Came here for dinner with my cousin and his family. The decor and ambiance looks pretty cool. I can see why people want to come here during the summer time as the outdoor patio is also quite dope. Unfortunately, while the service was quite good and fast, there were just a few technical mistakes and such that drop the rating of this place from a 4 to a 3. Here's the breakdown: 1) First, I'll start with this, the table-side guac was really really good. Also, the habanero salsa had a kick which I truly appreciated too. 2) The veggie molotes were also pretty solid too. 3) The cucumber jalapeño margarita was also pretty good. As well as the Elderflower margarita. Sadly, the coconut mojito was just way too sweet than it needed to be. My cousin had asked to reorder another mojito, but it was also too sweet as well. 4) My cousin asked to order just bean and cheese tacos for his daughter. Unfortunately, they also messed that one up so we had to also reorder. 5) I ordered the chimichangas, but made vegetarian. I think it was good, but the cheese sauce was just a bit too much and the portion size was far too huge with the beans and rice so I could barely finish. 6) Same issue with the Chile Rellenos my girl ordered. Just a lot of the cheese sauce. I think we were better off splitting one meal, but I call that a suburban rookie mistake. Would love to give this place 4 stars, but I need the mistakes to get cleaned up a little bit. read more

We had another great meal here on Friday. My wife has a wait allergy and there is a large selection of gluten friendly menu items for her that all taste incredible. The food comes out quick, hot, fresh, flavorful, and the portion sizes are perfect! Ramiro and his team really know what they are doing. This time we sat at the bar and Kate took great care of us. Now the most impressive part, their tequila selection is hands down the best in the state. PA is not known for having a wide selection of liquor choices since it's controlled by the state Tacos y Tequila is going out of their way to order things that are only listed on the state's special order list. Plenty of quality, additive free tequila's to pick from. Some great cocktails, and some incredible sippers. Highly recommend and we will be back, often! read more

We went up to Allentown for a concert and after basically being turned away from 2 half empty breweries and grabbing a drink at a sports bar with crappy service, Tacos Y Tequila was a welcome change. We walked in and sat down at the bar, chips and salsa appeared immediately and we knew we had made it to the right spot! The margaritas were delicious, prices were decent, and the service was quick! We ordered a combo and it hit the spot. We wished we had ordered so much more. The nachos next to us looked great. The manager was behind the bar and spent time chatting with all the customers. We went there on cinco de mayo today with reservations and we waited 25 minutes before being helped at the front desk and were told that the were no longer taking reservations. The hostess was very sweet, A friend and I were waiting to be seated we asked if we could just sit at the bar. But what looked to be the manager came over and was rude as she made the comment in front of us "we aren't taking anymore people, we are too busy" as the bar was completely empty beside maybe 4 people total sitting at the bar. Not sure how a restaurant who has an empty bar turns down 2 customers, if your staff can't handle a Friday night dinner rush maybe it's time to find better staff and ones with better hospitality. To also add the manager walked past two un busted tables, so as a manager she should be helping her staff flip tables in order to have a flow of customers coming and going. I placed an order for pick up because I was staying at an hotel across the street. I was greeted by a very nice lady when I arrived. I wished I had sat down to eat because I enjoyed the atmosphere. My food was ready sooner than expected. The food was delicious well seasoned and fresh. The Chicken Tortilla soup was amazing. Kate, the bt/server was fantastic. The atmosphere is pretty cool, too. They have a 10 seat bar, a pretty good selection of tequila, but NO premium top shelf stuff like Clas Azul or Forteleza. I ordered the Tacos de Carne Asada w/ flour tortillas. The bt was so helpful and genuinely friendly. Anyone who is knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly gets a 40% tip. I don't even care if they make a mistake - everybody does. The tacos de Carne Asado (tacos served with steak) were really good. One thing I hate about MOST Mexican restaurants is that they serve the cheap meat. I think this was 5 day old Flank Steak that was precooked then reheated. But the thing is with Mexican food is you just drown it with the best hot sauce ever, Pineapple Hot Sauce - DO NOT forget to ASK for it! It is the shiznit! The bathrooms are super clean! BIG plus! The staff really knows what they are doing. The ONLY negative i say is that the GM. Other than that...... This place is great! Make sure you get Kate as your bt/server. She is awesome! Rating 4 for the ambiance, but if we are just talking about the food, it would have been a 3. Outside sitting only at the moment. Live music when I came, the singer had a very nice voice that added to the ambiance. Service was great, very attentive staff and food came at a good time. As for the food, I have never in all the Mexican restaurants I have never gotten 9 pieces of circular chips with toppings on top. This dish was called nachos. We just had to laugh at that. Nice presentation, but really what in the world is that. As for the burrito, it was average. I can say, however, that I would come back here for drinks. The margarita was flavorful and just the perfect balance of sour and sweet. Do you want to go for drinks? I recommend this spot. We came here on a Sunday because there were no other restaurants open in Allentown Center City. It was empty, which should have been a red flag. We sat down and tried to order drinks. I tried three or four different cocktails but they were out of key ingredients to all of them. I finally tried to order a house margarita but was asked what flavor I wanted (flavors cost extra). I said that I didn't want an extra flavor, just the house recipe, and I was told that was lime flavored. So the house margarita is in fact also an incorrect listing on the menu. We got waters while we were waiting for our cocktails and the water tasted very strange. I don't know if it was the water, or the pipes, or the glass, but it smelled and tasted off. Our food arrived; I had ordered vegetarian enchiladas with mole sauce. The cheese inside the enchiladas had cooled to a solid and chewy texture, and the mole sauce was barely drizzled over the top. The mole itself tasted good, but I wished there was more of it/that the enchiladas were baked in the sauce. It's a shame-- this place looks cute, and the patio looks so pleasant when it is lit and there is live music. But the food is not great and the drinks are worse. There are two Tacos y Tequila, this one in Atown and one in Easton. You would think they'd be very similar if not identical but not so! I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of the Atwn location. Poor food selection, meaning very limited menu (2 pages) and I believe but could be wrong same for the drinks. The taste of the food was meh and was not impressive. However their sister restaurant in Easton was 5 star all the way. The menu selection was at least 6 pages front and back if not more. The food was outstanding and pricing phenomenal at Easton location. The Easton location is one of consistent go to's on a regular basis. I would not recommend this location when their other location is so much better. read more

