Griddle 145 was widely regarded as one of the Lehigh Valley's best brunch spots. They closed in December and reopened in January 2026 with a new dinner-only concept: The Broken Record, with plans to add lunch and brunch down the road. The vibe lands somewhere between The Shelby (Allentown) and Orchid (Bethlehem)--modern, dark, and chic, with an open layout and subtle nods to a recording-studio aesthetic. It's a polished space that clearly had thought put into it. Jerry, the GM, is warm and welcoming, and even during a soft opening the operation felt well-staffed and energetic. While some team members are still finding their rhythm, there's a solid core of seasoned staff who keep things moving smoothly. The bar is clean, new, and comfortable, with plush seating and cleverly tucked-away TVs--present enough to catch the score, discreet enough to keep the focus on conversation. We opted for small plates from the elevated pub menu (stone-oven pizzas, tacos, salads, sandwiches). While I plan to return and explore more of the menu, this first round was, unfortunately, underwhelming. Zucchini Fries - A familiar dish, but fried perfectly and arguably the highlight of the evening. Tempura Cauliflower - Fun idea, but overly breaded, bite-sized nuggets paired with an "aioli" that leaned more toward tinted mayo. Ahi Tuna Tostada - Fresh and clean, though awkward to eat and missing a bit of cohesion. Skirt Steak Frites - Poutine-adjacent in concept, but ordered medium and arrived well-done and quite gristly. Heavy butter application didn't help. Mushroom Risotto - More mashed-potato texture than risotto. Pleasant flavor, but not true to form. That said, I'm still rooting for this place. As a fan of their Blanche de Bruxelles wit served in a frosted glass, I'll be back to spin the menu again--hoping to add The Broken Record to my regular rotation... or confirm that it's still skipping. read more

This place is a hidden gem in the heart of Trexlertown! I started with the mushroom risotto and it was incredible. Moist, heavy creamy risotto with fresh wild mushrooms and parmesan cheese. Add some protein and this could be a full meal! I then ordered a house sandwich. Portobello mushroom, roasted red pepper, a pesto aioli on a crusty ciabatta bread. It's crusty, flavorful, and perfect if you are looking for something lighter on a hot day! The dish came with chips, or you could do a salad or potato. The chips were seasoned and while I never figured out what they were, they added the perfect flavor to a sandwich. Everything in the restaurant was aesthetically perfect - all the way down to the drinks themselves. The waitress was attentive without overbearing and made sure we had what we wanted without the constant interruptions. Shame on him however she came back and asked for the menus and never asked if I wanted to order anything. Never came back to refill my drinks or anything. We went for the second time and it continues to be very good. They make some interesting drinks and have many menu items that are very good. We had mushroom risotto with shrimp added, fried zucchini ( a bit overdone) and a mushroom pizza. In fact we took another pizza home - so good. The overall markup was way over priced for the atmosphere and quality of food/ drinks/ atmosphere (were they playing 99.9 The Hawk radio?). If the menu had items that weren't cheaper/ already available in the area maybe 3 stars, but overall I got Big Woody's vibes which I'd rather go to for slow service and mediocre food. But if you're looking for any kind of rock 'n' roll vibe, you won't find it here. It's all about Soft music. Bright lights. Bougie table and bar settings. Here's what else you won't find; -- "Bar food" level drink prices. ($16 for Manhattan, $14 for Playmate's glass of Cabernet.) -- An extensive menu. (Apps, small plates and some sandwiches -- that's it). What you will find is reasonable food prices ($15-20, tops), good food (I had a burger, Playmate had the rock n roll peel n eat shrimp WITH melted butter -- yeah, YUMM!), and reasonably attentive service (Riley was pleasant enough but made no effort to adjust our check for the fact that I ordered a Stout and the tap gave her a cream ale ... with no stout anywhere to be found. Where to start the ambience and music is on point, had to try to keep myself in my seat and not stand up singing to all the great music. The drinks are also great huge fan of the vanilla old fashion i say its a must try. The apps were all amazing and the pizza has a wonderful crisp to it and great flavor. My absolute favorite sandwiches are the drunken chicken and blackened chicken and of course you have to get the parmesan fries that are probably one of the best fries i have ever had. The servers that i have had so far have all been great as well never left my drink empty and food came out in all good timing. We were really excited to come to this new spot since not many new places open around here. From start to finish the whole experience could've been better which was really disappointing. We waited in the parking lot for 20 minutes, waiting for another car to pull out in order for us to park. It was a nightmare and for that reason only I wouldn't go back. People actually pulled up to our car and told us they were leaving because there is no parking and it isn't worth it. Secondly, we had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes to be seated. The place is so packed and overcrowded, it is a bar scene not a restaurant. We had to scream to hear the person a foot away from us. The waitress was so sweet but so so young and clearly overwhelmed. It took 20 minutes just to get ketchup. The food was pretty good but kind of unenjoyable due to the rest of the experience. With a bigger place and more parking this restaurant could be a hit but unfortunately they serve beyond their means with what they have. read more
