NOT AS PICTURED I am not a big fan of fish so I didn't rush to try Tacos Ensenada, Taco Fiesta's replacement but after seeing the window advertisement of a Asada Burrito I figured it was time. I will say that although my Carne Asada Burrito had good flavor, the meat was very tough and chewy and either a very cheap cut of meat or had been cooked days ago. The flavor must have come from the massive amounts of rice & beans that came in the burrito in spite of not being represented in the photo in the window I ordered from. I generally think Mexican food is inexpensive to create /make but hay doesn't mean one have to use cheap ingredients. I'm not likely to return. read more

I ordered 8 tacos. They only put 6 in the bag. When I got home and realized I called them. They told me to drive all the way back to get 2 tacos. I told them just to give me a refund. They refused to refund me the money, telling me I had to drive all the way back to get a refund. I told them I am not driving all the way back. They insisted I needed to come back, they refused to do the refund electronically for the 2 tacos. I told them fine, they can deliver the tacos. They did not want to deliver. Why is it crazy for them to come fix their mistake and drive to me, when they suggested I drive to them to fix their mistake? It sounded reasonable to them when it was my half an hour and gas and trouble. Then they hung up on me. Lately I've been driving around the SGV looking for the best shrimp burrito and this place would be my second spot. The shrimp they have in it is really fresh like they just got it out if the ocean. I am more familiar with the Duarte location, but wanted to give this location a try. Went with their Thursday 99 cent taco deal and got two carne asada and two chicken tacos. I wolfed them down and went on about my business. About 15 minutes later, I was walking through Target and started feeling weird. I was very familiar with this weird feeling, but could not pinpoint what could have caused me to feel ill. I started sweating, feeling a little dizzy, and made my way to the restroom just in time to run to an unoccupied stall and relieved myself. Stopped for a late lunch yesterday and got three single tortilla tacos and a drink. The tacos were good not great but I was shocked they charge for drink refills. $1.95 for a drink and $. 82 for a refill. Their fish tacos are pretty small, lunch truck sized but very good. The fish is cooked well, not over cooked and the breading is light and tastes great with good sauce, and tomatoes. They are cheap, so if you are a big eater, just get more than two. The shrimp burrito is my favorite. Best burrito I have had. The shrimp are small, but not salad size. This place makes Taco Tuesday feel like Disneyland. The lines are usually a little bit long on Taco Tuesday but it's totally worth it and the pickled vegetables that they offer are delicious. WOW, Talk about delicious food! This place is so much better than the place before, they cook with flavor. I'm here 1-2 times a week for either lunch or dinner. Their ceviche is fresh and delicious, their fried fish tacos (my favorite) taste clean and come with savory beans and rice. I always make sure to have some of their marinated chiles at the side bar, a tip is that the smaller the chile the hotter it will be! Also try a senorial sangria (non-alcoholic) and it's like a less sweet grape soda with dimension. The ladies at the cashiers are always very nice and in a good mood. I love this place! The food is great and the Taco Tuesdays and Thursdays are a steal. (Tuesdays are discounted fish tacos, and Thursdays are pork tacos). I eat here constantly. Just really make sure they hear you when you are ordering- I've repeated myself 2-3 times before and they've still gotten my order wrong before. It's loud in there, and sometimes they'll only yell out the order numbers in Spanish, so I've missed my order before. But the food tastes great and they have great prices, especially for the over-priced city of Sierra Madre. But just a heads up- they've been out of guacamole & avocado for a LONG time now, and charge 25¢ for every single extra red/ white sauce now. So I need to go stock my fridge with sauces from the grocery store and then I'll come back so I can still enjoy the same low prices as before. Especially for it's location where most nearby places are pretty expensive, it's worth visiting. And on Tuesdays and Thursdays, (if you have 5-10 extra minutes to wait for your order), you can't go wrong. read more

Overall 3 for the food and unfortunately an overall 1 for the service. We live in Sierra Madre and come to this place as it is convenient and like to support local businesses (particularly during the pandemic).This is a place that you MUST check your order to make sure it's right, 4 out of 5 times somethings off or left out, you get home and sit frustrated not wanting to get back in the car to go make things right. Like clockwork, tonight was no exception but what was most frustrating is the inability to take and make an order as given over the phone turned into the customer being wrong and unbelievably disappointing in how it was handled. Won't get into the back and forth and in the end they made things right after 30 mins and remaking the order twice, but the attitude of cashier was on another level. Damn I wanted to like this place since I hated taco fiesta. I got the fish and shrimp taco combo. Rice is very bland no flavor beans are ok fish taco is decent and shrimp taco the shrimp is over cooked and rubbery. I also ordered a potato taco in a hard shell and the inside was completely cold. I also asked for no pico de gallo and they still put it on everything. I will be sticking with Baja mar fish tacos in Monrovia.
