This is an amazing street taco stand! And they are open late! Tacos are $3 each (chicken, asada, pastor) - we got one of each and they were fantastic! Burritos are $14 - chive of meat, grilled cheese (beautifully melted / crispy), beans, rice, onions, cilantro. (Tip; if you get pastor hot off the spit ask for fresh pineapple!) we got pastor because they said it's their best and they were not joking - it was amazing! They have all kinds of fixings on the table like sliced, cold cucumber, fresh pico de guillo, cilantro, onions etc. All their sauces are extradorinaiy! ...but watch out for the habanero one (orange) - it is HOT!! I had this place bookmarked for a while, but I was finally checking this place out on the way home from work one night. The stand is located on the corner of Pico and Hobart Blvd (near the Ktown/ Harvard Heights area) and I think they're known for their al pastor. And I have to say, this is probably some of the best al pastor that I've had personally in LA. They also have a great salsa and toppings bar, and I love to use it and dress up my own tacos here. The service is very friendly and the vibe, at least when I went, is really chill. It wasn't busy at all maybe because it was late night on a weeknight. I didn't mess around. I just ordered tacos at this place. And the tacos are really delicious. Lots of parking in the area since when I went at least all the businesses around were closed. read more

Visiting my family here in LA, I always make the pilgrimage to tacos la Guera and in-n-out; two major culinary contributions to the gastronomy world. Tacos al pastor, lengua, asada, tripe all gets loving, but it's the spit roasted shwarma style al pastor which gets top billing. With a solid lineup of fresh and clean prepared vegetable condiments and multiple sauces to satisfy most tastes; this is where I am at my happy place. Tacos al pastor topped with fresh onions, pickled onions peppers, cilantro, radish and/or cucumbers: bathed in green spicy sauce and lime squeeze is my personal prep. One or two bites later, all that remains are the greasy fingers/lips, spicy residual kick in the mouth, BOOM in my tummy as the taco settles in and the euphoric blood rush to the head. Just a pure simple street eating experience. Have had quesadilla, which is fine. They did up the prices to 1.5 for tacos 7 for burritos and quesadilla: but it's still reasonable. Their clientele is typically Latin, but with some of the cognoscenti foodies mixed in. Good food transcends color of skin. I went back to ask for a refund and they refused because I paid with Zelle. the meat smelled bad and was told because they cook the asada meat with manteca . I first got to try these amazing tacos at their location in East LA as I was dragged out on an impromptu taco run that became a voyage, scouring through the city, interrogating random taco trucks, in search of the "Taco Man Not Taco Man" stand, since it wasn't listed anywhere, nor could we remember the name. When we found it, it was well worth the journey. Such satisfying, flavor-infused, homey treats, and not to mention cheap. I'm sure driving all over the city while starving/hangry made the tacos that much more amazing. Anyway, the guy at the grill nonchalantly mentioned that they have a truck on Hobart/Pico. There are an amazing amount of tacos trucks, carts, and restaurants everywhere in LA in general, but few of these can even come close to Tacos La Guera. This place definitely has a one up on most other taco joints just because they have a rotating shawarma style that they use for their tacos al pastor. Not only this, they also have a really cool setup being right outside a Smart and Final on the corner of Pico and Hobart. They have lights hang from the fence to the street light and so it's not hard to see them. At $1.25 per taco, there tacos are very fairly priced too. I will say, Tacos La Guera is not quite as good as Tacos El Gordo, but for a food cart, it's hard to expect anything more. I pulled up around 9:45 on a Friday night and there was a smallish line. Luckily by the time I ordered, they put up a fresh pineapple and the trompo was perfectly charred. There was a bottle neck at the salsa line, but the taco was still hot once I made it through. The first bite was magical, like I wish I could go back in time and relive that moment. I ordered three tacos, but after that first bite I knew I needed to order two more. By the time I went back for seconds the line was pretty long and it was really getting busy. It was even harder to add my cilantro, onion, and salsas on this order but I really didn't mind because all I could think about was how good these tacos were about to be. The tacos are so good, you want to eat the scraps that fell on the plate when you're done. The red salsa is spicy and perfect and being able to add your own cilantro and onion (instead of the baggies everyone else gives you) is great as well.
