I haven't been to the Taft Theatre in years, but was there this past Saturday night. My husband and I arrived a little early, so we had time to get a drink before the show. Our seats were on the floor, a few rows from the back, but the view was perfect! Rows are EXTREMELY tight, luckily, nobody was sitting next to me because I wouldn't have been able to cross and uncross my legs if they had been. read more

Wonderful performance space! I don't think there's a bad seat in the house! I came to see E.T. in Concert with the Cincinnati Pops and it was excellent! Great acoustics, restrooms on each level, and comfortable seats. It can get a bit warm in the balcony though and there is not a whole lot of leg room, but overall a great venue! read more

This was my first time ever being at Taft Theater, I was in the second row and saw The Cult here, and have to say its an amazing and gorgeous old theater. I enjoyed being at this place and think its a great place to see any concert.. Also the intricate old details of the ceiling were beautiful and the theater itself had great space for everyone to enjoy the show. All of the staff were super nice and helpful to find your seats. The parking is not bad either for $10 there's a garage across the street. For being an out-of-towner I was happily impressed with the sound and ambiance of this theater. read more

I would have given three stars. The building itself is awesome the bands were amazing !The people working there not so much . They were very rude and not at all willing to help. We had purchased ticket from ticketmaster.com and when we arrived were told that they were already being used ? That's it, no "hey go to such and such to find out what is goin on". Just you're not aloud in ! Well of course I complained, and eventually they gave me new tickets that were several rows further away than what I had paid for . And that was it, take or leave it , no adjustments no discount, nope not even any help finding your seat ! We ended up being in a whole empty row with ONE other person at the end. Also in said row I could not even hardly move around as the floor was so sticky that if I did it would pull my shoe off . I didn't even bother with management after that. read more

Nice smaller venue. The balcony can get very warm in the summer. The auditorium is a little unfinished looking but the theatre is nice. Loved the shows that they host. The Star Trek with the live Orchestra was fantastic! read more

Saw the Cult here last night, easy to find, actually parked for free so that's a plus. Open entrance leading into a great hall right into the theatre, upstairs downstairs, ez-pz. Sat in the balcony section, show was tight, sound held up well. Decor is nice, not overwhelming, I would guess 2000 seats in the place. Feels less historic than other venues of same size, Fox, Ohio Theatre and more like an old building. read more

The Ballroom is a total joke. Standing room only! Seriously? A bunch of couches off the side but no chairs. Not coming back.

What a wonderful Venue!! Not a bad seat in the place. Acoustics are good. They have maintained it's lovely Art Deco architecture throughout. Went with friends to the Hendrix Experience on 3/13/16. Our seats were in Balcony - Row M. The view of the stage was very good, but the acoustics were not that great.. Sounded like you were listening to a band at a block party - from a block or two away.. Muddy, not clean and crisp. We went to see the Stones at Ohio State Stadium and our seats couldn't be any higher and further from the stage but the sound was amazing - so If they can do that in an open air environment - you should be able to get better sound in the Taft. The Venue was nice, seating nice, sight lines are good. I was surprised to see they allowed people to stand in front of the stage later in the show.. Had I paid the big $$$ for those front row seats - I would have been pissed!. We've got tickets to Led Zeppelin Experience in late May - but we have better seats on the main floor (not balcony). I'm hoping the acoustics are cleaner down there or I'll be extremely disappointed. read more

Went to a show at this theater, when the show ended I walked over to the seats where my friends I cam with were. An employee of this theater pushed me with both hands using all of her force because she wanted me to leave the area and she physically blocked from passing through the aisle to my friends. I was so astonished she would treat an adult paying customer in this manner, I went to take her picture so I could speak to the manager and point out exactly who she was. She then grabbed my phone and refused to give it back for quite some time and my screen is now cracked. Spoke to a woman named Robyn who said she was the manager and that she would speak with the general manager Ryan. I can't even believe that this is the kind of place that allows their ushers to assault a customer, snatch and damage their property. This is nuts. I filled out an incident report and I had better hear from upper management. read more

