I finished one and threw the other away almost immediately after eating the first one my stomach turned upside down. Next day I had the runs even sharted myself. We really enjoyed trying this place out. We ordered for delivery. We tried out lots of tacos: carnitas, Carne asada, pork, and chicken. They were all delicious and very filling. They gave us plenty of side to go with them. All of them were very tasty. Prices were reasonable too! We will be back to try out more. I took off a star because of 2 reasons: the carnitas were very greasy...soaking through our plates and the tacos did not reheat well. The tortillas became very dry. read more

This used to be the place to go. I would drive an hour and a half with my wife and 4 kids for this place. I don't know what happened. Tortillas are almost like a synthetic blend or something. Cheese is very oily worse than American cheese. The meat selection is bad as well. At a glance, it looks great. When you take that first bite it seems great, until the after taste and texture of the food hits. It leaves you wondering what your eating. The tortillas they serve are no longer a traditional thin hand cooked Tijuana taco tortillas. It's like a synthetic tortilla with color added to it. The meat, like it's been frozen for a long time then cooked and steamed. I don't know, but no more for my family and I. Not the cheapest fast food either. The onions and cilantro are still good. Ate here a long time ago with my boyfriend and some friends. Didn't even remember where we ate since I totally forgot about this place. It was only until my boyfriend and I were around the area for work and we pieced it together that we've been here before! This time when my boyfriend and I went we ordered a Carne Asada Torta to share. It wasn't that busy so we were able to order our food and get it in less than 10 minutes. It was SO GOOD! I don't think I have ever had a torta before, but this makes me consider them as an option way more whenever I see it on a menu. I usually order tacos or burritos... I know, how lame. But I'm glad I finally tried something different! I would highly recommend it. Really yummy and great to share with someone since it's already cut in half. First of all, No one tops a place with unlimited agua fresca & beans Tacos gavilan has a variety of food items on their menu that's consists of tacos, tortas, nachos, gorditas, quesadillas and so forth. They have regular fountain drinks on top of their aguas frescas with are the usual horchata, tamarindo, and jamaica. Food is good, its not as authentic tasting as I'd like it to be but it's always fresh and made to order. They had a salsa bar where you can add as many condiments as you'd like. And that's also where they have their bomb frijoles! No lie, my child and I get like 7 cups and are sometimes embarrassed to go get more lol, super tasty! Tacos were good for a buzzed hungry night. However, they got my entire order wrong so I had to just eat whatever I had gotten. The buche the only thing that was right lol was really good though. We ordered 20 tacos 5 carne 5 buche 5 carnitas and 5 al pastor but we ended up with 5 buche, 2 al pastor, 2 carne asada and the rest was chicken lol. Great taco spot in town! Tacos made fresh as soon as you place your order. They hook you up too, making sure each taco has plenty of meat, along with their sides of salsas, pinto beans, lettuce, sour cream, onions, and cilantro. Super friendly staff as well. Ok, got to admit it, I was introduced to this place and the chicken and cabeza platos, Muy deliciosa! Never had cabeza meat, which is beef head meat, and it was so melt-in-your-mouth tender. They have there aguas frescas there too! Love the beans and you can put the mix of onions and cilantro on top. Tried the roasted chilis and usually they are spicy but these were spot on. Had been patiently waiting for this place to open. Finally saw a crowd inside and made a detour to grab a quick bite. I had never been to a Tacos El Gavilán before so I was stoked to try it out. So I ordered a few items to give myself a good idea of what they offer. Ordered a carne asada burrito and 5 tacos (lengua, al pastor, carnitas, buche and cabeza). Burrito comes with rice and beans, tacos are plain they have a salsa bar off to the side. To my disappointment the cilantro and onions were mixed together, I hate onions so that sucked. Overall the food was mediocre nothing stood out, there was no differentiation in flavor profile. The salsas were bland they just tasted like water poured over the meat. So far not a great impression but I'll be back to try a few other items before making a final verdict. read more
