Taco Ensenada in Monrovia is located across from the large plaza with Kohl's and Trader Joe's, with plenty of parking available. I came on Taco Thursday, where they offer a 2-for-1 deal on select meats, including beef, chicken, carnitas, and cabeza. Normally, each taco is $3.39, but with the deal, I got 8 tacos for less than $15. I tried the carnitas and asada, and personally preferred the carnitas. Both were on the salty side, but the self-serve onions and lime helped balance the flavors. I recommend bringing cash since there's a 3% fee for credit card transactions. There weren't too many people, likely because of the rain, so seating was easy to find. The interior is smaller than the Duarte location but has a similar theme. The service was great--quick and friendly. They kept the tables clean and made sure the self-serve station was well-stocked. My wife and I stopped in to grab something to go as we were in the midst of a long car trip. The skinny on the food: We each ordered a burrito, mine carne asada no rice, hers carnitas no pico-de-gallo. Total tab $24.89. The burritos were huge. They were also delicious. The red salsa is great, the green not so much (and I usually like them the other way around). The only knock on the place is the shrine at the counter honoring Jesus Malverde, the narco-saint. Sure, you can say he was a Robin Hood of his time, and he may very well have been. But lets face facts, he has evolved as the patron saint of narcotics traffickers/dealers/and sellers. The renderings of marijuana on this particular shrine attest to his current meaning in society. So, I assume this restaurant somehow supports drugs and thus I can never return. My husband ordered a chorizo & egg breakfast burrito, despite this being dinner, LOL. Everything tasted really good, and the portions were healthy as well - the burrito was nice and big, and they didn't hold back on ingredients for the tacos. Their salsas provided had a really good kick, which I appreciated! The buche was not the best I've had, but it was still quite tasty, though a bit more chewy than I liked. I'd stick with their seafood items the next time I come! Other thing I found really cool was the cold storage "fridge" that they kept their cut onions, jalapeños and lime slices...it kept everything cold and covered, and when you opened it, the condiments smelled really delicious, lol. Ok fish taco fans...I came here because the reviews were saying it was better than Taco Nazo! I will say the menu is a mile long so there's definitely more options but the Taco Nazo is still my fave and the large chilli, TN has the spices down! But the fam did love the surf and turf nachos! They have a small salsa bar and we both had a chili pepper. I usually have the pepper warm theirs are cold and I enjoyed it being cold. I used to go to their Duarte location, but this one is closer and more convenient for me. It's located on Huntington Dr. across from Chase. This is a smaller location, but they do have a parking lot. I did not dine in, I ordered 7 fish tacos to go. The young lady taking my order was really nice. My order was ready in less than 10 min. I am disappointed because they no longer have the yellow peppers. Now they have seasoned jalapeños. I asked the young lady taking my order, and she said they only have those. They were good, but fish tacos do not taste the same with jalapeños. The tacos were cold (did not taste all that great), which is weird because I always get them to go, and they're always warm when I get home. Only 1-2 with fill you up. I usually get a large shrimp ceviche as well. One time, it came with two tostadas and another, I didn't get any. Also, it's cleaner than the El Monte one where there are always sketchy people that appeared to be drugged up asking for money. This is at the old Starbucks location on Huntington. It has its own small parking lot, but could quickly fill up once they get busier. Inside is very similar to their other locations; There's a huge menu board above the counter. You place your order and wait for your # to be called. To the left is a self serve bar, where you can grab a small bag and get some lemon wedges, roasted peppers or onions. You'll have to ask them for the red or green salsa. There are some tables for people who want to dine in, but not ideal for large parties. The tables are for 2 or 4, since space is limited. The food is consistently delicious and satisfying. They have fish taco Tuesdays for $1.25. One of the best! I also love their burritos too. Currently, they're cash only, and have no estimated date of or when they will start accepting credit cards. With this location now open, I'll likely increase my taco and burrito intake. read more

Let me start off by saying Ive been waiting anxiously for this spot to open up! I've been to both the Duarte and Sierra Madre locations. Thankfully they had their grand opening last Thursday so today being Taco Tuesday we decided to pay a visit. The portion of fish in the fish tacos was much smaller than the portions at the Duarte location. My fiancé loved the spicy shrimp tacos and I was a fan of the potato taco. Very crispy, not greasy. Tasty food all around. The location itself is small but clean. They have seating inside for about 20 people. They also have a small patio area on the side of the restaurant with maybe 4 tables. Convenient parking lot with 20 spots. Unisex bathroom accessible outside to the rear of the restaurant. Right now it's cash only but the cashier told me they're still setting up their connection with the bank so they should be expecting card payment in the next few days. read more
