Honestly I came here specifically to try their Barria tacos on a suggestion by a coworker. Sadly the food was average. The biggest benefit here is the price. The food is very affordable. The service was fast but you do order off a screen so not a lot of interaction with the staff. The restaurant itself was stiflingly hot! I don't think they have AC and with the kitchen open right where you can see it all the heat takes over the whole area! The tables were not cleaned well and so it felt a little run down. I probably won't be back because even though the price is good the food scene is so competitive in that area there are better spots and I'd rather pay a little more for great food and AC. Its not what it used to be. The topping bar needed attention and the veggies taste old and mushy with old onion smell. It was also summer 100 degrees with no AC. My asada meat was cold though. The place was empty and the bathrooms needed attention. I saw the counter person a young man cooking with no gloves and tasting food while doing it. Santo Taco USED to be the well-priced value spot for authentic Mexican food..Not anymore. And I'm just not that into what they call a birria taco around here..Too much meat, not enough cheese, and to be true "quesabirria"-style they need to be griddled much more (like Del Barrio does). Plus their consommé was a too bitter for my liking. Al pastor here is the much better option - greasy, saucy, tender and flavorful chunks of pork. But these are average sized street tacos, not worth the $4.00-4.50 per price tag. I also tried their asada steak fries, one of the worst I've ever had. Fries were swimming in waay too much cheap, nasty Velveeta-style cheese, NO GUACAMOLE, and not nearly enough asada meat.***It's hard to believe, but an order of these has nearly quadrupled in price in 6 short years, up from $4 to one of the higher prices in town at $15!! But do keep in mind, an $8 half order is more than enough for one person. Salsa bar here is decent but lacked on salsa options, no creamy green or orange salsas here. They wouldn't even grill me onions when I asked, he instead pointed me down to the salsa bar, where raw onions were diced, unrinsed and very pungent, gag. They do have daily specials that help some with prices. Sunday wasn't even on their list and ended up being 3x birria tacos for $10. So the counter service was friendly enough but not very accommodating. Ease of communication was only so-so. The dining room is small, order in back by the soda machine. Atmosphere is more modern than your average hole in the wall taqueria, complete with photo op for the Gram. I was super annoyed that they only have tall bar height tables. And the speaker blasting music was too loud according to my kiddos. I usually agree with Guy Fieri on his picks, but I just can't do it with Santo Taco. read more

Okay how have I failed to write a review for Santo Taco when we live right down the street and frequent this place pretty regularly? I started coming here around 2019, 2020ish. My husband and I then moved to the area around 2021. It's so easy to get to from where we live, so we come here pretty regularly. I loved their lengua tacos (which are no longer on the menu) and their fish tacos. I have also gotten their birria tacos as well. My husband tends to get their nachos as his go to. I enjoy the salsa bar and tend to smother my tacos in the chipotle salsa. The staff is always nice and the service is pretty quick, considering how consistently busy they are. It does get pretty packed at times, but their dining area accommodates customers pretty well. read more

I never knew this yummy little taco place existed! It was such a delightful surprise! The restaurant was a bit on the smaller side, but it was clean, nice-looking, and busy!! But if it's a Tuesday between the hours of one and two p.m. and the place is packed. I must take that as a good sign. They were also quick to get the food out! Yay. They have a big salsa and condiment cart... pickled onions, peppers, pico, raw onions and cilantro, cucumber and radishes, etc. I had a pork Chile Verde taco (top notch chile verde. It was NOT sour. I really want to like this place, the food is good but the service has always dropped the ball. Almost all my past to go orders have had an item missing. After my last interaction I'm just over it. I ordered the birria burrito, but the bag did not have the cup of consommé. Not a big deal. I asked the girl behind the counter if one of the dozen cups sitting among the other to go orders was mine. She goes "let me see" glances at my receipt and goes "well it's a burrito so..". I tell her the birria burrito has always come with consommé and she rudely goes "you can get can grab one if you want then". Please train your employees on the menu or update it if it doesn't actually come with what you state. - "12" flour tortilla filled with rice, Monterrey jack cheese, and our house-made brisket birria with CONSOMMÉ, and pickled onions." Apparently to this place has been on Food Network, the Guy Fierri show. It's an assuming hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere in Salt Lake City. It's super out of the way but worth it! I was in the SLC area for 4 days recently and we gave this place a try for lunch. Food was prepared quickly, decent prices, and great quality tasty food. Chorizo is my favorite so this was bomb dot com. Rice and Beans were fine, needed more seasoning. Also I checked out their Birria tacos with the consume for dipping. Really tasty. Update: My refund was initiated.. Raise the start leavel to three for for experience. But I'm not sure who forced the refund. Them or my bank. But either way.... I ordered food last Thursday night for delivery. They charged me and took the money, then used a third-party service to deliver. The order status kept changing -- first it was late, then on time, then late again -- and eventually it was canceled. Guess who didn't get their money back? I waited to make sure the charge cleared my bank before calling. I contacted my bank to start a dispute. On Monday, I called the restaurant -- they hung up on me the first time. When I called back, someone claiming to be the manager said they'd speak to the owner and call me back. I'm still waiting. I will never eat from them again. I'll be calling my bank to let them know what I've experienced. According to my bank, I'm required to try resolving it first, and I have -- but they're taking too long to respond. It's been almost a week. I will be posting this on every platform I can and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Archived the text message of the canceled order to show BBB. The pollo was good, but slightly dry for my liking, however I really enjoyed the carnitas. They also have a nice salsa bar that has a variety of salsas, onions, and cucumbers, which j tray liked. Their Al Pastor tacos were the taco of the day and although I didn't try them I did purchase a dozen and took them to my husbands work, where they were promptly devoured. We were driving through SL decided to randomly try this since they had a special on nachos. The interior was clean and the service was very quick. The carnitas were very tender and flavorful and they LOAD the nachos with toppings. They also have a salsa bar which has a bunch of tasty salsas, pico, and avocado salsa.
