    Tacos al pastor chicken

This historic restaurant has what many are looking for as it is always packed. The food is good and personally I think the salsa is lacking the spice to it. So I give it 4 out of 5 stars. There is a lot of history here as soon as you walk in. There are photos of some famous or respected people who have dined here before. I'll take some pictures next time I'm here. They have a bar with your favorite drinks, alcohol and non-alcoholic.

Back to Carlos & Mickey for their lunch special. A breaded Milanese chicken with rice and beans. Mama Mia quel savor! The service from Bernardino was welcoming and attentive. The ambiance is always back to the 60s Mexican Paradiso with so much memorabilia. It is a colorful bright and comfortable historical journey back to the days of Pancho Villa! Love this place!

Great place with wonderful ambience. Makes you feel like you are in Mexico. The pina colada is delicious. There are a lot of vegetarian options in this place. The guacamole didn't disappoint us either ! The food is really filling and piping hot. Could be a great place to meet with large group of friends.

Carlos & Mickey's is an El Paso landmark. It's located near Fort Bliss and definitely is military friendly. Delicious food, incredible drinks, excellent service, beautiful atmosphere, and room for special occasions. Serving El Paso since 1944.

Hubby and I went for a slightly-early anniversary date. Yes, I know this place isn't cheap, but it was a celebration. They sat us quickly in a booth that felt very comfortable and private. We ordered the chili con queso, which was delicious after I added some of the salsa to it. He had the shrimp, chicken and steak mixed fajitas and was in heaven. I went crazy and had the giant margarita, which I didn't even quite manage to finish. We really splurged and had the sopapillas for dessert, which were soft pillows of deliciousness The service was impeccable - stopping by often enough without feeling like they're rushing you. When my husband asked for a little more sweet & low for his iced tea, they didn't skimp and bring 2 or 3 packets like most places, but a whole handful, in a little bowl. This place is pricey, but the ambiance and service made it worthwhile for a celebratory meal.

Airport food is normally over priced and not tasty. However, Carlos & Mickey at the ELP Airport Caldo de Res was the best thus far.

Love the food, it was fresh, the chicken delish and it was filling. The rice and beans were fresh!!! The service was great with Nacho and Juan the bartenders and the place has character. Go enjoy

Came here for lunch today with my girlfriend after being referred by my boy Raul and everything was amazing. Nara was our waitress and she went above and beyond in every way, she was extremely friendly attentive and courteous and easily made today one of the best dine in experiences for me to date. Outside of that the food and the drinks (the strawberry mango margarita and the Paloma in particular) were bomb. I highly recommend people come to this restaurant and enjoy the experience firsthand for themselves. If I could give them more stars I would

The debacle and reminder of our night. They ripped us off.

I had just flown in from the airport, and my brother arranged it as a special family gathering. Everything started normally: we were seated, ordered our food, received our drinks, and enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa. Then my sister (who is LGBTQ+) stepped away to use the restroom. When she returned and sat down, a manager approached our table and loudly told her--in front of other diners--that "MEN cannot use the female restroom." My sister was mortified and humiliated by the public confrontation. The manager's tone and assumption were shocking and clearly discriminatory. We immediately got up and left without eating. This wasn't about enforcing any legitimate policy; it was rude, insensitive, and targeted. My adult sister is perfectly capable of reading the restroom signs herself--no one needed to police or shame her in such a way. The incident felt rooted in homophobia and transphobia from management. We will never return to this place, and we will actively discourage others--especially LGBTQ+ individuals and allies--from patronizing it. What should have been a joyful family milestone was ruined by bigotry. Avoid this establishment if you value respect and inclusivity.

Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

Looking back, El Cometa is what started my taco obsession. Their tacos al pastor con queso are so good. The marinated pork is perfectly seasoned, a little greasy in the best way, and topped with melted cheese. One thing I love is their salsa bar. I always grab the red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole. I pile all three on my tacos, and every bite is amazing. Their tacos remind me of my favorite tacos at the resort my family visited every summer in Cancún. Even though it has been years since I have been there, El Cometa brings those memories back with every bite. The staff is incredible. Last summer, the hostess recognized me right away and seated me immediately. She even remembered my order. I order the exact same thing every visit: tacos and two cans of Sprite. The fact that she has been there since I first started coming in 2019 makes every visit feel like coming home. From 2019 until I moved away in 2022, I went there almost every week. To eat here, everyone lines up at the cashier to place an order, but somehow I always felt like royalty. The staff knew me, and every visit felt welcoming. El Cometa never disappoints.
