I decided to try this place although the reviews said stay away. The place was clean, food was fast. I ordered the beef fajita tacos, they were a bit salty but overall ok. The charro beans were excellent, the rice was ok. In my opinion a bit overpriced and no real dinner options. Coming from Southern Cali, found the meat for my asada plate to have zero flavor. The grilled onions, that came with the plate, was greasy as if sitting in a tub, and in my opinion wasn't grilled at all. The salsa bar looked fresh and clean, the chopped white onions, sliced cucumbers, and diced cucumbers were very fresh. The assorted salsas were pretty standard and the pico de gallo was pretty fresh, but looked like it may have been out a bit long as the diced tomatoes were starting to get soft. When looking online at the menu pictures, I found that the serving of carne asada was generous versus what is actually served. On 5/7 I visited the El Paso Joe Battle location around 7:30 pm. I ordered a 4 person platter totally around $42. I was told to park and wait for my order. After 45 minutes I went back to the drive thru and they completely forgot my order. I told them to cancel my order and refund my money. I was told by the cashier that the order was void and my refund would go through. 4 months later that hasn't happened. I contacted my bank and they can't do anything. How do I get my money back? I'm very disappointed the manager on duty did not talk to me and apologize/make it right. Just a void receipt and forget the 45 minutes of my life I wasted waiting for some food. This place used to be clean and comfortable to eat. I ordered my usual, TacoTote pack with bistek (chopped) and charro beans. The bistek wasn't chopped and the charro beans were watered down. The place needed to be swept and mopped. Hard to find a clean table even though the place was practically empty...now I know why. We love Taco Tote! We often have Taco Tote for a quick lunch or dinner and always order the barbacoa as a double order because our kids love it. Today we tried the Joe Battle location as we were on that side of town. We ordered curbside. Extremely happy with sides and salsa bar choices, but the barbacoa was awful. We thought it had onion in it when opening because it was full of fat. It had so many chunks of fat in it we ended up tossing it. Some were large and others were small. Too much to try to pick out. The barbacoa was slimy and my kids refused to eat it. Super disappointing! We love the other locations and should maybe stick there for barbacoa. This was surprising and disappointing all in one. Got the pork adobe family platter for 4, with charro beans, rice, refried beans, and a baked potato. The meat was tender, well seasoned, and delicious. It wasn't greasy, and all the sides along with it was hot and fresh. We got a mix of both corn and flour tortillas. They were homemade and amazing. They have an awesome salsa bar as well. Decide on Mexican so we tried this place out. The building is huge. When you go in you will find a cafeteria style layout. They have a straight forward menu. One thing we found is they won't do substitutes or do anything that deviate from their menu. I've become accustomed to Mexican restaurant being flexible with their menu. The employees were pretty good. There was much interaction. After you order your food it pretty much stops there. Everything else is self service. While you wait for your food you can pick up some chips from the counter. There is a salad bar type area that contains a variety of salsa and other fixings like lettuce and chopped onion. They had some great pico de gallo. The carne asada was great. It was seasoned well and tested really good. I topped it off with a bunch of fixings from the salad bar area. This was a good place. I'm really disappointed in writing this review. Growing up in El Paso, I used to love going to the Taco Tote on Montana, I remember how authentic the food tasted and I used to love ordering the sirloin quesadillas. After 6 years of being away, I couldn't wait to have Taco Tote again and I wanted my husband to finally be able to see what all the hype was about. Man how things have changed. I don't know if it's because Taco Tote has become more popular but the flavor is gone. It's now just become a pricier version of Taco Cabana. The meat is super greasy and the tortillas taste old. My husband had to trim the fat off some of the meat because it was chewy. I liked it better when it wasn't as commercial as it is today. A co-worker recommended this place describing it as unique and authentic. From the outside it looks like a fast food place complete with a drive through however when you go inside it is quite spacious and looks more like a cafeteria. It was clean and orderly inside. I am a big fan of fish tacos but they did not have them here. I ended up ordering 2 shrimp tacos on corn tortillas since it was the only seafood taco option available. They had a salsa bar with different types for dipping tortilla chips if you ordered them and an open fountain drink area where you could help your self to whatever drink they offered. The shrimp tacos were just ok for me. It tasted like some cooked shrimp with a little cilantro in in a corn tortilla. Nothing unique or memorable about it. There menu looked pretty good especially the size of the meal. We ordered food which just so you know, when you walk in you must go to the counter and order. I to be honest was a bit disappointed due to the quantity and size of the meal. Tacos where extremely small and the charro beans where made from can which where not good. I was not satisfied with my meal. The kids meal was alright and my wife ordered a shrimp burrito that only had like 5 shrimps (not exaggerating) and the cashier told us it was the size of a Rafas burrito (it was not).. Tons of toppings and salsas to choose from. What I love about this location is the efficiency of the staff. Serving up some of the best tacos in the bordertown is El Taco Tote! Originating in Cuidad Juarez, the restaurant has now expanded to five states and it has not lost its way or its solid recipes! This location (as with most of them) is spacious with plenty of seating, is great for groups, is constantly cleaned by staff, and has their taco bar serviced. Serving up authentic Mexican food full of delicious flavor! Their beef, barbocoa, chicken, and vegetarian tacos are all awesome! I questioned the side dish of the potato but I was proved wrong. I shouldn't have questioned such a wonderful thing as they offer delicious potatoes! Let's start with something good: the service was nice considering it is self-serving. The portions are really small considering the price. The salsas are disappointing even though there are plenty of choices. Also the chips were really greasy, cold and stale. It's a big box of chips sitting there untouched for most of the day. While they may fill it from the top, of course you get the ones from the bottom. The Chicken Adoba was good but again, very little for the price. We would have expected at least 50% more. Also the sides were disappointing. Not even the refried beans were really good and I don't even know how that happens... all in all this was really disappointing and is just not worth your money unfortunately. read more

The only reason I am giving the Taco Tote on Edgemere one star is that the system will not allow me to go forward, after over 10 years going to the Taco Tote on Zaragoza we stopped by the Edgemere and 375 location and had the worst experience ever. Jasmin the cashier was just plain RUDE! The fountain drink machine was out of about two flavors and asked if they were going to add and was as just ignored. Everyone else were very busy digging into the box of Christmas decorations. Been here a lot since it's close by but today was the worst ever. The cashier was rude and the serving size was minimal. You think that if you pay twelve bucks for tripitas you would get a better serving than this. The cashier said how do you want them regular or crispy. Got a gift card and decided to eat at the basset location. Was told they do not accept gift cards and even though the back of the card said to hand to a cashier, the manager told me to order online. The online option doesn't allow you to redeem gift cards and the app doesn't have any El Paso locations. I'm calling the store to complain and the phones don't even work. I reached out to y'all on Facebook , Instagram and Twitter and no response yet. I had to resort to scheduling a cater to even reach you. I just want a refund on this card at this point.