What a great facility to host the Cincinnati Symphony while Musica Hall gets renovated. The historic building, The theater hosts 2,500 seats and the best part is not one has an obstructed view of the stage so you are always guarenteed a good seat. The theater was built in 1928 and offers a really neat look into the Art Deco movement while you exlopre the halls, grab a drink before the show and find your seats. Something we had always complained about at Music Hall are the uncomfortable seats and Taft Theater has solved thsoe issues with stadium seating that offers room and comfort without taking away from the gorgeous hall inside. The bathrooms could use some updating, hiding down in the basesment but there are pleanty of stalls and makes the lines go extremely fast, which is not always the case other places. There are several bars within as well, though some are hidden in the wings and those have much faster lines, FYI! They do allow you to order drinks before the show to have waiting for you at intermission, though all lines were so quick I do not think you need this option. The venue is not limited to the Cincinnati Symphony, offering all types of music concerts throughout the year. I cannot wait to get back to see another show! read more

Here is a copy of a letter I sent to management and received no reply - it was a miserable evening and my only recourse thus far is to ask my credit card company for a chargeback. Dear Mr. Morrell: I have an issue that I would like to bring to your attention. We attended the Tedeschi Trucks concert last night. We purchased tickets with good friends that we rarely get together with and were looking forward to a great evening. When we arrived, we were delighted by our proximity to the stage and a clear view. Unfortunately, that changed quickly. When the concert started, people continued to arrive. Two rows in front of us was a young man that refused to sit down. He was asked repeatedly to please sit down by several people around us so that the people behind him could see the performers on the stage. He refused and became very belligerent, stating "I'll take this outside with anyone who wants to take me on." It was very disruptive to the concert. Behind the man that was causing trouble were two women. They were obviously very intoxicated, were loud and would swing their arms in the air spilling beer from their cups, hang all over one another, and again, were very disruptive. Amazingly enough, your staff continued to serve them alcohol as they would periodically stumble out their aisle returning with fresh cups of beer. Directly in front of us, next to the women, were a couple and the man insisted on sitting on the arm of his chair rather than in his chair. When asked to sit down, he too refused. The final straw was when they began trading seats by climbing over the seats into each other's row. Your ushers stood by the doors to the right of the seats and watched this happen. VERY DISRUPTIVE. I left my seat to find someone to help remedy this situation. Please be aware that I was not the first person, nor the last, to look for help from your staff. When I explained the situation, to my amazement, I was told "the band wants people to stand up." I understand standing periodically for various things that happen during a concert - applause, recognition of the band members, solos, etc. But does the band also want intoxicated patrons to spill beer on others, block the view of the stage for the entire concert and offer to start a brawl? It would be nice if you would let the public know this before they have the opportunity to purchase tickets so they can make an educated decision as to whether or not they would like to attend the concert under those conditions. I have a bad ankle which prohibits me from standing for three hours straight simply because of a few individuals that won't sit down and have no consideration for others. Fortunately, most people were considerate of their fellow concert goers and remained seated - except for the group in front of us. My friends and I decided to leave before the concert ended as we were having a miserable time and could not enjoy the show. As we were leaving, I told the usher at the door that we will never purchase tickets for the Taft again given the way the situation was handled last night. I can enjoy a concert better on television than I could at your facility last night. I will say that we saw Joe Bonamassa at the Taft last year and thoroughly enjoyed the show - we were seated closer to the stage and most people stayed in their seats, and if they stood, it wasn't for the entirety of the concert. They were also not intoxicated nor climbing over the seats looking for a fight. It is unfortunate that your staff could not control the situation last night in a better manner. As such, I would like to be compensated for our miserable evening. How can you make this up to us? Our first choice would be you reimburse us for our four tickets. The total, including service fees, is $237.32. I can produce ticket stubs and receipts should you need them. If you have an alternate form of compensation you would like to provide, please let me know. I would hope you will offer something to help remedy our complete and utter dismay over last night's event. Should you choose to do nothing, I will file a complaint with my credit card company asking that they reverse charges, I will call the Cincinnati Police Department and report that you serve alcohol to intoxicated individuals, and post this story on the social websites to which I belong. I will also ask my friends on these websites to "share" the story with their friends. Perhaps the media would also be interested in this story. Bad news travels quickly. Please understand that I'm not threatening you, I'm simply letting you know that I'm angry about this situation and want something done about it. I can be reached by email at xxxx or xxxx. TERRY FATOR SHOW - TAFT THRTE - CINCINATTI - JULY 19 1. Terry Fator SHOW - Great! Perfect length (90min). Covered his "success story" in a series of skits both with and without his puppets; including several singing numbers backed up by his live 8 piece band. 2. SOUND - Very Good (which is rare from me b/c I am a sound engineer and all too often, young deaf and arrogant sound engineers ruin an otherwise great performance. 3. LIGHTS - Good. Exceptions being; WTF with the spots and flashes into the audience's eyes! Really - in the last 10 years it seems to be mandatory that the "lighting designer" (they like that over engineer - LOL) has to include several flashes into the eyes of the crowd. Grow Up Guys! 4. VIDEO - OK -kindof. The top of the projected image of Terry was Not Visible by anyone Not in Floor Seats. Jeez - AV guys - TEST THINGS before the show and for Gods Sake - USE COMMON SENSE! Everyone should be able to see the show! 5. VENUE/THEATER - Appearance - Great - Comfort - HORRIBLE The Taft is a rennovated theater where the rennovators decided to install *extremely UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS* that most Normal people cannot sit it. That is not an exageration! I am 5ft 9in, (not tall) and 210lb (thick but not huge like over 30% of our population is). There was barely enough Width to comfortably sit in. There was NO LEG ROOM. My wife and I were dying in agony 30 minutes into the show b/c our knees HURT from hitting the back of the seats in front of us - and the Drink Holders. My "man junk" was squished into a painful, sweaty mess, and my back and hips hurt like crazy. The poor 6-ft tall, 240lb kid next to me was in agony. And none of us could Go to the BATHROOM or get Drinks - b/c we could NOT WALK from our seat to the aisle after sitting down!!!!! Also - WTF with the AWFUL AIR CONDITIONING? Did we need to pay extra to have a reasonably comfortable temperture setting? Not only were we all in pain from the STUPID SEATS - we were hot and sweating and RIDICULOUSLY UNCOMFORTABLE. *** This is a Very Stupid Trend in many New and Rennovated venues. a) The city or other *Owner of the venue makes a Spec Sheet for the seating. b) The *Architects (who should be experts in ergonomics - you would hope) Design the seating and spec the Seats themselves, then they pass these on to c) the *Purchasing Agent for the City/Owner, who d) gets them installed by a *Contractor who builds out the interior, which e) must be Inspected by *City or State Inspectors, and finally f) the completed work must be Approved by one or more representatives of the City/Owner. So - out of SIX PEOPLE and/or Organizations - NOT ONE could have figured out that Clearly the Seats - their SIZE and LOCATION *WILL NOT FIT ANY AVERAGE SIZED AMERICANS*. This last year - I have been to 3 other venues, in different cities and they ALL had the same STUPID DECISIONS made and LACK OF FORSIGHT and ACCOUNTABILITY for something SO SIMPLE as making a venue a Comfortable Location to Enjoy an event at. And there are truly NO COST based reasons to justify these decisions - in part b/c the venue LOSES MONEY every time they p*ss off someone like me who choses to Never Come Back. These are JUST BAD DECISIONS and do NOT MAKE SENSE. read more

