Birthday Brunch, Honest Feedback & Great Potential My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday brunch after we started talking about chilaquiles, and he said, "I know the spot." We arrived around noon and the place was packed, which is always a good sign. The food was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. I ordered the machaca, shredded beef with eggs, and it was delicious. The beef was flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The handmade tortillas were outstanding, the portions were generous, and the service was friendly even with how busy they were. One small suggestion would be to consider adding breakfast potatoes as an accompaniment. This would help round out the plate, especially when beans are limited or unavailable, and make the breakfast offering feel even more complete and satisfying. My boyfriend ordered the chile relleno plate, and while enjoyable, I think it could be elevated by serving the sauce underneath the chile to help preserve that beautiful fried texture. Queso Oaxaca would also be a great option for the filling. One small opportunity for improvement was communication when an item was unavailable. They had run out of beans during our visit, which is understandable given how busy they were and had heard some folks raving about the beans, but we weren't offered a substitute until we asked. A quick heads-up at the time of ordering would make an already good experience even better. I also had the opportunity to speak with Stephen Madrigal, one of the owners, regarding the restaurant's B rating and the walk-in refrigeration issue, which has since been repaired. On Whittier Blvd. I was looking for a good menudo and I trusted Yelp! And was well rewarded! It's street parking, so get there early or you may have to walk. Either way , the food is freshly prepared and delicious. Now I only had the menudo which was very flavorful and the homemade corn tortillas were over the top. Just from the tortillas, you Know it's All good. Service is fast and with a smile. Ambiance is what you expect from a neighborhood restaurant. The entertainment was an added bonus. I ended up at Tacos Virginia because another restaurant was sold out and they recommended this spot -- and I'm glad they did. The place is clean, the staff is super friendly, and the football game was on right away, which made for a great atmosphere. Service was fast, and nothing beats an ice-cold Coke in a glass bottle -- it hit the spot. My wife ordered the albóndigas soup and absolutely loved it. I went with the machaca breakfast plate that came with beans and rice. The highlight? Fresh, homemade tortillas served at the table -- you can taste the difference. Last week my wife, daughter and I were craving menudo from this place. We showed up little after 1pm and a Sunday. We got seated in the patio right away. When they took our order, we were told there was no more menudo! On a Sunday? Not sure if the ran out or what so we ordered chilaquiles and asada nachos. We waited for at least 25 minutes and no food. I got up to ask what was causing the delay and was told that it was being served so I waited another 10 minutes and no food. We finally decided to walk out. They were not courteous enough to tell us that there was only 1 cook. We got no chips and salsa, not a "it's coming right out", nothing. I can't believe we got such bad service. I love this place but I don't think I'll be coming back again. read more

They use to be good but one of the short ladies always stars at her customers before making the food. She did that to my girl before making the food and the order came out wrong. My sister and I ate lunch there today and it was scrumptious! I had the chicken taco plate and she had the beef taco and we shared a nopales salad. The beans were so good that we each got an order to take home. This place has fresh food cooked without the toxic seed oils and it's super tasty too! They do not overuse salt, which I like. Today I went to tacos Virginia for lunch I got all my food and I was eating enjoying it when I found a HAIR in my food! I called the server and she was like where I don't see it when she can see in face I was mid gag ready to throw up acting like I was lying about it. We decided to leave all our food and pay. When we were paying she was like I'm not gonna charge you for the plate like excuse me I would assume so there was a HAIR in it! I normally give it 5 's and food was excellent like always, but today was long wait coming to customer service. I totally understand very busy which you know the food is great. But it took good 15 minutes to take my order which again I understand it's busy. The part that bothered me after getting my food the waitress never came back to check if I needed anything or offered refill on my drink. This place is the place to get menudo. Came here on a sunday morning and we were seated fairly quickly out in the patio. The restaurant is just like walking into someone's home and the food reflected that. The menudo tasted so amazing and was super flavorful. The broth was not greasy and had a great oregano flavor. There is a slight kick but nothing too serious. The pansa was also very clean and not fatty at all. Overall you must come here to try the menudo AND you get handmade tortillas. read more

Wowee! This is a more than once kind of a spot. If you are looking for a real mom and pop experience, this is it. It's a small homey spot and it seamed like a neighborhood staple.
