Hands down, the best thing on the menu has to be the buffalo fries. I ordered them with both meats, al pastor and asada, and they were amazing. The bowl was very filling with all the fries and meat, and the toppings and sauce were a great combo. I would definitely go back just for that. The chips and salsa were also good. The salsa had just the right amount of mild heat with a fresh taste. The beer battered avocado tacos were decent, but in hindsight we should have gone with a protein style taco instead. With the deep fried avocado, it was a bit overpowering, and I noticed a slight aftertaste. It was a little disappointing that the horchata tasted watered down and more like a powdered mix rather than freshly made, but we understand that is not the main attraction. The environment is more for those who enjoy the bar life, so it can get pretty noisy. The food was good, just not our style. read more

I'm happy to say my second visit was just as good as the first. If not better. Sweet Sam & I were here to celebrate our darling Ms. Hannah's birthday. It was happy hour, so we were ready to indulge. Hannah & I both got the Shrimp Ceviche Tostada - a deal for $6 during Happy Hour. Sam ordered the Beer Battered Avocado Tacos (not HH), and we shared the Garlic Fries (not HH). The Ceviche Tostada was so good. The shrimp was fresh and it was topped with sliced avocado. I also liked the accompanying hot sauces. It was the perfect amount for me. Sam loved the tacos. They looked yummy. Or course we devoured the Garlic Fries. What made this visit so great (aside from the delicious food & tasty margaritas) was the excellent service we received from Matt! He was friendly, fun, and personable. I found out later that he and his wife Melissa are the owners. We love Knight Cap and it's always a great place for our occasional gals-get-togethers. They have a special taco Tuesday menu and an awesome happy hour menu with great prices for smaller portions of their main menu fan favorites. They do trivia nights on Wednesdays as well as other fun events throughout the week. The chips and salsa were great, flavor and not a lot of spice. I couldn't decide on the surf & turf burrito and the birria quesadilla. Sadly I didn't get our servers name but she recommended the quesadilla. After I said yes I realized I really wanted a burrito. Food came out pretty quick. FLAVORFUL!!! Taco Tuesday was a refreshing and tasty surprise! After a long day of traveling. I did a Google search for restaurants that were open late and I saw the photos. Called them to make a reservation on a Wednesday, which happened to be trivia night. Being that I had two newborn babies with me I had to sit outside but luckily we were offered a heat up. Matt, the manager, assisted us as well as he could being that it was very busy night. I was a little annoyed that we had to constantly keep going inside to get their attention almost like we have been forgotten. The birria tacos were delicious. I ended up also getting pozole which ended up being a total miss. I did not have the hominy that's supposed to come with this dish when I sent it back they looked at me like it was crazy. I a Mexican and I grew up with this dish so I know what it's supposed to look like and it looked nothing like bowl of pozole. When they brought it back, there was literally like five pieces of it inside my soup. I didn't order a big bowl of oil and meat which ended up just being the case. Pozoles main two ingredients are meat and a solid base of hominy which was non existent. Do NOT get the horchata it was absolutely disappointing and it's a glorified cup of sprinkled cinnamon and white water that tasted nothing like horchata. Also disappointed in their service... whether it's trivia night or not, they should attend to all customers equally and not forget about those outside. Would I come back here again? Maybe? I had their Guava Margarita, Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita and Blueberry Lemon Drop and they were absolutely delicious. They have more fatter fries and they were all SO crisp (not like chips or well-done fries cause i'm not too into that, but where it's CRISP on the outside and there's still nice potato in the inside). Carne asada was tender and not fatty-squishy which I liked! ANd the amount of pico they give was lovellleleyyy!! I got sour cream on the side as that's not my fave, but my partner loved eating it so that was a nice bonus. I like their salsa verde (green sauce) and that just poured all over was good. -surf n turf burrito no HH deal: I took a bite and it was very full and rich! partner said that there wasn't enough rice for him, but he still liked it and said he wanted to try other burritos so that's nice! the chips/sauces as a side was also nice too! DRINKS in HH: -knight cerveza: $5 crisp, good, solid beer! -wine: $6 decent red wine, there was a bit of something in my drink and server quickly and nicely remedied the situation and even added a bit extra just for the inconvenience which I thought was kind! OVERALL: price point is a bit higher than other places I think, but on HH it's worth it and the amount of food, at least for me, felt worth it! I've been meaning to check this place out, so I was downright thrilled when Nikki invited me to a get-together here. Now how to summarize the amazing evening I had? Let me start by saying that Knight Cap is an excellent hangout spot, perfect for relaxing, socializing, and drinking. The pub is quite spacious with a simple and minimalistic interior design and a laidback atmosphere. After sitting down at one of the booths inside, we ordered a round of drinks, nachos, and fries to share. And while our drinks may have taken a moment to be served (well worth it), the food came out ridiculously fast in comparison! I guess they knew better than to keep a table full of hungry women waiting. Lol. Anyways, the cantina fries were sooooo delicious! They came out fully loaded with layer after layer of Monterey cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and a heaping scoop of guacamole (which we had substituted for meat). The fries also came with habanero and verde salsa on the side, adding just the right amount of heat to the fusion dish. And I am proud to say that despite how gargantuan the platter turned out to be, we still managed to demolish the fries within minutes. Haha. Yelp friends really do make the best food friends! Delicious delicious tacos! I came with a group of friends and I got the grilled shrimp tacos and they were delicious! One order came with 3 tacos and my total came out to about $15. The tacos are decently sized - not crazy big but not as small as street tacos. One order kept me satiated although I think my other friend was still hungry after finishing hers. The quesadillas here are huge. If you're hungry, that would be a good choice. It's a bit heavy/greasy for me though. The shrimp tacos felt a bit pricey, but I'm also paying for the ambiance and being able to sit/chat with friends. The service here is AMAZING - servers were super attentive even though we sat outside. They even offered to split our bill (we had a party of 4 and we all ordered various things w/ and w/o drinks) so that was super nice of them. They have restrooms but they're located outside the restaurant, which I didn't love. read more

Great place for drinks in downtown Monrovia. I wish I could comment on the food, and hopefully I'll get the chance soon. The bar staff were fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and willing to chat for a bit. They took great care of us and it had everything we were looking for - plenty of big screens for sports highlights, the music was nice and varied, but not stupid loud so that we had to shout over each other.
