It pains me to write this because I've ordered take out from the place religiously!! I finally decided to dine in and had one of the worst customer experiences of my life. Went with a few friends and the first waiter was quite nice even though it did take him a solid 15 mins to come back to take out order and we tried to get someone's attention for so long. But ya know what? It was slightly busy so I looked past it, no big deal. Then once all of us got our foods, one of our friends said her food tasted weird. I told her to say something but as I said we order from this place religiously so she said it was fine. Then the more she ate the more she realized she had to say something bc her food tasted like bleach. So in the end she called the waiter over and asked if they could make her a new order. She didn't make a big deal. Mistakes are made sometimes in the kitchen. Maybe the plate wasn't cleaned properly. Maybe the staff didn't wash their hands properly. All she wanted was a new order. Instead of giving us the new order another waiter came over to tell us that the kitchen staff refused to make a new order because my friend had already eaten the food. Instead of apologizing for the food tasting like BLEACH he choose to be rude instead. I then stepped in to argue with him to which he said that he wouldn't charge us for the food. I understand that the restaurant wants to save money but because you wanted to be cheap you lost loyal customers. In the end I didn't say anything and just asked for the bill. We waited roughly 25-30 mins for the bill. And the only reason we even got it was because I had to go up to the counter and ask for it. The bill was here on the table the whole time, already printed ,,,, guess all 7 waiters forgot about it. Oh, and also the water cups were absolutely disgusting. I don't even wanna think about how that filth got into our water cups. All in all, will never be back. Hopefully they have a manager on staff at all times that actually know how to properly deal with customers instead of half assed trained waiters. read more

Went to this place all the way from Long Island ! I had to stand at the door literally blocking the entrance and no one will come to ask me and the other people how many people we were or to say anything at all.. Finally someone came to ask. Place was full. So we had to wait about 1 hr.. We got the table. We ordered the drinks, girl wanted us to order right away. I said just give us a minute, then we ordered. I ordered a salad and then I ordered 3 tacos. Tacos came. Not the salad. When I was finishing the tacos the girl came with the salad. Im.used to eat the saldria before the main course. Anyhow, I was here with my partner for 1 hr and no one will come to our table to ask us how was it or if we need anything else. No one came to get the plates. Etc We had to raise our hand to get someone's attention. They came to pick up the plates. But didn't ask if we need anything else..(again) So we had to raise the hand again to order the desert.. We ordered flan. 15 minutes later no flan.. we ask again. They said that it was finish. That they were trying to defrost one from the freezer. Etc Got the flan, no one will again come and ask if we need anything else . Even they almost forgot to bring the check. We could just leave with out paying!!!! Terrible service. Too bad! read more

Okay next to my other favorite place JALAPENOS, this is a must go to. I know they have a few locations and every location is DELISH! I started going here for my TACOS and never left but I juggle between this location and another depending how close I am to the places. Tacos Matamoros is absolutely on point with their tacos. Other places and tex-mex places are imposters next to this place. They have excellent spicey sauces and toppings for your tacos. I usually play it safe and easy with my beef, shrimp, chicken tacos. I have had their steak sandwiches and they are amazing. It's called something else but in case you don't speak spanish I keep it simple. Their service is wonderful. The pricing is reasonable and the place is clean, decorative and inviting all around. If you are in the neighborhood, try this place first or if you are looking for improvement then you must go here. Don't give up on TACOS until you have tried this place. I assure you. read more

Tacos come in two sizes, about $1.50 for small and about $2.50 for large. I ordered the large and the portions were quite generous, the enchilada (spiced shredded pork) taco was by far my favorite. The carne asada taco was okay, although I don't typically eat beef tacos. Presentation on the tacos is fantastic, while the wrapping is firm and tidy as not to get too messy. Unfortunately, they only had American Coke. Perhaps they were out of stock... The menu is written in Spanish with some English subtitles and did not know what some things were. Okay, I've eaten here three times already. The place deserves five stars. Price, decor, food - everything is above expectations. I had a burrito one time. It was great. The tacos are delicious and I believe that on some days they make the tortillas by hand. Sometimes they use regular commercial tortillas. I had the mole poblano, it was tasty and not too spicy. Guacamole is a must, evn though they charge a little for it. Oh, I forgot, the flavored waters are all delicious. My family and I come here often to eat. The food is great. Unfortunately today the service was terrible. Our waitress was simply an order taker. She just took our food order and we never saw her again. We saw her taking other orders from other tables but not once did she come back to check on us. My family and I wanted another round of drinks but we did not feel like flagging her down after waiting for her to come check on us. It was extremely frustrating. I ordered shrimp tacos Not realizing how big they were I was never properly told even after I asked how big they were, the waiter said their small I said fine. I soon realized they were big and they didn't want to change my order even though I just ordered like 2mins ago, I pay for the food and they don't have change??!?! I absolutely love Tacos Matamoros! It's become one of my go-to Mexican restaurants, especially after a night out. The food is consistently on point, and I can't get enough of their carnitas tacos--definitely a 10/10! The $30 pitcher of margaritas is also a fantastic deal. There have been a few times when certain menu items weren't available, especially on holidays and weekends, but it hasn't taken away from the overall experience. I felt like I was in Mexico eating a meal Tacos Matamoros has the best tacos in New York City. It is the closest tacos that taste like the ones I had in Mexico I got the Roast Meat, Roast Pork, Steak, Chicken, Spicy Pork, and the Pork Stomach. 6 tacos are all for myself. Can't believe I have never tried this taco spot in the neighborhood before! I had the chicken flautas with rice and beans and my friends had tacos. Everything was delicious. The food and drinks are all very cheap and good so it's no wonder the place stays busy. The margarita and pina colada were tasty and cheap at around $5.75 each- not easy to find those kind of prices on drinks in NYC! I'll start with the food is AMAZING. But the service is awful.. awfullllllllllll. I used to go to the smaller one further up on 5th ave. all the time and I absolutely loved the waitresses there. Okk this place i Rate 3 stars ; Pretty great tacos, There prices are not bad for a burrito. loveee the guac / pico de gallo.... Service is ok, not one of the bests though. Food was a little disappointing. Our food came out in a few minutes and it definitely wasn't fresh. We got Regular Nachos which was ok, and we also ask for beef and cheese enchiladas which we thought they would mix beef and cheese in all 3 enchiladas, but instead of that 2 had beef only and 1 with cheese only, thought that was pretty funny though lol read more

I love this place. The music volume is just right of "I can have a conversation with friends" and "its the right ambiance." The prices are great and the sauces are the best I've had anywhere.
