Wanted some street tacos and decided to get Taco Gavilan. I ordered two tacos and one mulita for $10.10. The price was ok. Not a great value because the tacos are a little small. The mulita was a little pricey when you think it's just a little cheese and an extra corn tortilla included. The tacos were ok. I enjoyed the flavor of the meat and it wasn't overly salted however it didn't taste the freshest. It tastes like it's been in a steamer to keep it warm. I also wish the tortilla were heated a little more. They were soft and couldn't hold the meat. By the time I added my salsa and toppings they were ripping apart when I went to bite them. Te mulita was not good at all. I took one bite and threw it away. The tortillas were cooked enough, the cheese wasn't melted completely. I would not get those again. On a positive note, I love the free beans they give. They were tender and had flavor. A nice thing about this place is they have a full salsa bar with lemon, grilled onions, cilantro and onion, salsas. Nice not to have to ask. My cashier was helpful. She answered my questions about the mulita and took my order correctly. The ambiance is casual. I enjoyed the music playing while I dined it. There's also a lot of seating, including a table for a larger party. Give this place a try. I will go back and try something else. read more

I've wanted to try Tacos Gavilan numerous times passing through this area. Today I brought my family for dinner, I was impressed with the A sign score board from the health department . The dining room was spacious and clean, I like the individual wrap condiments concept. Service at the cashier can use some improvement, the young lady's demeanor was not pleasant nor welcoming. The plate of asada and lengua was not good. The lengua had no flavor , the beans were too salty and the corn tortillas were soaked in grease. I can feel the residual grease on my lips. I didn't eat my food after taking one bite. I packed it home in hoping to add my own ingredients when I got home. My girls liked their supreme burritos, my husband said his chicken tacos were decent. Thank goodness my son is now healthy. A few hours after eating his supreme burritos , he was severely ill . Through out the night he had diarrhea. I believe it was from the pre packaged pickle jalapeño, none of us ate it , reason why I concluded as such. In the restaurant my husband did mentioned the pickled jalapeño had an off putting smell and it's liquid looked slimy . We toss those packets aside and retrieve a new batch from the self serve counter for my son at home to eat with his togo burrito. As you could imagine I felt terrible witnessing my son's food poisoning from the food I purchased for him. ;( .. After finding out my son's food poisoning, I threw out my leftover food. I hope the owners/ managers read this review and make some drastic adjustments to how the condiments are placed. Although it is sitting on a cooling tray, maybe the temperature is not cold enough to keep it from spoiling. Maybe label the individual packs with dates/ timelines to easily discern which is new and old. All was good as usual for tacos Gavilan. The store was getting a slight remodel but was still pretty clean inside. We had a strawberry Coke drink mix to wash all the food down and before leaving I filled up my cup with horchata. The workers here were very nice. I really enjoy how the taste and service are consistent no matter which Tacos Gavilan location you go to. I wished this one had the drive thru however parking is never an issue. The restaurant itself is large and spacious, there's always someone tidying and cleaning up. We typically like to order the three tacos plate, burritos, or the Mulita. The quesadilla here is bomb as well, and so are the nachos. If I'm taking it to go, I prefer to have the cheese put on the side so my chips don't get soggy. I love that they have prepackaged condiments, like the salsa and the onions and cilantro, as well as the lemons and jalapeños. They even offer a self serve of beans and grilled onions and jalapeño. Again this area is always meticulously kept clean and organized. Even though the salsaare prepackage, they're always cold because they're constantly refilling it from the refrigerator. Don't serve the chicken if you can't cook it correctly. Whoever is cooking the chicken needs to learn how to make it tender. I thought it might've just been the beans that can pour into cups to eat but we also found roaches inside of the food. After eating four of the six tacos I notice a thick, dark, short hair (beard-like) on top of my taco. After contacting the food delivery app and digging into the tacos I notice another one, then another, then another, then another, and another! Six different hairs on two of my tacos! One includes a hair follicle attached to it. What the heck! Absolutely disgusting! So how many different hairs did I consume without noticing? Everything came out super hot and fresh. I got lengua, carnitas, and asada for my meats for my taco and they were all so soft, even the tortillas were soft and hot! Usually the taco places I have been the asada and carnitas are super dry! I also liked how you can grab your own salsa, onions/cilantro, and lime and they are all packed in a baggy and container. The discount is only available for police officers. The owner claimed that they do offer a military discount, but that's not true. It is what it is.
