I'll start by saying I'm hella biased, I love Marufuku over in Temescal, but we wanted to dine in for lunch and found out they were only doing pickup. So we ended up here instead. For starters, we got the enoki chips, and they were such a fun, unique treat. Super crispy with a great texture, I'd absolutely order them again. We also tried the Tada bun. It was good, but it felt like it was missing something to really make it pop. I really appreciated the variety on the menu, especially the starters and curries. There are so many options that I'd definitely come back to try something different next time. If you're vegan, this is actually a great spot. They have three vegan ramen options, which felt special since most places only offer one. My partner ordered the spicy vegan ramen and thought it was terrific, though we both agreed the broth wasn't as rich as we're used to. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen, but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The broth felt a bit underwhelming, and the pork flavor came across stronger than I expected. That said, I'd definitely come back, especially because of the thoughtful vegan options. Next time, I'll probably try the Chashu Bowl, which looked really good when it came out at another table. Immediately, the place was really cold and I was worried about whether we'd have a comfortable experience but sat down anyway. The server had zero motivation to be there. Walked slow, attended slow. Didn't offer any suggestions, didn't ask if we'd been there before. I had to ask him to remove the additional EMPTY and DIRTY dishes off the table so we could make room for our entrees. I wish I tipped less because the service was simply taking the food from the window and ushering it our table. That's about it. The food was good and satisfied my ramen cravings. I was hugely disappointed by the fried enoki mushrooms that other reviewers raved about. It was mostly mushy and tough, not crispy and light despite its look. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen without veggies (lol I know I know) and added corn. The BEST THING about this ramen was the CHA SHU! It was deliciously flame grilled and the flavor was DELICIOUS. The broth was creamy and noodles slightly firm. No complaints here. My son had the chicken karaage bowl and we had to ask for the mayo because they didn't garnish the dish with it at all when it came to the table. This place is small. Service is non existent (at least when I came). And pretty pricey. My one cup of tea and my son's ramune were $5/EACH! 2 non-alcoholic drinks, 1 appetizer, 1 ramen and 1 karaage bowl set me back over $70. Intimate and cozy ramen shop along a busy street in Oakland that has plenty of parking if you're willing to be patient and walk 0.1 miles down the street. The chef is a Japanese woman, and each order was freshly made with a fair wait. The gyoza was one of the best I've had- crispy but not burnt, full of flavor. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and made it spicy- next time, I will skip the spice. The delicate broth was made bland when paired with the spice that they used. Lots of street parking around the area! Came here on a Sunday night around 7PM and we were seated quickly. I like the decor around the restaurant with the wall art with cats :) We ordered enoki fries to share and it was my favorite. Very unique 5/5. I ordered the tonkatsu (broth was creamy) and my friends got the tantanmen! For the tantanmen, the spice gradually builds but we also got the spice ball on the side! Food was so good! I just moved from SF and have been to spots like Marufuku Ramen and Hinodeya Ramen Bar, and this place definitely compares. I got the Tonkotsu and the grilled pork was delicious, super flavorful with a nice char on the edges. Had that nice grilled flavor. I got the spicy on the side since I wasn't sure about the heat level, and ended up using about 3/4 of it. It paired really well with the broth, which was rich and full of flavor. Quite a variety of flavors in the Tada Men I had with NY strip steak, Japanese and Thai curry in the broth, topped with crispy noodles, Cilantro, etc. definitely worth trying if that sounds good to you! I did have a taste of the Chicken Karaage and Grilled Corn Cob, both of which were unique and delicious! The menu has pictures of each item and the presentations are true to them. I noticed this compact Japanese spot on Grand Avenue when I was waiting for the bus going the other way. Well, weeks later, I happened to be on Grand in the middle of the week during a light rainstorm. It was early afternoon, and looking for lunch, I was mildly surprised at how busy it was. I managed to score a window seat since it was a table for two. I noticed the manager was being especially conscientious informing customers that there might be a delay in getting their food because they were down a line cook. I honestly couldn't tell because my food was arriving on a timely basis. Perhaps it was because I skipped the ramen and went for a couple of orders of the yakitori. I just would've preferred a bit more char. The Mochi Bacon was hands down the winner--we loved it so much we ordered another round. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen and it totally hit the spot. They were all tasty, but my favorite is the Bacon Enoki and the Chicken Thigh. There is a Yuzu ramen on the menu, which I've not ever seen before elsewhere. The broth is very light and it does taste like Yuzu! It was interesting to try, but I prefer the classic Tonkotsu ramen. I like the creamy broth. The ramen is worth getting here; the noodles are pretty tasty. The Ebi Furai Curry has large, crispy shrimp along with Japanese curry served with rice. The shrimp is absolutely delicious. You can tell it's freshly fried by how crunchy it was. The Enoki Chips were also new to me. They are fried mushrooms that make for an addicting snack. For dessert, don't skip the Yuzu cheesecake. I had the best experience trying the Yakitori for the first time! I ordered a bunch of different yakitori and ate it with a side of rice. Initially I was going to order ramen with a few yakitori, but I'm glad I didn't. Although I like Yuzu/other ramen I wanted to try something new. The Yakitori was more filling than I thought too. Every one of the Yakitori was cooked and seasoned perfectly! My favorites were the Shishito Pepper Bacon, Shiitake Mushroom, Scallop Bacon, Meatball, Unagi, and Pork Belly. Highly recommend these. The Enoki Bacon, Chicken Thigh, & Mochi Bacon were okay. Service was good! There was only one waiter but he was attentive and polite. I loved the decorations in the restaurant as well. I don't write many reviews these days, but am writing this one because I'm particularly disappointed in my meal at Tada. Our servers were super friendly and the ambience was very nice, but the food quality was pretty bad. I dont love chashu, so I was happy to pay a little more for the Tadaramen because it came with steak instead. However, when it arrived, it was just served with chashu (I asked the server and she said they changed it months ago but forgot to change the menu, which was a bummer). I tried to remain optimistic, but my ramen was barely room temperature and the chashu wasn't even room temperature (felt like it had been added straight from the refrigerator). My husband ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and it was fine (nothing special) but also could have been warmer. We also ordered the Enoki Chips, which we were super excited about. Unfortunately, they came out well after our ramen very cold (again, not even room temperature). I think all three dishes could have been okay warm, but cold deep fried food is pretty unpleasant. That said, we also got the bacon mochi skewer and it was tasty! I was really hoping based on other reviews that we'd found another great ramen spot in town, but after this experience I wont be back. read more

Such a nice surprise to the happy hour that we weren't aware of. Oh and you also get a free drink as well! We also ordered the bacon covered mochi.
