I have been going to Chuchys since it was just a stand by Granger, so it is really disappointing to see how much the quality has gone down at this National City location. While their catering service is still awesome, the everyday food here has completely missed the mark. On my recent visit, the al pastor was exceptionally chewy and the flavor was just off. To top it off, the service was incredibly unenthusiastic. The cashier had a poor attitude and seemed like she would rather be doing absolutely anything other than her job. Given the current prices and the noticeable drop in quality, I think it is best to stick to other taco shops in the area. I am giving this place 2 stars based on their past reputation, but I won't be back to this location. read more

I was a huge fan when they catered a work event. Unfortunately, my in store experience sadly did not match up. Agua Frescas were delicious! They will give you a sample of drinks and meat if you request it. Al Pastor had a lot of grease and fat on it, carne asada tasted slightly better. Carne asada fries had a lot of fries and very little sour cream. Their salsa bar has a large salsa collection - none that tasted good to me. California burrito is around 8 inches and tasted okay...probably because I couldn't find a salsa I liked to pair with it. read more

I very much enjoy the tacos here and the salsas/condiments. My girlfriend had brought it to me one day and since then we've come here quite a few times. The service is fairly quick and the staff were kind even bringing me napkins for our drinks. The area was clean and organized. It's a good spot for tacos I've never had anything but that so I can't speak on the other stuff on the menu but I really like them. We're going to continue coming back for the foreseeable future. read more

Came here a few weeks ago on a Saturday night .. After bar hopping. It was around 1030pm and there was a line, my brother in law had been here several times and said the tacos were delicious.. We got in line to order our food, when we got to the cashier she told us they were busy and it was going to be a wait.. We ordered out food and waited, and waited and waited. It took almost an hour to get 3 tacos and a quesadilla. The tacos are good, but be prepared to wait if you go on a Saturday night. I also noticed that it shows they are open 24hrs, but they are not. My first visit was decent. Second visit made me sick. I originally liked the place because the tacos weren't full of oil. However the second time around I took a big bite and when I looked my plate was already filling up with grease. I spit it out is disgust, shortly after my stomach started to turn from the single bite of oil. Wasted my money on oil & tortillas. Will not be coming back. Horrible tonight! Why do I get crisp tripas one visit and tonight 7/10/25 just some luke warm, soft , pale bits of crap. Inconsistent meat portioning and lazy ass cook made me a pico de gallo burrito instead of a carne asada burrito. So much pico the burrito fell apart & super soggy. Never coming back read more

For catering this is one of the best Taco businesses in San Diego hands down! Not only are they one of the most affordable ones but the quality of tacos are very good & so are the portions. The customer service for the most part is good. Their Carne Asada is real good as is their other tacos but their best is their Carne Asada & yes their chicken tacos! They have one of the best TJ style chicken tacos I've ever had no lie. They use to have a little stand in National City on Granger Ave in front of their head quarters an old building that use to be a bar called Cozy Corner that my Mendez fam use to own. It's good to see the building is still up & being used for good, to serve tacos to SD. Was sad to see their stand go but happy to know they cater any event you need they even do funerals. So go ahead book them & hey maybe invite me, I'll even go to a funeral & bring holy water & a rosary & pray as long as I can take 6 tacos to go :) read more

If you haven't already tried this taco stand you need to! I've used them to cater several parties including a wedding and oh man are they the best! They taste like the real deal TJ tacos. I was Happy to come across one of their taco stands. Prices are reasonable also. Pictured are the carne asada, adobada and lengua tacos. COVID review: We had them cater a few of our events, I must say not only was I impressed with the taste of everything but my guests as well. When I found out they had open up a few locations (3) I was more than thrilled to eat the tacos again. Everyone was really friendly. Everyone was as well following protocol. We where there before opening, but did not mind waiting. The home made tortillas definitely take the tacos to the next level. We ordered Alpastor and Birria tacos (our first time trying their birria). Again, the taste exceeded our expectations. All the parings complimented the tacos well, but their guacamole again took them to the next level. The alpastor tacos come with double tortilla and the birria with a single one. Not a bad spot. It's a little stand on the corner or the street that sells mexican style hotdogs and a variety of tacos. I bought 2 adobada tacos just to try them out as this was my first time here. First off, I was very pleased with the quality of the tortilla. It was a single tortilla which I really liked. Not a big fan of the double tortilla they give at a lot of places. It was soft and warmed to perfection. Guacamole dip that they put was pretty decent and tasted like actual guacamole. It was nothing like the mayonnaise kind of dip you get from other places. The adobada was pretty tasty as well. For those of you who are familiar with national city adobada spots, it was definitely better than Tacos El G on highland and Los Famosos on plaza. What makes it a 4 star review for me is the $2.50 price tag and not yet knowing whether or not the price is worth the quality. Will be going back soon to see if I bump it up to a 5 star review.
