I'm writing this review as we wait for dinner. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful. Everything is spotless. Our waitress, Mackenzie, was immediately ready with water and menus. When her shift ended, Addie took over. She was attentive and answered all our questions. I had the Lamb Nawabi which was cooked with cashews,cream,fenugreek leaves, a touch of yogurt and herbs. The sauce was delicious and the lamb was tender. My husband had the Tadka Chef's Special listed for kabob lovers with tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, lamb boti kabob and shrimp tandoori. The meat was flavorful. My husband probably would have cooked the lamb less but overall delicious! Of course all meals need Naan bread and we had the garlic flavored one which was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. I read over the previous reviews and wanted to verify that they do indeed charge a credit card fee. To us, this seems logical since they are charged a fee, much like a gas station charges more for credit. They also do charge for another bowl of rice but the rice portion was more than adequate for our dishes. This is definitely a restaurant worthy of repeat visits! read more

This place was unpleasant the minute we walked in the doors. We were met by the host/waitress. It was instantly obvious she was not friendly and the words on her tee shirt backed up our assumption. The shirt said she didn't give a sh*t today and that she wont give a f*ck tomorrow. What was worse was that my nine year old granddaughter noticed it first. So tacky and unprofessional. What kind of waitress wears a shirt like that to serve people food??? The tikka masala we ordered was very tomato tasting and in my opinion, just so so. We won't be stopping there again. read more

I have been going to Tadka for a number of years. I have ordered so many different items from the menu, and have always been completely delighted with the presentation and the flavors , the portion sizes and the prices! The staff are very kind , professional and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The food is top notch, but the service and policies are terrible. Here are a few of the key issues: they add a credit card surcharge without asking/informing you, they charge for more rice (unlike their nearby competitors), and they will charge you for an additional soda if you change the type of soda while eating. For example, if you order a Cola then ask for a refill of a root beer, they count that as a new drink, even though they are both sodas with free refills. Last, the spice levels are inconsistent. Medium one day is comparable to mild on another. Overall, I continue to get food from here because it is tasty, I just wish they could make some adjustments to be more customer focused. Didn't feel like driving to Bombay House, so we figured we would just see if we could find something that would pass to kill the craving. Well, I am thrilled to say that I found a new favorite spot for amazing Indian food. We tried the Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken, and both were amazing - and yes, better than Bombay House. The Naan was on point. The cucumber salad wasn't bad, but I do prefer it more in a vinegar based dressing. Sandeep was very friendly and fun to talk to, and he made our experience even better. Wow! Decent Indian food in Payson Utah?! I'm from Atlanta Georgia where we have a huge Indian community and hundreds of amazing Indian restaurants and although this wasn't the best I've ever had, it was decent... especially considering I was in the middle of nowhere (sorry no offense intended Paysonites). We ordered 3 different dishes (Chicken Masala, Chicken Kadai methi and malai kofta). Everything was pretty decent. I let our server know that I eat a lot of Indian food at home and asked for a unique recommendation and she recommended the most common stuff on the planet. So that was a little bit of a let down, but what I guessed at and ordered on my own turned out great: chicken kadai methi. It was decently spicy, and had great strong pleasantly sour flavor. We stopped in Payson overnight on our drive home to LA. What a surprise to find an Indian restaurant in this small town south of SLC. A further surprise to find it was really, really, really good. We've had Indian food around the world and this ranks high. I got the Chef's Special mixed tandoori. Perfectly cooked and spiced. Surprised to find a good Indian restaurant in Payson of all places. LOL My oldest brother had a religious gathering and we all came here afterwards to eat. There were probably 40 of us total going for the buffet. The selection was nice, everything was prepared nicely and loaded with flavor and nothing overly spicy which is a good thing for me. Service was rocking it and they kept up on removing plates and filling drinks one after the other. For sure will come back and want to try ordering off of the menu next time. read more

My husband first tried their food when his work had them cater for them. He had been wanting to go to their restaurant the next time we were in Payson so we planned a trip down there for a triple date. We went for their Lunch Buffet and the food was delicious. Their basmati rice wasn't my most favorite, but it wasn't the worst I've gotten. Their buffet had Saag and Butter Chicken and those are some of my favorites. The weirdest part was their service. We walked in, it was a group of 6 of us. The woman asked if we were all doing the lunch buffet and then pointed to a booth and said we could sit there and there was a coat rack at the door that we could hang our coats at. We hung our coats and then figured we would start with the buffet. We grabbed our food and eventually got some waters brought to us. We never received menus so we had no idea how much we were paying for our food. It was just kind of awkward. We never got a check so we all got up and went to the counter and we told them what we got and then paid there. Again, it was just weird. We will go again if we are down there, but I'll just know to expect awkward service next time. read more

I come in here often and this is a wonderful restaurant...however yesterday we had a horrible experience...our server was by far the most unpleasant person I've come across in a long time...she slammed drinks down and rolled her eyes when we inconvenienced her by asking for sweetener. So let's start with location: you're in Payson area, UT. You are NOT going to find Indian food. But WAIT!!! Here is Tadka. Color me happy and surprised. Came here with my sister-in-law and my 14 YO daughter for the all you can eat lunch special/ buffet. What's to like: 1. Traditional dishes: it has all the basics of what you think is going to be here: naan and all the curries that you're used to. My recommendation is all the "soups": eat them as a curry. It's fine and thick enough. 2. Price: won't break your bank at $11/$12 a person (I can't remember how much it was). If you're a big eater, this is a great place to come. What you'll miss: 3. Meat: there is more meat than just chicken, kids. But not at this restaurant. Sheesh. I miss my lamb! Why I'll come back: I have family in the area we visit probably every year. There isn't much of a selection here, so this is a great option from all the bland food around.