On 2/25/17 I purchased tickets for Bring It Live.My 11 yr. old daughter stated that she wanted front row seats. I purchased orchestra 3 row A seats 6 and 7 with the VIP experience (totaling $ 240.87) On 7/22/17 we attend the show...the show itself was Fantastic!!! However the front row seats were turned into 3rd row because there was 2 rows of folding chairs placed in front of our row (Yes unheard of) I was livid!!!! Doesn't front row mean front row or is there some new lingo that I'm missing????? read more

Taft has terrible customer service. Received an email that Gin Blossoms show was changed from reserved seats to General Admit 4 days before the show because they didn't sell enough tickets. HELLO - IT'S SUMMER AND PEOPLE HAVE PLANS. Had their customer service been on the ball they would have made the change weeks ago when they had not sold enough tickets and I could have gone on vacation. Then top it off I get a telephone call from Taft - Kelly - who was so rude talking over top of me then when I said excuse me would not speak at all. I guess we have first graders running the show there. NEVER AGAIN. read more

The Taft Theatre is a phenomenal asset to the concert scene in Cincinnati. I have seen some memorable shows there. What a treat to actually hear the music-no void or weird acoustical warps. Wilco, last night- Excellent. Happy to see Jeff Tweedy in form. But seriously, is there NO ventilation in that building? It was stifling. Tweedy politely joked about it late in the evening. Now, with global heating a harsh reality- Taft- gotta figure out how to cool and circulate some air. Walked to the front to get a better look at this venerable rock act- they were drenched in sweat. I felt bad for them, unsafe conditions for performers. It's barely May. I was thinking of buying Dr. John tickets, but the thought of being present at his death by stage suffocation- pass. read more
