Charged $17 for 3 birria tacos. No signage of the pricing on the truck so unsure if this is consistent. They have stools and a small floating bar if you want to grab a quick bite by the truck. I was happy to find this food truck, which makes authentic Mexican tacos at very reasonable prices. I had the mulita al carnita, which is usually served on a plate, but they were kind enough to wrap in up in foil so I could eat it while walking. Freshly made tortillas with cheese, meat and salsa toppings. I was very happy with my food selection. I only wish I'd had a bigger appetite to sample more of their dishes. The salsas that came with the tacos were surprisingly delicious and I was glad to taste that the red one was actually spicy (a lot of times "spicy" isn't that spicy at all). As a Mexican person myself, I am aware of the flavors Mexican food contains- at least for the "mulas" I ordered. Not only is this place way overpriced but it lacked flavor, the salsas didn't even help. I don't know if it was just a bad day for them but the quality and price definitely did not align! After walking out from the Santa Monica Whaler around the corner from this food truck for feeling discriminated (groups after me were being served while I was ignored), hubby came to my rescue and we happened to find this food truck that was willing to put 2 fried eggs on top of their combination plate for me, which I devoured! Hubby savored the beef tacos. Pricing was very reasonable and made to order without much of a wait. Just pull up a stool and focus on truly authentic, delicious mexican food, fresh and as home-made. The love and passion of the cooks could be tasted in this food. Neighborhood taco trucks are the best! And this particular one is certainly one of them. Love their asada tacos, and green chile tamales, not too greasy and amazing texture. Tried chalupitas for the first time too, which are essentially crispy tacos laid flat with your chosen toppings on top - delicious! I also tried their breakfast too - simple scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onions, queso fresco and tortilla. Service is really great too - the entire family is super nice. Glad to find a taco truck near the Promenade finally! The food quality is great and the price is probably the best you can find in the area it is in. So far I had pupusas, lamb tacos (!!!), chicken tacos and a meat plate. They're all pretty good and done right. I also love that their food is never greasy so it's perfect for lunch and if you eat light. They don't compromise on the hotness of the red hot sauce too. (In fact, it's super spicy so ask for the salsa verde if you don't want salsa that's too spicy) The people running inside are very mom-and-pop so it's refreshing to go to a place like that for lunch in the area. This area in Santa Monica usually only has restaurants run by business men. If you need lunch in the area and you're tired of eating Chipotle because it's nothing like real tacos and burritos, check this truck out. They also have pupusas and tamales when you can't get it elsewhere in Santa Monica. I'm a new regular here. :) read more

Al pastor taco is fresh and flavorful with a sizable portion of meat and excellent corn tortillas. A tasty bargain at $1.75. I agree with both reviews, I tried 4 tacos 3 weeks ago (Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Lengua & Pollo) 3 were all great. Moist, well seasoned with great depth of flavor. I'm a serious cook and a taco junkie, 1-2 days a week for lunch going between favorites and trying new places where I'm usually disappointed. The chicken taco was really moist with some flavor, I don't eat chicken often but I use a barometer & this one was great. The Lengua was good but I prefer boiled rather than grilled The next week I had a delicious Torta with carnitas. Last week I had THE BOMB, barbacoa (lamb) tacos that were of the charts great. I took some back to a couple of farmers at the Wednesday SM farmers market & they both said that those were the BEST tacos they've EVER had. Plus the people are really nice, it's now a must stop every Wednesday when I go to the farmers market. read more

What I liked most about this truck was that the staff were nice. I liked that they serve seafood stuff like camaron tacos and cocteles on certain days. I however, was in a breakfast mood and had their breakfast burrito. Which was hunger-quenching (is that even a word!?) but mostly forgettable. I may have to come back to try more in the future. We spent the day in Santa Monica due in part that it was very hot in Palmdale.. so we opted for a 25 degree difference. As we were getting ready to leave the beach, wife and kids were hungry. So we saw this taco truck near by and gave it a chance. Well we were happy we did. Rare find to say the least. Very nice humble service, great presentation and most of all.... very good mexican food. My wife had the torta which i took a big bite out of and the bread was nice and toasty, everything inside of it was on point. The tacos were delicious!!! The meat was just as great as the salsa, the salsa completed the taco so perfectly. I give it five stars for the taco and five stars for the salsa. When I usually visit other taco spots they lag on the spice and flavor to their salsa or vice versa. Tacos Tuzo offers some bomb salsa a red one, habanero, and green salsa. You just have to try them! Staying in Santa Monica for a month with no car. Looking for a more authentic taco place in the area which is hard to find. Most are chain places in the mall food court pinches taco and taco libra. Both which are ok but not what you should be eating in LA area. Tacos Tuzo was a nice treat authentic tacos. I tried cabeza, al pastor, and barbacoa. All were good the barbacoa was the best especially because they give you the option of having it on a fresh tortilla. The red hot sauce they give you is actually hot. Again much appreciated. I'm not the biggest fan of food trucks so I was reluctant to try it for awhile, even though I pass by it all the time since it's kitty corner to my office. So far I've only tried the tacos, but they have a varied menu and everything looks good. I order the 3 tacos for $5.00 and it fills me up. By far one of the tastiest, most delicious burritos I ever had-- and I don't hand out high praise for burritos, or any food, lightly. Extremely affordable, excellent quality, fast service, very friendly and accommodating staff-- and when I got my burrito, it was packaged beautifully so that there was no way food could spill out and I could easily carry it back to my office.