Wow, worst dining experience in more than 10 years. Made a 5:45 reservation before a 7:30 concert for my wife's birthday, and we arrived a few minutes before our scheduled time. Place was relatively empty at the time, so seated pretty quickly. Despite being fairly empty, it took about 15 minutes for a waiter to come over (but we got served water and chips so that wasn't a big deal). We ordered at 6:05, and each of the first two beers I asked for off the regular menu were met with "we don't have that", so I ended up with a third (figured the third time is the charm). I can deal with this, no big deal. I order the California Fish Tacos, which they are also out of, and my spouse orders something else. So I take a few minutes to just order some mixed Enchilada combo -- again it's MAYBE 6:10 at this point, so all good. . I type this at 7:05, almost an hour later and we still have chips and now our empty drink glasses on the table. Asked to speak with the manager who got us a quick appetizer from the kitchen to split that came at 7:10. We scarfed that down and left for the show at 7:20. Sadly, the food looked really good on the menu and the chips and the app were both above average as was my wife's cocktail. So much for a casual pre-concert birthday meal. The one reason that this review got 3 stars was because our waiter Jason, was kind, friendly and doing all he could to accommodate us considering he was doing literally EVERYTHING!!! Beautiful restaurant/bar with great atmosphere. Chicken tortilla soup has homemade taste but ingredients haven't been cooked long enough. Also didn't taste like chicken tortilla soup as I knew chicken tortilla soup to taste after living in CA for 26 years where I had chicken tortilla soup many times. Shrimp taco was just shrimp inside tortilla. Why not put other ingredients in there like red onions, cole slaw, fire-roasted corn, to make it taste interesting and enjoyable? First impressions are everything and when we walked in the place, there was no one to be found to seat us. Finally someone came to take care us and we got a big table in their nice outdoor seating area. We got menus right away, but ordering and then actually getting our food and drinks that was a different story. Lo and behold our guac, 30 minutes later, not the prettiest presentation but we were starved and went to town but still no drinks. Our drinks came out 10 minutes later, nothing crazy, just a couple of regular old margs. Finally our food came out, everything was actually really good. I got a make your own bowl, which I loved. It's just so unfortunate how long it took for everything to come out and how poorly the staff managed making sure we were doing okay.
