The french fries were perfection. If you see this truck, do not hesitate to order. Top quality and amazing flavor combos.

The parking is either street parking or the adjacent lot for $6. There is seating on the grass nearby or at The Victorian restaurant next door. The lot is small and a little crowded with the trucks, the lines and people walking through. There are also a couple of vendors selling jewelry and trinkets. Drinks are sold at a makeshift bar or at The Victorian. It's a nice event where you can try food from several trucks without having to deal with massive crowds and traffic. I love this place!…read more Being new to the area, this has been me n hubby's weekly stop for a number of reasons! 1. compared to first fridays, and being on a tuesday, this lot is real chlll and allows you to walk around freely as you shop the trucks menus 2. every week brings different trucks, so there is always someone new to try! 3. parking is not bad at all.......... some weeks, you may have to walk a block or 2; other weeks, you get lucky and find a spot in the lot right next to the venue! but, over all its do able 4. The added bonuses of nearby shopping! because of this great location, you can stuff your face, take a break and hit up a couple shops, go back for dessert, and then go home happy! you've completed your dinner, an evening walk, and had a nice dessert!

Yet, it was just me. I begin to ask, which is better, Mongolian BBQ or Korean BBQ? The guy said Korean BBQ. For the Korean BBQ, which is better, the beef or the spicy pork? He said the beef is more popular. So the beef it is. How spicy do you want it? Sometimes I can handle spicy but today I requested for mild. Wait about five minutes and my order is ready. It's certainly a heavy plate caring it to a table I can just hoover this quickly. A nice helping of rice topped with beef and some vegetables is a portion fit for lunch. Something to hold me over for a late dinner for sure. Wish there was more kimchee but the macaroni salad was enough to put me into a food coma.

Which takes me to the West LA/Sawtelle neighborhood where I had the chance in trying out "El Paladar Oaxaqueno Taco Truck". Located directly on Santa Monica Blvd and just west of the 405 freeway, this popular mobile food truck has been around since the mid-2000's. And if you're looking for something that operates in the wee hours of the night, they are opened for business 7 days a week from 6:30am-3:00am. I arrived here a little after 8:20pm as I was looking for a meal to hold me through the night. As for the parking, it can be a bit challenging but I was able to find something just around the block. This truck is highly visible from Santa Monica Blvd and not hard to miss. As far as the ordering process goes, this place also offers food delivery (as of 2024) to all the major apps; DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Postmates. But I am someone that enjoys going to place as well as conversing with the employees/staff. Since there was no line during my visit, I walked right up and told the gentleman I would like three Carne Asada tacos (toppings on the side) and one Carne Asada burrito with no rice. Total price came out to around $24 which is quite a bit higher than the trucks in East LA/South Central LA. After making the 20 minute drive back to my hotel room, the tacos and burrito are still piping hot. As far as the flavor, these definitely have that distinctive LA "flavor" as this was seasoned very well and a very unique and acquired taste that you can't find in cities such as San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento. Their menu is as extensive as you'd expect as they carry several proteins; Asada, Pastor, Pollo, Chorizo, Cabeza, Lengua, and many more. And as for the selection goes, you have your choice of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, tlayudas, tostadas, mulitas, enfrijoladas, nachos, and salads. And finally the Mexican refreshments that include Coca-Cola, horchata, aguas frescas, and much more. The pros of "El Paladar Oaxaqueno Taco Truck" are arguably the amazing flavor that these things pack into them as well as a great location that is easily accessible. The cons were the very high prices (I believe my Asada burrito was around $15) and the salsas were just too watered down. Overall not a bad meal but I've had way better, especially in the Los Angeles area. When you factor in great service, above average food, but mediocre prices, I will have to rate this place 4-stars. But they are open until 3:00am so a night out of drinking at the bar/club and your opinion might change.

