There was a line when we got there on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm and that took about 20 minutes before we could order. All of us got the triple play which is an order of three tacos any flavor u want. I loved my spicy crispy shrimp and my families choice of carne asada and the battered up. Bahn mi had a tang I didn't love and the grilled fish was fine but not as flavorful as the crispy shrimp and carne asada. My family loved the Gangnam style, crispy shrimp, carne asada and grilled shrimp best. Hard to recommend certain tacos bc everyone has different ideas about what they like but I couldn't get over the crispy shrimp crunch with tender juicy interior. And the carne asada had such strong classic flavors because of their stunningly good guacamole! So of course if u like guac u need to order their guac and chips!

This taco place is a real winner!…read more The whole vibe of this outside eatery is really chill and beachy. There is plenty of seating available for all different party sizes and the area is kept well clean. The building for ordering is also nicely kept, with their artsy, neatly pressed chalkboard menu on the wall. Even though this place typically has a line, workers are quick and the line moves fairly fast! There are so many unique, interesting options available for their tacos, like their poke and banh mi inspired tacos. I really enjoyed their batter up and ahi poke tacos. I would recommend ordering the triple play since it comes with 3 tacos and a side of chips for $12.50, which seems like the best deal. There are also appetizers like egg rolls and ceviche available, which I think may be worth a try if you are dining with a larger party. All my tacos were served hot and fresh! I was really impressed with the quality--tasty and well crafted, with specific taco shell types matching the inner ingredients of the tacos to maximize the flavor experience. The only issue my party encounter was the parking, which can be crowded and difficult at times, but aside from that I would recommend this place for anyone taco lovers! You will love their unique and diverse selection of tacos! This place is perfect for enjoying lunch and the sunny Santa Barbara weather.

Their service was absolutely amazing, as well as their communication and timeliness. The food was delicious so much so that all of my friends and family praised how tasteful it was. The drinks are yummy too! I couldn't be more happy with how everything went. I was already a customer previously before my wedding, and I really enjoy their tacos and burritos! If you're wondering if you should use them as a vendor for your upcoming event, definitely do it!

As soon as we walked in, the woman working the register seemed visibly annoyed that we had come in before closing and rolled her eyes at us. She immediately said, "Umm, we're closing, so you want to take it to go?" We were already planning on taking our food to go, so the attitude felt completely unnecessary. While we were waiting for our order, another customer walked up to ask her a question, and she continued staring down at her phone and completely ignored her. The woman actually had to say, "Excuse me?" just to get her attention. I completely understand wanting to wrap things up at the end of a shift, but if a business is still open, customers shouldn't be made to feel unwelcome for coming in during posted business hours. We specifically chose this place because of the great reviews, so this was a really disappointing first impression.

Back to table service! Yay!!!…read more Attractive and very clean restaurant with great service. Truly delicious Mexican food. I love pozole - Cc's rendition is top notch and comes with all the extras to put in the soup including avocado, chopped onion, a whole fried tortilla to break up into the broth and Mexican oregano (the small is more than enough for one hungry person or to share with two).Homemade chips come with a four salsa selection ranging substantially hot to a delicate tomatillo green. I tried my tablemate's tacos, all three varieties were very very good. I've had takeout from here, but it's really worth going in person because the food is nuanced and best when piping hot as it's made.

It was featured on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list but started off as a pop-up. You get in line and order your food. Then you get a buzzer that rings when your food is ready. They have some dedicated seating for customers but you can sit anywhere in the public market. We got the al pastor ($6.95) and coliflor ($7.95) tacos. The sizes were bigger than normal but I thought they could've used a little salt and the al pastor was a little tough. The sal de mar ceviche ($23.95) could've used more salt and lime but it was still refreshing with the watermelon. For drinks both the passionfruit margarita ($21) and hibiscus margarita ($24) were good. You can ask for their three salsas of varying spice levels. The food and drinks were on the pricier side too but we didn't think the quality matched the price.

Los Agaves On De Lavina St. -- A Rare Review from Someone Who Hates Writing Reviews…read moreI spent 25 years owning a business. I know what good service looks like, and I know what entitled looks like. I never write reviews -- I watched Yelp destroy good people over bad nights, and I swore I'd stay out of it. Tonight changed that. I sat at the bar. It took the bartender over five minutes to acknowledge I existed. Another five to ten to deliver a Coke. I ordered dinner and waited forty minutes -- which I might have forgiven, except getting his attention was nearly impossible the entire night. No eye contact. Body language that made clear I was an inconvenience, not a guest. Every interaction felt like I was interrupting something more important. When I finally got him to check on my order, he went to the computer and discovered he'd never placed it. I walked out. I noticed the people around me weren't faring much better. The slowness wasn't just my experience -- it was the room. Los Agaves appears to be a popular place, and maybe on another night with another bartender it earns that reputation. But entitlement has a way of spreading when nobody checks it. I hope management is paying attention -- because a beautiful restaurant dies one invisible guest at a time.

Visited twice in one day -- that should tell you everything…read more I make a point of hitting up a different taco spot whenever I'm in Santa Barbara, and this trip I did both locations back to back: the diner on Milpas, then the food truck near the SB Bowl a few hours later. Standout was the rajas con queso -- genuinely one of the best versions I've had, and somehow even better from the truck than the diner. Also tried pastor, cabeza, carnitas, and shrimp, and every single one delivered. No weak link on the menu. What I appreciate about Pipeye is that it's not a tourist-line spot -- it's the kind of place locals actually recommend when you ask. I posed that exact question to a Mexican family, and after a beat of consideration, their answer was Tacos Pipeye. That tracked with everything I'd already experienced. If you're comparing SB taco spots -- La Super-Rica gets the tourist attention, but ask around and you'll hear El Bajío and Lilly's come up just as often among people who eat here regularly. Pipeye belongs in that conversation too, and for me, it's currently at the top. Diner and food truck both worth seeking out. Will be back next visit.

I…read moredidn't want to leave Santa Barbara without getting proper tacos, so naturally I took his advice. And the tacos were amazing! Four for $12 is such a good deal. I got the chicharron, al pastor, chorizo with potatoes, and carnitas. A symphony of pork if you will. Each filling was very flavorful. The meats were marinated and seasoned well. But then adding the salsas balanced the richness of each type of pork. To break it down even further, the carnitas were juicy. The al pastor had a nice smoky notes. The texture of the chicharron was soft due to the saturation from the salsa, yet still had a some chewiness. And the chorizo and potatoes were filling. Lastly, the handmade corn tortillas were soft and also flavorful. My mom got the quesadilla with carnitas, and that was also really good. We added a side of rice because rice is life, and it was fluffy with a nice brightness from the tomatoes. Service was great - the gentleman who took our order was friendly and welcoming. The space is small, but the tacos come out fast so turn around time can be quick. There's bar seating inside and out, and there's a few tables inside as well. It's going to be hard to go anywhere else if I want tacos. I'm totally coming back for more.
