Had dinner here last night and it was a terrible experience. We ordered the chicken tostada salad and an order of taquitos. Within an hour of eating, both of our stomachs started hurting. I ordered a beef and a potato taquito, "enchilada style" with light cheese to go for $7.00. The sauce is delicious the beef melts in your mouth. The potato taco is not so chunky. The enchilada sauce tastes homemade organic and flavorful. No salt needed. I think it's too expensive to order taquitos separately. The staff is friendly and suggested getting the meal. It was my first time trying this location in Pasadena. The hosts were Ricky and his sister. I believe it is their family who started the business.. They were very friendly and helpful , and offered samples before ordering. I ordered the four pack with two beef taquitos & two chicken taquitos done in the OG style. It had toppings with iceberg lettuce, avocado sauce, and Crema. It comes with a drink of your choice, as well as rice and beans. Both the rice and beans have a homemade flavor. They were really good. They gave some extra sauces on the side for a little variety. The beans taste like grandma made them .. The location offers seating indoors or out with tables and one area has a counter. Friendly staff! We heard about this place and wanted to try their taquitos. The staff offered samples of the refreshers and chips/salsa to check flavors and gave recommendations on the options. It was inviting inside and some games available to hang out and play with. We got the loaded asada fries as well as the original taquitos combo. Fries were great and filling. The taquitos were a little too generously slathered with sauce but it was okay we dunked fries in them. I usually don't like rice and beans but the rice was nice accompaniment to the meats and the beans actually were satisfying instead of an afterthought! I absolutely loved the beef and potato tacos on our first visit. The restaurant offers plenty of parking and is extremely clean inside. From the menu I personally recommend the tacos. They were delicious, well portioned, and full of flavor. The taquitos, however were just okay for my husband and I. They did not have the authentic Mexican taste or texture we expected. Perhaps a chalupa texture could be considered? The taquitos were dry and crispy without much of a wow factor. Service was friendly and attentive. The new hire was sweet and very responsive. Wow wow wow!! I only have positive words for this small family owned restaurant. First of all, the workers are one of the friendliest hospitality workers I have ever met. They were super informative, friendly, and really accommodated us. I genuinely had such a positive experience even without trying their food first. We drive by all the time because we live so close by but have not stopped in until today! Something about the idea of going to a taquito-focused spot wasn't enticing. We never really think of taquitos when it comes to our meal cravings. But after seeing a few posts on Facebook that they do a Tuesday taco deal, I learned that they serve tacos as well and they looked pretty good. We decided to finally give it a try! The store was pretty empty, but the (owner?) immediately greeted us at the register and introduced us to the concept. The menu was surprisingly quite extensive. Yes, they do beef, chicken, potato taquitos with your choice of toppings style, but they also do crispy tacos and a very unique looking taco burger. We were graciously given their guacamole and queso to sample as well and they were delicious. I wish we came more hungry but next time I would love to also get their churro donut or blended horchata!! Honestly I was blown away by their menu selection when my first impression was that they sold taquitos only. I was sad to realize my judgement was totally wrong and I've been missing out on a genuinely good food spot, especially since we crave Mexican or Tex mex food quite often. I can tell from the quality of their queso, guacamole, and chips that the quality is top tier. When I think of taquitos I immediately think of frozen ones, and I don't think I even knew what fresh taquitos tasted like before this. We also surprisingly loved their beans and rice. The ingredients and texture are so much better and different! We didn't dine in today, but the spot is very clean and has a fun vibe. I will definitely be returning to try more items. You can get them in corn or flour tortillas as well. Ordered the following to go: Taquitos - beef and chicken combo, 4 pieces - 6.5/10: 'll say they're not bad. It's nothing too mind-blowing to be honest. They could use a little more filling inside. Also, the side dishes are minuscule - i got like 2 teaspoons of beans and maybe a couple tablespoons of rice. If I come here next time, I won't bother with the combo. I'd just get the taquitos alone. Taco Burger - 5/10: As for the taco burger, it's basically ground beef taco meat, with some lettuce, and Mexican style cheeses stuffed between buns. Some here described it as a sloppy Joe, and that's an apt comparison. Except mine was served lukewarm, and the cheese wasn't even melted. When I saw this was located in Pasadena, I was worried about parking but this location has a large lot shared with other businesses and parking is free! Super friendly staff. She explained the menu for us since it was our first time there. I just got the 2 beef taquitos, 1 corn, and 1 flour. Honestly couldn't notice the difference in taste. I opted for the OG style and that was good. The rice was my favorite side. It was nicely flavored and fluffy. The beans were good but had a good kick to it. I also got the esquite fully loaded and I was not a fan of it. Didn't taste like your typical esquite. Lacked the mayo/buttery taste. It had more of a lemony taste but it wasn't bland and the corn wasn't soggy. There was lots of sauce options but due to how we got it prepared, the sauces were not necessary. The strawberry dragonfruit drink was good but didn't taste much dragonfruit. Otherwise I would love to return to try something different. read more
