HOLY TACOS. We had literally been trying to go to this place for years with our friends who told us about its magical-ness but were never there when they were open but it finally happened!! Their food was so incredibly fresh and full of flavor I wished I had a bigger stomach so I could have had 6 tacos instead of only a measly 3. The tacos at TacoVino taste exactly what I'd expect tacos to taste like from a Wine Bar/Taco restaurant in Corvallis, Oregon to taste like... In my opinion, the tortilla shouldn't detract from the overall taste of the taco. It should either add flavor or stay neutral. In the case of TacoVino, the tortillas were so bland that it actually took away from the flavor of the ingredients inside the taco. It's almost remarkable how bad the tortillas were. I found the carne asada tough -- strips of carne asada should be tender so that I can chew through it and not pull the whole strip out when I try to take a bite of my taco. Finally, it's kind of pricey for mediocre tacos. There are plenty of hidden gems in Oregon for great tacos, and, unfortunately, TacoVino is not one of them. "Service was not on Flick" I was really excited about this new restaurant that opened up in Corvallis but honestly it wasn't anything special besides the DIY Guacamole! We waited for 30 minutes for a table when there was three tables that were opened but had dirty dishes on them and needed to be bused. Once we got seated we ordered right away because we didn't want him to leave!! So we ordered the DIY Guacamole that was AMAZING, especially with that peanut sauce but it took them 30 minutes to bring it out to the table.... then I got the fish taco and the spicy squid taco. The spicy squid was interesting but it I felt like it was missing something. I think it really needed some avocado and sour cream to balance the heat from the verde sauce. The fish taco was HORRIBLE. DO NOT GET THIS TACO! As a pescatarian I have few options and this taco really disappointed me. The fish was completely over cooked. It was like cardboard which really suck. Also, the lack of a creamy, cilantroy, lime sour cream easily could have saved this taco. Honestly wouldn't advice going to this place again for lunch unless you are prepare to have it be a 3 hour excursion! read more

Very unique restaurant for Corvallis! That building has always provided a unique dining experience but the restaurants have always been "meh". I had the curry chicken and fish taco. I've been going to this restaurant for awhile and I was very disappointed with the last visit. The DIY guacomole keeps going up in price and we thought the salsa came with it, which it does not so had to pay extra for salsa. We ran out of chips and the waitress asked if we would like more and we said yes and then she proceeded to help more tables and we waited and waited and finally someone brought the chips. A wait time of 40+ mins once ordered? Why 40+ minutes when there were so few tables? 20 mins to receive chips n salsa. Not enough tables and on and on. Friendly server isn't enough bother with a return trip. Tacovore? I'll see you next week and drive past TacoVino. Update - Flavors themselves were so-so. Service and chef were very friendly. Hate based message sent by either friends or family of founders are very inappropriate and do not warm heart or interest in returning. We ordered a variety of tacos, a bunch of carnitas tacos which were drenched in oil that we could not even enjoy it with all the grease dripping from the soggy tortilla, we also ordered a bunch of the korean bbq tacos and truly, I have never tasted something so foul. I can only compare the taste of the korean bbq tacos to what manure smells like. It is overpriced, poor quality, and an odd mix of flavors. Nothing traditional. $20 for a small jar of margarita. I can't recommend it enough! Great food! Definitely get the DIY guacamole, it's huge (enough for six people) and delicious! The sangria is a gift from the heavens. My favorite tacos are the Carnitas and the Curry Chicken. If you like spicy, ask for a side of the spicy peanut sauce and put that on everything. So good. The atmosphere is really fun, the owners did a great job creating the space. The staff is all really friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend eating here! The food is always delicious and tastes so fresh. I particularly love their salads, but the tacos are all fantastic. I was informed by our waitress that the food is organic and I actually think fairly healthy all considered. I will say I have had several waitresses attempt to "upsell me", meaning they ask if you'd like something added but make it sound like it just comes with the meal. I wonder if they are pressured to do that by their management to make extra. With that being said, the staff is still generally very nice. I'm really not sure where to start with this review for TacoVino. I love this place. Everything about it; the food, the decor, the people.... the mescal. TacoVinos tacos are innovative masterpieces. The combination of flavors dance from the sublime to explosions all in one bite. They pull flavors from across multiple cuisines to create a menu that is inspiring. Their "specials" are always wild and fun. TacoVino is my favorite restaurant in Corvallis. Nobody in Corvallis is creating food like they do here... we are very lucky. This place was fantastic! The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing! The Nacos with bacon was delicious and very flavorful...it was devoured in minutes with my family. The animal style taco and Korean taco was savory and packed with protein. Would recommend those two hands down! The kids meals were very creative. They were on backs of books. I loved everything about this place. We had to wait at 2pm on a Wednesday but it was worth it. The staff was friendly. They don't wear name tags or uniforms and I liked that. It's casual. It's relaxed. Order the guacamole for sure. They don't add tomatoes or weird stuff. The chicken curry taco will blow your mind. The mushroom taco is divine. At the chef's suggestion I tried the tempeh tacos (not my usual deal but hey, chef's choice!), and I couldn't believe how good they were. My husband and I also loved the barbacoa taco. Tonight when I went back and ate those chips and salsa....I would come here just to eat these. I am seriously picky after growing up in the southwest, and really--this is some of the best salsa I've ever had. I had been very reluctant to try Taco Vino as I grew up in New England when Mexican food was nowhere! I never developed a taste for hot, spicy food. I was pleasantly surprised with the recommendation of our pleasant server! I found the fish taco delicious, but a little clumsy to eat; I used the fork to cut away and eat some of the fish filet before picking it up to eat as one usually eats a taco. I especially enjoyed the vegetarian taco, which was slightly sweet with crunchy veggies. Obviously, they have an interesting wine list, but as a beer drinker, I found more than a few I could choose from and be happy about my choice. We had two rambunctious young boys with us who enjoyed their reasonably priced cheese quesadillas and there were many other children and families present. The atmosphere is a bit chaotic and loud, but has a celebratory mood about it. There was not one open table. My hubby kindly got in line at 5:00 pm, 1/2 an hour before seating time to insure we got a table. The line was still forming as we left. This is a unique restaurant in Corvallis with a wonderful vibe. It is casual enough to bring my children yet also has a warm atmosphere to sit and have a sangria and taco later at night. I have tried most of their tacos; I have yet to try the entrees. The taco menu is very diverse, non-traditional and affordable. You can't miss ordering their vegetarian tacos - they are especially good! My favorites were the Delicata Squash taco and the Hongos (mushroom) taco. Did I mention the sangria?!
