Agonizing over Sunday dinner and paralyzed by indecision while scrolling through Yelp and Google Maps, I stumbled upon Taqueria La Doña. The small storefront, spartan bar counter seating, simple menu, and photos of tacos that looked like they came straight out of East LA sold me instantly. At the counter, I ordered four tacos ($4 each): head, tongue, stomach, and crispy pork. I paid there and was told it would take about 10 minutes. Moments later, the kitchen erupted with loud chopping noises - clearly, those 10 minutes were being used to freshly prep my order. The tacos arrived double-shelled and topped with meat, diced onions, and cilantro. On the side were lime wedges and slices of small radish. The shells were thin yet fluffy, soft, and warm. Each taco was portioned just right - enough meat to fill them generously without spilling everywhere (okay, maybe one rogue piece of onion), but otherwise packed to the brim. The head and tongue were extra juicy and tender, the stomach had a pleasantly springy texture, and the crispy pork lived up to its name - extremely crispy. All the meats were simply seasoned with a bit of salt, letting the textures and freshness shine. Extra sauces are available at the table. Not many places around here come close to what you'd find in DTLA or San Diego. But Taqueria La Doña serves tacos that wouldn't feel out of place being handed out of a truck on Olympic or University Ave. Sure, it's cheaper back home, but I'm happy to pay $4 per taco when I'm not flying to LA for the holidays.

Love the tamales, tacos, burritos, and quesadillas we have had so far! Best tamale I have tried. So far my husband loves the birria burrito and I love the carnitas taco best.

Absolutely fantastic tacos. Exactly what I've been looking for. Service was fast, tacos and tamales were out of this world.

I first saw the restaurant while driving by one day and so added it to my list to check out. Today I had the chance to stop in for lunch. I stuck to the beef tacos and ordered: 1 birria, 2 cabeza and 1 lengua. Everything came out with cilantro and onions (you can customize your toppings if this isn't your style). I also got the Jamaica agua Fresca. Everything here from the service to the food is excellent. The seating is bar style and so it feels a bit communal which is always nice. Undoubtedly the best beef tacos in downtown Nashua.

The most authentic tacos you'll find in Nashua, front counter woman is very nice and food comes out in no time. Don't sleep on this place

Amazing! Best taqueria around. If you're from Texas or Cali, this is the place to go. You gotta get a torta.

As a Latina, I was pleasantly surprised of the authenticity of the tacos. Some of the best tacos in NH! I highly recommend.

It was a Friday night and surprisingly pretty empty, which honestly I didn't mind at all because it made for a more relaxed experience. The ambiance was actually really nice for a casual night out. Since it wasn't busy, there wasn't a lot of noise, just light music playing in the background, and we could actually hear ourselves talk without yelling across the table. Ironically, even though I came looking for tacos, I didn't order any . We ended up getting the chicken quesadilla and the Enchiladas Lokas, and both dishes were delicious. Everything came out hot, flavorful, and satisfying. For drinks, we tried the house margarita and a tamarind margarita. I specifically asked about the tamarind because I really like that flavor and wanted it to come through more. While the margarita itself was good, the tamarind flavor kind of got lost along the way. One thing that definitely stood out was the service. Our server was attentive, helpful, and checked in on us throughout the night. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll definitely be back, maybe next time I'll finally order the tacos

At 2pm the restaurant seemed lively even at less than half capacity. I got seated, placed an order, and received my food within 5 minutes. The complimentary chips and salsa seemed decent. Light, not too oily or salty, but held up to the salsa. The salsa itself had a hint of herbal. A bit sweet for my taste but that's a personal nitpick. My order was the lunch special version of the Pollo Sinaloa ($14.99) - half a chicken breast marinated and grilled with zucchini, mushrooms, onion, and peppers served with rice, beans, and 2 flour tortillas. The chicken was in the form of a thin cutlet and a bit small. However, the overall portion proved quite filling. Rice, beans, and grilled vegetables all tasted like, well, rice beans and grilled vegetables. WYSIWYG Service was cordial and pleasant. My server had some extra energy and pep that seemed genuine. Overall, this was the prototypical Mexican-American restaurant experience. Food aside, it had the decorative plates, stylized interior, and Spanish music playing.

Nothing fresh on the plate, generally unappetizing. Ambiance is festive and staff were mildly attentive. I get the sense people come for margaritas and Happy Hour more than the food. Overall it was just 'fine' and nothing to write home about. I've had MUCH better Mexican, this is on the bottom of my list.

I think it's important to share feedback not only for other diners but also for restaurants owners/…read moreoperators. While it has been awhile since I last wrote a review I thought this dining experience warranted one. Experience: - The Square is super cute and offers ample parking. -The bathrooms smell awful, from the moment you walk in the hallway there is clearly a plumbing issue present which has been present our last two visits.. rough way to start your experience at a restaurant. -The menu, no issue with prices going up but using white out over the prices, hand writing new prices which is barely legible is tacky to say the least. -Following our order the food came out nearly immediately and it was clear the guacamole to our main dishes are made in advance and not done well. - To the mgmt team -3% surcharge to use a credit card is a joke, add it to your price or offer a cash/ debit discount not the other way around. On the food side: -The beans were prepared with way too much salt.. inedible was the way we would describe it.. -Mexican rice was awful. No sign of a single vegetable or herbs... Mexican rice should and can be made flavorful with ease by any chef. -The guacamole was clearly made well in advance and brown... I'm sorry, happy to pay a premium for guac at a restaurant but this product shows no effort to ensure freshness. -Main dishes , both submerged in oil and our chicken was served nearly cold... fajitas served lukewarm and lacking flavor which seems hard to do but that was our experience. - Drinks - the unsweetened ice tea was served carbonated for some odd reason from their soda machine... not drinkable sorry. Service: - servers were kind and attentive, checking in routinely for anything we may need which was deeply appreciated. After a few shots at this restaurant we both agreed there is a reason the restaurant is empty, the food , the ambiance, the overall experience for our hard earned money. TLDR for the restaurant - take pride in your food, take a fresh look at the diners experience, Mexican food should be vibrant, flavorful and delicious, this is by far the worst finished product we have ever had in NH and simply put not worth a visit unless something drastic changes.
