Across from the Mercado (which was fun in itself), my husband's cousins recommended this place because we just needed to cross the street. Having to cross into Mexico, I slightly prayed the food would be border crossing worthy. It was. We ordered the birria (beef), asada, and tripa (intestines). Well, I did. The tripa and asada were great. I was a little nervous with the birria. I wasn't sure if I was a fan yet. But if ordering another round isn't an indicator, I don't know what is. lol The service was good. Our waitress came, memorized our order perfectly. That was a nice surprise because my husband and I kept changing our order and we were skeptical. Some of the tacos came out slower than others (especially during round 2 & 3). Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night sad because I was having this incredible dream that I was eating here! We stayed in a hotel near this place and I was willing to go anywhere for the perfect birria taco (that is a specialty here in Tijuana) for my good luck the hotel staff told me that this place was one of the best ones and it was in walking distance . They have dine in and take out, we got ourselves a table and I'm glad we were there "early" 9am became once we were seated a lot of people started to show up to dine in and to take away food so that gave me a good clue that we were in the Right place. Well when I got there I wasn't sure how many tacos to order but I knew I wanted that consomé or "soup" where you can dunk your taco in, I order a small cup of that and 2 birria tacos (for a good start you know) The soup is so flavorful you don't need to add anything to it some people may like to add lime or salsa and that's great but just as it is IT WAS DELICIOUS and then you pair it with the tacos and it's heaven on earth. I wanted to try the "quesabirria" which is basically a quesadilla with birria meat in it, I order 2 of dose. When I tell you my mind exploded from the pleasure and so much deliciousness that I was dealing with I'm not lying. This is probably one of the best birria tacos I've had in all of Mexico! Came on a Sunday morning and many people are already in line! You know this place is lit when you have hoards of locals waiting in line for food. I would describe this as local Tijuanians favorite brunch spot. It did not disappoint. I love that they take COVID seriously by measuring temps and make you wash your hands and use sanitizer before you go into the shop to order and eat. The soup that came with the birria is absolutely Devine and I eventually drank the whole cup after I finished dipping my wet tacos. Yes they are that good! We went to have breakfast and one of the children asks me. Dad, what is this? It was a worm about 1 inch long in his taco. We communicated this to the waiter and he just said sorry. The children no longer wanted to eat and wanted to leave. The waiter gave us the full bill even though we all had tacos that we didn't even touch anymore because of this. The manager told me "it's a clean worm, it's made from vegetables" as if it were nothing. The cashier was upset because we asked that they discount the tacos that we did not touch. As if it were our responsibility to pay for worm tacos. Zero customer service and zero taking responsibility for this. As it is a vegetable worm it is clean. Eat it.
