So we were at a loss for what to eat after a fun day at Craig Smith's Park and we needed something quick...good ole Yelp steered me toward 5 star food truck, Tacos Jalisco. Let me start off that I grew up in SoCal. I also live in the Bay Area, and have visited what's considered the best taquerias in California. I feel like I know really good Mexican food very very well. My family of 6 just inhaled EVERYTHING we just ordered. First, the woman taking orders was genuinely so very nice. The kind of person that is so kind you're like "man I hope that person has a great life." They also made our food crazy quick when they heard we were in a rush. We ordered: Shrimp fajita burrito Fish taco, a little spicy! Yum Shrimp taco Ahogado carne asada burrito (wet burrito) Carne asada burrito with sour cream and guacamole Carnitas burrito Quesadilla and I asked for shrimp. They asked if the fajita shrimp was okay and I said yes. Elote!! $117 they take credit cards EVERY SINGLE THING WAS sooooooo good. So tasty, so flavorful, so savory, and the fish and shrimp were incredibly tender and fresh. My quesadilla had tomatoes, bell peppers, and mushrooms and the gooiest cheese. Elote was so sweet and juicy and the mayo, cheese and chili powder was perfect. The fam wasn't even finished before they asked if they could have it again tomorrow when we go head to Akaka. Sometimes the service can be a bit of a wait, but I know that my order is being cooked right then and there, and not sitting on the side in some warmer. Customer service is always great though, super friendly! Last time my kids and I stopped by after soccer practice on a Friday night and they had a big speaker playing some catchy Spanish music with color changing lights! Outside of what I ate of my meal coming out of both ends, I really don't understand all these "authentic" reviews. Have they ever had authentic, because bagged chips, canned beans, and watery salsa is not giving that to me. I don't understand why 99.999% of Mex. restaurants/food trucks just can't get it right. So ono !! This was our dinner tonight. I had the quesa birria and my daughter had the carnitas flautas (this is her fav) so we shared - which what you're suppose to do . The birria (consumé) was so tasty. Beans are the absolute best and I really liked the rice! The service is fast and friendly!! We didn't stay to eat but there's enough parking and tables. Food was AMAZING!!! It was so good, we went two nights in a row!!! We ordered the Birria tacos, California Burrito with Carne Asada, Nachos with carne asada and chicken quesadillas. Went back second night, they ran out of Birria tacos (they serve Birria tacos everyday, got to get them before they run out) California burrito with carnitas, regular burrito with chorizo, and nachos with chicken. Both nights my family and I enjoyed the food with some jarritos. My favorite flavor was the tamarind. On top of the amazing food and drinks, the employees provided excellent customer service. When traveling, my partner and I ALWAYS track down breakfast burritos! So glad we found Tacos Jalisco this morning! First of all, the folks inside the truck were very friendly, Secondly, the burritos were HUGE and so very delicious! They also provide salsa on the side which was not your basic pico de gallo! It was like a roasted tomato with really great flavors and not too spicy for me and my tolerance is a bit weak for the Mexican I am. 100% would go back again and recommend. Really wanted to like this place but the food came out average (maybe we ordered the wrong stuff) got flautas which I was hoping would have fresh guacamole but didn't seem like it. Rice seemed okay too. The picnic tables were not clean and they had open trash cans right next to the benches which attracted a lot of flies so we had to eat in our car. okay stick around for this one- i had the california burrito with carne asada, it was a dream. delicious yummy perfection. the salsa? spicy, perfect. my two friends got the regular burrito with carne asada and guacamole. they loved theirs. we have never been so excited for mexican food, it was very authentic. unfortunately the thrill wore off the next morning inside the stall of a bathroom. round 1 hit me very instantly. i went from perfectly fine, to running for the sake of my life and pants. round 1 hit friend A 30 minutes later. both of our round 2's were made before leaving our campground. unfortunately round 1 hit friend B while driving. the time it took to find a bathroom was only a third of the time it took to enter and leave said bathroom (sorry blonde dude who came in after and had to walk out promptly and brave his way back in). round 3 hit friend A promptly after this, in the next target of the jalisco burrito. when i say we had to camp out at this spot for rounds 1-3 i mean it. we left to go on a hike, and had to return to this spot before we got our stuff together for the hike. on the hike, we found the most dreamy obscure cave dwelling for rounds 3-4 varying in victim. rounds 5 were made in target. we are just now hitting our 24 hour mark from our jalisco burritos last night. fortunately, food poisoning is something that can be fixed. if needed remind everyone to wear gloves and wash their hands while making your burrito. the food was incredible- so dont let this scare you. but you get to decide if its worth or not in the first 24hrs after eating. Okay I never did leave a review anywhere. But my lunch was so delicious just now, I was moved to jump up and rave about it. So I went to the new Pāhoa location. Ordered the Queso Birria plate with consomé. Let me tell you that was perfection. And I've tried a lot of Birria. Didn't think they could the beat the one I love at Wahiawā's Taqueria El Ranchero. (Was my fave). But they did. The queso was delicious. The Birria was so soft and tender with just the right amount of fat. The onions and cilantro so fresh. The consomé was so tasty and not too oily or salty. Paired with the right rice and beans... omg so mouthwatering good! Compliments to the chef. Also service was pretty quick even though there was quite a bit of people ahead of me. My husband loved his Tres pollo taco plate too. Prices considering the market was reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. 5 stars for sure. Picture doesn't even do it justice. Oh and the cook even came out to check on us. I kinda debated reviewing this place cause it was just meh. The food wasn't bad but not especially good either. I like that they have a selection of different meats to choose from but if you want flautas there are only 2 options - chicken and pork. Entrees we're ok. Birria lacked flavor. You couldn't taste the complexity that is supposed to be in consume. Beans were ok, the verdict is still out if they're from a can. Rice tasted like it was from a package. Service wasn't great.
