered up a shrimp and fish taco. Oddly enough we both couldn't figure out which was which. They both looked a like.. which isn't a good thing. You'd expect to be able to tell the difference between Fish and Shrimp, right? Then they looked pretty brown. As if they were deep fried too long. They were a bit difficult to eat because they were so brown. I think that wasn't very good in general. The saving grace here was that it was topped with a pretty decent cream. The price difference for the shrimp was only 50 cents more than the fish. Which is pretty damn good considering some places really make it a buck more for shrimp at times. The soda was tasted pretty watered down. It's really hard to mess up the ratio of diet coke syrup to combination.. oh well. Really poorly ventilated, parking was pretty bad to figure out. Over all, not gonna come back here again unless someone really wants some tripe. read more

I don't quite think the reviews touch upon what a great restaurant this place is. It isn't a exquisite Mexican food place, but as a cheap Mexican fast food place, its quite good. Though as a whole I can't give it a 4 stars simply due to certain facility issues. Food: I think the Carne Asada tacos are fantastic, order them with everything on them and they're tasty, well cooked and far better than most corner taco shops. The Fish Tacos are kinda of a hit and miss, certain days the cook will make them amazing, but other times, its not very good. The inconsistency can be a turn off for the food, but when you ask the cook to make everything fresh, it usually ends up being perfect. Service: The staff is very friendly and very willing to meet any reasonable demands you may have, I once took a group of friends who kept wanting to eat tortilla chips and they were continually willing to make batch after batch for FREE. They also are very open to custom and fresh orders, which I think makes it top notch as going the extra mile to serve the exact food I wanted is always great. Facilities: Now here is where it gets a sharp decline, though the place itself isn't bad, its small sized and there is no major AC system. This can make it a huge pain during hot summers to eat cause its almost like 95 degrees sometimes. But this is really the only major complain, its usually kept very clean and the place has good tables and seats. Overall though its not perfect, its a hole in the wall food place that has great Carne Asada tacos and great service. Its definitely worth checking out and if you live in the area, you should absolutely come on Sundays for $.50 tacos and $1 tacos on Friday. read more

So what do you do after an away water polo game? Eat! I went here with my wife and daughter on a Sunday and we agree that these are without a doubt the best tacos we've had in years. To get a better feel for what they have, we ordered the al pastor, carnitas, asada and fish tacos. Three exceeded our expectations, the fish... eh, not so much. Too much batter. I'm a stickler for flavor on the meat, and aside from the fish, their meat is 100% perfect on flavor and not laden with chunks of rubbery fat like other places. The rest of the stuff on their menu we can care less about, we're only here for the tacos. Show up on Sundays for .50¢ tacos. Keep in mind that these are the small 4" street style tacos but they are so worth every penny, but bring cash, no cards accepted. We live about an hour away and liked this place so much that we'll definitely be going here again soon. Based on what I ordered, definitely 5 star worthy and worth the hour drive. read more