I stopped by to grab dinner with a friend, and was surprised at the amount of food we got considering the prices they were charging. We started off with a sizable Cecina Taco ($1.50) that came with two layers of corn tortillas, thin Oaxacan marinated pork, pico de gallo, guacamole and a drizzle of mole on top. The marinated pork was meaty and tender but the salty marinade was one-dimensional at best. The guacamole was not as thick textured as it should be, but the sweet flavors overlapped nicely with the pointed onions, cilantros, and chunky pieces of cecina. It was mouthfuls of deliciousness. I also ordered a Lengua Torta ($4.50) that looked like a humongous whopper with wide torta buns, a spread of black beans, chunky lengua with easy to shred texture, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and mayo. The buns were a tad on the frail side and I'm not a fan of lettuce in tortas or other types of sandwiches. However, it is the largest torta I've seen in a long while, and they also threw in a lot of chips, pickled carrots, a jumbo jalapeno, and a side a dull spicy lingering salsa that could use a hint of smoke to complete the value meal. Overall there was little to complain about as they were very thoughtful at wrapping our food so the temperature and freshness can be maintained without making a mess by the time it was brought home. The best part of the meal was their bottled non-dairy Strawberry Horchata that served as the perfect finisher. I love horchata and have been struggling to find the non-dairy version so from now on I'll know where to get it. To sum it up, I'd characterize their cuisine as one that puts a strong focus on freshness, good value, and a breadth of ingredients that were tasty when layered together. I can't say this trick is better than the authentic taquerias in the Mission District, but for a food truck, their extensive offerings beat the heck out of the many gourmet trucks where a generous wholesome meal and hard to beat prices can be expected. I'd love to return to try their Tlayuda and Tasajo plate.

I had ingested several bites of it, (with hot sauce), but I couldn't take another bite. The meat was chemically contaminated & I got sick not long after for the whole night. It was important for me to tell the person that runs the stand. I had the best of intentions to help this business and wanted nothing in return. I walked up to the stand & asked the woman who takes the cash, (with the sharp eyebrows), if I could please speak to the person in charge, (or owner). At first she ignored me & then said, "I don't understand - no speak English." I asked who speaks English and she sent me to the back of the line by the cooks. I stood there for another 10 minutes and no one wanted to talk to me or answer my question. I told them that there was a big problem with their meat the night before & had brought back the entire meal, so they could try the meat. No one did anything except talk to each other in Spanish, (which I understood). The cook graciously offered me a replacement meal & tried to problem solve. The tall man, who spoke English, (as shown next to cashier Karen in the photo), was going to give me a replacement meal. I waited 15-20 minutes. I asked for the chicken quesadilla, and the vitriol that came out of cashier Karen, who said she didn't speak English was unbelievable. She refused to give me any food and said I had to pay $6 for the replacement taco. I tried to tell her that it was a replacement and she kept yelling aggressively at me and said, "no - you pay $6. You're not getting anything " and that I, "never bought any taco." She became angry and verbally abusive because I was getting a replacement meal, as a solution to my getting chemically poisoned. She was a bully and aggressively yelling at me to humiliate me in front of the other customers & personnel. By this time she had no problem speaking English. (A group of young ladies started talking to me, felt bad that I was the focus of cashier Karen's rudeness. They complimented me & wished me a good night.) The guy next to cashier Karen handed me the bag with the quesadilla. I asked cashier Karen for her name and she ignored me. Then I asked the guy next to her what her name was and he put his hands together like duck lips and rudely opened and closed his hand at me, (meaning that I'm talking to much) This was extremely inappropriate & as soon as I left, I threw the food out, because I didn't trust or hold it past any of them to have put something nasty in my food. By the way, there was never a possibility that I would be refunded. By this time I was so upset, I was sorry that I had generously tipped them the night before. Even cashier Karen's response to the tip had been of surprise; but then I remembered she had not even acknowledged it or said thank you, after receiving it. What this staff does not, is that I owned and operated a successful fine dining restaurant & wedding venue for 17 years. I have done consulting for small restaurant businesses, pro bono, in order for the businesses to financially thrive. I know how food is cooked, how it should be stored, when the oil needs to be changed, marketing, accounting, et al., as well as the health dept's requirements, in order to keep the public healthy and well. What I believe happened to the meat and reason I took my food back to the taco stand; is because they had been out of chicken. Since there was a meat shortage, more carne asada needed to be barbecued quickly. An abundance of lighter fluid was used to quicken the process & it possibly got on the grill, where the meat is placed; and the cooking process started well before the coals were ready. It shouldn't matter whether you go to a restaurant, food truck or taco stand, customers should be treated with respect, kindness & consideration - and it's called customer service. A customer shouldn't be lied to, yelled at, insulted and humiliated by any employee of the business. It should be run in a transparent and professional manner. I'm 64 yrs young & have never written one negative comment or review about any restaurant. Nor have I ever been treated with such disrespect, malice and ill intent. I felt it important to tell my story because nobody should experience what I did; in eating compromised food and then being made to feel like I did something bad. This is what bullies do and I've never had a problem in clarifying right from wrong, as well as responsibility and accountability. I didn't have a choice and had to give a star.
