It was delicious! My bf and I have doordashed from here before and it was so good but even better at the restaurant. If you haven't been here definitely need to check it out!

Not too busy on a Saturday evening. Outdoor and indoor seating both available. You pay after ordering with waiter and then a robot brings food to you. We ordered the braised pork rib noodle soup and traditional beef sirloin noodle soup. The soup was felt clean and pretty light. Noodles were solid. The bok choy was too hard though and not cooked soft enough, and the meat was stringy and dry (both pork rib and traditional beef sirloin). Overall was a bit disappointed given the great reviews. Wouldn't come running back personally.

Spicy Cold noodles are life! I'm a lover of Asian food so when Huangcheng was recommended to me via Yelp, I knew I had to head down. Started off with the gyoza and it was delicious! I happily washed that down with a Tsingtao beer! So perfect for lunch time! Of course I had to try the cold noodles. Perfectly spicy and of course, cold! So great. A healthy portion too! Super delicious, a little nutty and everything I want in a cold noodle. I can't forget that our server was a literal robot which was fun to see and experience. Very nice lunch at Huangcheng! I'm already counting the days until I can go again and try something else.

I love handmade noodle shops so I stopped by while driving through Oakland. Cold noodle: B Dry noodle: B+ I like the dry noodle better since it has the minced pork. The noodles taste pretty good but were a bit soft texture wise. Would liked it more if it was chewier.

Foood is amazing here, so full of flavor and spice! The texture of the noodles is fantastic My mouth is so happy, I would definitely come back and devour more noodles.

Stopped by here for brunch noodles and walked away happy & full. There seating inside and outdoors, perfect for hot summer days. If you sit inside, you can see the chef making the dough and slicing the noodles into boiling pots of water. I got the Huangcheng Cold Noodles which were sweet, tangy, and had a numbing spice that made it even more fun to eat. The noodles had great chewiness without being overcooked--very addicting!

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Outdoor seating was pleasant. The pictures we saw online caught our eye. When our food came we were a bit disappointed as it didn't look like it would be good but the taste was still pretty good. We ordered the traditional beef sirloin noodle soup without spicy and it was a bit on the bland side. The beef was really tender even though it looked like it was going to be dry. You can tell the noodles are homemade which is nice but they are a bit dense and filling. I liked the Chongqing noodle as they really got the numbing spicy down. It was just enough spicy and very flavorful. I would have liked the bok choy a bit more cooked. The shrimp Napa potstickers were pretty good despite looking on the smaller side but I thought the filling to wrapper ratio was on point.

Very good food and service. Had the pig ears but a bit spicy for me but really enjoyed the braised beef noodle soup. Server Cathy was super nice and helpful and I recommend giving the place a try. It's relatively easy to find right along the road and parking was easy to find. Ambiance was plain but easy to get seating either indoor or outdoor.

Popped in to Huangcheng for dinner. The restaurant was empty besides one other table, probably because it was a weeknight. We ordered the Chongqing street noodle and seafood stir fried noodle. The stir fried noodle was great - noodles had bouncy texture, seasoning and flavor were strong, and the dish came out piping hot. We didn't love the Chongqing street noodle as much - it was pretty watery/soupy, and we felt that flavor was lacking. That being said, you can tell the noodles here are homemade/made from scratch. Huangcheng has a ton of interior and patio seating. Service was fast and friendly. Heads up they ask you to pay immediately after ordering, and our food was brought to us via a table robot.

They are super friendly and the food is great! I usually come here when I'm craving ribs and it's my goto item here. I've tried other items but the ribs are "deelish". They cook the food upfront so you can see the preparation which is a great touch. My only gripe is there aren't enough ribs/meat for $25 & there is more bones than meat. I love the little bit of meat that is on these bones which is why I still purchase it. I do believe more can be given at this price for such little reward though and that's why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. They are located just outside of Swans Market, and Is say it's a Mom & pop kinda place. They are friendly & have really good customer service, from the chef, to the wait staff...cheers!

I attended a conference in the Bay Area and decided to stay in Oakland. While exploring Old Oakland for any interesting restaurants, I discovered Huang Cheng Noodles and decided to try it. I ordered a spicy seafood noodle dish, but the seafood was undercooked and was nowhere near spicy. While I was there, there were only a handful of customers, making an order mix-up unlikely. They also asked me to pay upfront in cash. Given my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

    Seafood fried rice

My first time here and I must say the food was amazing fresh, made to order. We got the BBQ pork ribs, pork potstickers, seafood fried rice and garlic green beans. To my surprise, the food was tasty, seasoned to perfection and the best part was getting served by a robot. If I could rate it 10 stars, I would!!!

The noodle soup prices were decent, but the potstickers and dumplings felt a bit expensive. The restaurant itself was very quiet with no music, which made the atmosphere a little awkward, though we did come around 3 PM, so it was a slow time. The tables were also placed very close together, making it hard to get in and out. The food portions were good. My Chongqing street noodles were delicious and full of flavor. My friend's traditional beef sirloin noodle soup was good but a bit bland. Service was okay. not bad, not great, just basic.

I usually come with my family, and we order damn near everything on the menu. The aunties serving dishes actually laugh when they see how much food they're dropping off at the table. My favorites are the chili oil wontons, hot and dry noodles, bok choy, and General Tso's chicken. The wontons have just the right amount of heat, the noodles are thicccc and chewy, and every dish somehow manages to disappear before we can even think about leftovers. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything you order. One of my favorite parts is watching them make the noodles by hand. Half the restaurant is dedicated to the noodle-making station, while the other half is for seating. It's not a huge dining room, but they do offer the Yelp Waitlist, so you can check the live wait before heading over. The vibe is very, get your food and head out so they can keep up with table space for incoming guests. Always a hit, never a miss.

Fyi the interior isn't much to write home about but comfortable. Then the food came. My soup was freaking delicious! Loads of chicken meat (just chopped up with the bones so be careful for shards), plenty of dumplings, and the broth was sooo good! With that said although Yu Yu is located in a pretty sketch area of Oakland/Berkeley, I would still recommend eating here just for its authenticity. They seem to have a parking lot in the back but we manage to find street parking in the front. You're better off looking for parking in the back than the front due to limited spaces. As for the food it was delicious. For the jajangmyeon you are given the noodles separately from the sauce; this allows you to pour in as much or as little as you want. I personally felt their flavors were mild enough that I poured in the whole thing. As for the tang su yook, it comes with a sweet and sour sauce that's bomb dot com. Even as stuffed as I was with the jajangmyeon, I managed to still find it in myself to finish the last bits of the tang su yook. Highly recommend. The restaurant itself seems to be newly renovated; don't let the rough exterior fool you. The inside was nice and clean but they only have room for four large tables that can fit a parties of 6, and the rest range from parties of 2-4. Last but not least service, they seem to run lean and understaffed but the gentlemen working did his best. Just be mindful if you come at a busy time you may have to wait.
