Found this restaurant while walking back to our hotel from the convention center, it was a very pleasant experience. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was a good size portion and flavorful. I ordered the chicken club sandwich with fries and my husband ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, toast, and a side salad. They also have an early bird special breakfast that we plan to check out soon.

Get the market price ribeye plate. medium rare! just perfect and juicy and the fat of the meat is so tasty, with just the right amount of oil (natural oil from the fat) mixed in with their house seasoning. i loved this. it's market price so it can vary. it's good. I ordered this and it was $10 more than the "famous tad's steak" which is the house steak and I thought it was worth it! Also ate some of the "famous tad's steak" and the ribeye was more premium. I miss the good ol days when Tad's was in the last spot on Powell Street and it was so old fashioned and I had lovely memories there with my parents. This new spot has been a few years now and much more modern. plenty of seating. very clean. Service was kind and efficient. check out the pie case if you want dessert

After a lot of walking during the Super Bowl shenanigans in SF, decided to have some good old Tad's steak. Didn't know they moved to a bigger place. Can fit a lot more than before that's for sure. They also have a bar area in the middle. You order first & then find a seat. I still remember when the meal only cost $13.95 for a good sized steak. Now it's about $30, which is still not bad!

Good, almost great! Dined as a party of four recently, but after the lunch hour and the dining room was relatively quiet. I like this new (to me) location - it's brighter and appears more spacious but I do think they cram in too many chairs for the tables so we had to do some rearranging to sit at our 4 top. The food is as good as ever and at reasonable prices for the portions served. The service is what keeps this review at just good rather than great. I was charged for an item I didn't order (a glass of milk?) and they forgot to give me my salad so I had to go after it. Nice and friendly staff, but not as attentive as expected. I would still recommend if you are around Union Square area looking for a solid meal. They do have something for everyone and the space is suited to accommodate large parties. Just watch your receipts.

Tad's Steakhouse is a true San Francisco classic. It's not your typical steakhouse, You order at the counter, grab a table, and they bring the food out. The steaks I have had are always really well prepared and the salads fresh, and the consistency never disappoints. There's usually plenty of seating, and the staff keeps things moving and clean, which makes for an easy, enjoyable meal, with reasonable prices. Tad's is one of those timeless spots that captures a bit of old San Francisco's

Me and my husbands go to spot for years in the city! Ordering is quick walk up and get give you a number. New location has a full bar (didn't order a drink tho), very upscale. Hamburger steak is a forever go to Subbed out my house salad for extra toast! Goooooo menu is too fire to not cross the bridge for a lil steak!

I love the character of this place, super casual. But don't let that trick you. The food is amazing. My steak was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back

No wait during the lunch hour! Counter service only as well. I ordered the steak and eggs, which did not disappoint! The steak was tender and juicy. They do charge a 50 cent surcharge on eggs at the moment, which I'm not sure if it is necessary anymore since egg prices have come back down to earth. Tad's has a full bar with reasonably priced cocktails. I will definitely need to come back and try. Overall, the restaurant was clean and service was friendly. Checks all my boxes! Yummy Certified!

Pretty solid steak plate for the price. Not a fan of standing in line for as long as I had to, but the food was good. Garlic bread was good, mashed taters were good, steak was cooked properly and the garlic compound butter kicked the steak up a notch. Salad was decent; blue cheese dressing needs to be chunkier.

Great service and clean new look with the new makeover for Tads makes me smile. The increased pricing unfortunately does not. While I expected that the prices would go up with inflation, at $32 plus tip for their famous steak dinner, this is no longer the bargain steak joint I grew up with. The steak itself was well cooked and It's still more affordable compared to the high end steakhouses so I'm not faulting them for the increase, it just makes me have to double guess myself on coming here often. I still have a lot of love for Tads and their legacy in San Francisco, and I hope they ultimately succeed.

