We were in town for a few days to visit family for the holidays and couldn't believe how early many places close on Sunday night! Unfortunately the place we really wanted to eat at closes early on Sundays. So we hesitantly decided to go to Carlos & Mickey's since it was open. My boyfriend said the margarita was good but the food was very subpar. We added the free salsa that came with tostadas to the guacamole. It needed something to give it a decent taste. Then my flautas were not very good. I asked for more salsa so they brought me a different version. The salsa made the flautas somewhat more palatable. My boyfriend had a combo plate and ate it since he was hungry but didn't say he really liked anything on it. I say this to those from out of town esp when visiting for events like the Sun Bowl, there are other restaurants that serve fantastic Mexican food in El Paso. You truly should consider those! read more

We had a large party and forgot to make a reservation or at least call in advance to see if we could be all seated together, but after a short wait, the staff was able to seat us. They immediately brought out some salsa and chips. Now I can eat that salsa like it was some soup. It was so delicious and slightly spicy. But you can tell it was homemade and not store bought thankfully. We also ordered large pomegranate margaritas which were very tasty. We were also told if we could not finish them, we could take them to go, which was a plus. Since it was a very large party, everybody ordered various items. I ended up ordering their fish tacos which were just "ok." In my opinion, the fried fish helping was too small in comparison to the tortilla and it wasn't seasoned. I more than likely would not order this dish again. But the restaurant itself along with the staff were great and very accommodating. It was very packed and they also had live music. This place was hard not to like when you walked in. We were sested quickly and our waitress was quick to get our drinks. I ordered the fish tacos and should have picked something else. The fish was bland and without the spicy sauce I would have felt like I was chewing air. I didn't even eat my last taco. Thankfully it wasn't super expensive. Service and setting good. My food, not good, would go back to try something else but would not recommend the fish tacos. read more

This historic restaurant has what many are looking for as it is always packed. The food is good and personally I think the salsa is lacking the spice to it. So I give it 4 out of 5 stars. There is a lot of history here as soon as you walk in. There are photos of some famous or respected people who have dined here before. I'll take some pictures next time I'm here. Hubby and I went for a slightly-early anniversary date. Yes, I know this place isn't cheap, but it was a celebration. They sat us quickly in a booth that felt very comfortable and private. We ordered the chili con queso, which was delicious after I added some of the salsa to it. He had the shrimp, chicken and steak mixed fajitas and was in heaven. I went crazy and had the giant margarita, which I didn't even quite manage to finish. We really splurged and had the sopapillas for dessert, which were soft pillows of deliciousness The service was impeccable - stopping by often enough without feeling like they're rushing you. When my husband asked for a little more sweet & low for his iced tea, they didn't skimp and bring 2 or 3 packets like most places, but a whole handful, in a little bowl. Hell, even I can't mess those up...surprise they can. They don't have asada but they do have shredded beef...now I've eaten pig and cow most of my life and I'm 98% sure their beef is actually pork . The 2% is because I didn't actually see the animal so I can't be 100% sure. The plate came out so hot they wear oven mits . Can you say "they put day old food straight in the oven, plate and all?" It's tacos for darn sake. Why it the plate hot? The tacos came out part hard(maybe stale)and part soggy. Soggy most likely from the grease of the pork? Came here for lunch today with my girlfriend after being referred by my boy Raul and everything was amazing. Nara was our waitress and she went above and beyond in every way, she was extremely friendly attentive and courteous and easily made today one of the best dine in experiences for me to date. Outside of that the food and the drinks (the strawberry mango margarita and the Paloma in particular) were bomb. Went on a Friday evening. Our wait time for the food wasn't too long but the wait time for a table was about 37 min, I think they're short-staffed. Anyways, I ordered the fish tacos which I didn't get a picture of since I was starving and my wife got the tortilla soup, she said it was pretty tasty, I'd rank my tacos 7.5/10 only because I'd rather them be made with soft tortilla, either corn or flour, but instead they fry a corn tortilla until making it hard, but still, they were tasty and came with beans with cheese and rice. Will be going again in the future since my wife saw those huge margaritas and wanted one but she's pregnant now. By the way, the drink in the picture is a non-alcoholic mango daiquiri. read more

Soon as we walking in i felt the ambience/vibes were vibin. I look at Cristina from across the table and think to myself "i would like to vibe w her forever; I hope the food pleases her". The chips and salsa to start were on point in both of our opinions. She came for tortilla soup which she had been craving but was too lazy to make herself. I ordered the Jalisco plate which came with a little bit of everything cause I am very indecisive. Cristina's came out first because the server misunderstood my order but I'll take blame for that. She tried it and then had me try it right after. The warmth, flavor, and consistency of the tortilla w the cheese was everything I wanted to experience when i tried it.. but of course Cristina hit me with her famous and always accurate line, "it's mids, i could make it better." Now don't take this as me saying you'll find tortilla soup better anywhere else. I want to make it clear when I say Cristina's cooking is exclusive to ME. So good luck! Delicious gorditas with ground beef and fresh vegetables. The restaurant is also very large and they have both indoor and outdoor seating.

All I can say is 'the best' in any airport restaurant I have been in. The food excellent, the service excellent...ambiance excellent. My flight was delayed 3 hours and Autumn, waitress, was just terrific in getting my 'to go' pulled together so it would get thru security. The food absolutely delicious. I was stranded in the airport. I was sad. This airport is so tiny with so little to offer. What was I to do to pass the time until my (very delayed) flight? I guess I'll eat something. And if that somrthing wasn't going to be izza hut or Starbucks, it would be this. Luckily, the food here turned out to be pretty decent! I had some fish tacos that were hard and dry so I called and asked if I could get a replacement plate & the manager was so sweet and apologetic about it! But everything me and my partner ordered was sooooo dry and lacked bold flavors. We also got a gallon of margaritas to go and they were so overly sweet it made both of us sick after having two glasses. Coming from a tequila lover... we ended up pouring out the entire gallon which kind of broke my heart lol. So the service was amazing and I'm sure there are great dishes on the menu but the things we ordered ended up in the trash I wish I could try again but I live in Houston so it's not likely. read more