We were greeted immediately and shown to the table I had requested (I requested a booth). At many restaurants, reinstated like the are ignored so this was really nice. I also was impressed that they didn't pull the "everyone must be present before you're seated" bs that I really dislike. They seated us and our 4th joined us soon after we ordered drinks. Props! It was a nice big booth with plenty of room for our party of 4. Low lighting and classy dining room. Food was delicious. We chose the lamb. Also lots of inventive cocktails. I chose The Bentley. We were given menus. Then we waited 15 minutes and were never approached for a drink. Oh well,,, hostess came and founds up and took us to our table. Said table was VERY small and shoved into a very small corner in back of a smallish but VERY loud room. Server took at least 10 minutes to greet our table and take a drink order. Drinks were fine but nothing to write home about. Ordered deviled eggs for an appetizer. Smoked paprika flavor was overwhelming and we left 4 of the six eggs uneaten. Dinner guest ordered Flat iron steak and fries. Said it was ok "Like a steak at Chili's". He left half his steak and didn't want a box to take the leftover. Also ordered the Mac-n-cheese side and said it was bland and had a mushy texture. I ordered the Black Cod. It was under seasoned and bland. Server was fine and I mean that in the most average and forgettable way. While I understand the restaurant was busy and they can't help noise levels or where we were sat (someone has to sit in that table, right?), I'm most disappointed in the things they could have controlled. Timely, friendly service and well seasoned quality food should be the cornerstones of any good restaurants and Wayfare Tavern displayed neither last night. One other rule I need to remember to live by. ALWAYS check yelp reviews vs. OpenTable. OT consistently has EXTREMELY high reviews that don't always "add up". Wayfare Tavern, for example is a 4.7 stars in over 8,300 reviews, while it only receives 3.9 stars in Yelp with over 4,000 people reviewing it on this platform. Just my opinion but for context I eat out for work 3-4x a weeks all over the country and Wayfare did not come close to a 4.7 star or even a 3.9 star experience.

The food took a little while to come out, but the restaurant was packed, so that was totally fine. And, the food was worth the wait. I ordered the Slow Braised Carnitas. The meat was tender, moist, and perfectly flavored. They didn't skimp out, either. That was a FULL plate. The handmade tortillas were delicious. The rest of the table was very happy with their food. We ordered desserts since we were celebrating a birthday. The wait staff came by to sing happy birthday to my mother-in-law. We ordered churros, tres leches cake, and the fresas con crema. A charming little bistro inspired by the Marlowe cows, I'm assuming, managed to stun us with several memorable dishes. The warm deviled eggs were an excellent start. Savory yet delicate enough to not weigh us down right at the beginning of our meal. The horseradish aioli wasn't for me, but I can see its appeal for a certain audience. You give me a Calabrian chili sauce and it's guaranteed to make me happy and this shrimp with sweet corn was no exception. Again, light but a punchy flavor that was enjoyable. I could go on and on about the different dishes we tried but the real standout of the night was the pork tenderloin with chorizo and peaches. The sweetness from the peaches somehow managed to enhance the flavor of the chorizo. This dish gives you a bold, savory and sweet bite all together but still won't have you feeling super heavy. The portion size is perfect. Im hoping to return soon for another exquisite meal.

We all ordered slim plates, which is a nice option, as the provide lighter meals for a lower price. For $14.50 I got Prime Rib (I think they call it round steak), mashed potatoes, a salad, a roll, and a side of beans. They offer a wide range of other options, including rotating nighttly specials. The guys at the counter are awesome, and are eager to serve you up a tasty plate, just how you want it! Everything is perfectly serviceable. Drinks are available on the other side of the room, and they have a great selection of beer and liquor (and I expect wines as well). I had a Ukrainian beer with my steak, and it hit the spot! Service at the bar is also quite good. I didn't have an Irish Coffee, since they didn't have fresh coffee made and we were in a bit of a time crunch, but I recall those being a treat as well.
