Great dinner location with lots of home cooking options. The restaurant was super busy n a Friday night but plenty of tables so we were promptly seated. Our server had some great recommendations and within our table we had the pot roast, burger with a special request granted of 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings, and a flat bread pizza. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I personally had the pot roast served hot in a cast iron skillet for a down home personal touch. It also came with the option of soup or salad. It was delicious and filing (I even had some to take home) and I highly recommend it. We will definitely stop in again the next time we are in the area. But wait... don't forget dessert!! Solid food, great location and an overall fun time (Sunday brunch). Taggart Benedict was solid and the Salmon Benedict that my wife had was good as well. I'm picky about my eggs and they nailed over easy perfectly. (Too many places end up with way too much color on the eggs). My only complaint, and it really is just a minor thing, was that the potatoes were over salted. Not a big issue and probably very much Utah appropriate.... The service was solid and in fact they told us it would be a 25+ minute wait so part of our party went for a walk...less than 10 minutes in, I received the text that our table was ready. We were recommended Taggart's Grill by a friend in Park City. We showed up, and it was fairly crowded, but since we were both there (you can't get seated unless your entire party is available), we got seated almost immediately as other parties were waiting for the rest of the party. The food was excellent (Fish & Chips and Smoked Salmon and Spinach Salad) and the service was also great. One of the dishes was misprepared (we'd asked for it to be changed a bit) but was immediately removed and replaced fairly quickly. We each had a beer which accompanied the meal nicely. We've dined at Taggart's for years and have really enjoyed the food taking many family members and friends along the way. Tonight we decided on a last minute dinner and ran up. My wife ordered the smoked salmon salad special and I decided to try their filet mignon. We were really disappointed. We gave some feedback to the waiter but because we mentioned multiple items I'm not sure we were really taken seriously---and no, we weren't looking for any compensation. Anyway I thought I would provide this review in hopes someone at Taggart's takes note and looks to make improvements---there are few places to eat in Morgan County and Taggart's has been a good one over the years and we would like to see that continue. Now for the specifics: The salmon salad had battered and deep fried avocado slices on top. They tasted horrible----like the oil they were cooked in was bad or something. The filet was surprisingly a little tough (I ordered it medium and it was cooked medium---so not an issue of over cooking.) The Asparagus was thin, dry, and very hard to cut with a steak knife. The au-gratin potatoes were way too salty. Anyway, have never had a dinner with so many misses as tonight. Hope it returns to the great quality it has been in the past. read more

Taggart's Grill is a true hidden gem in Northern Utah. So hidden, many people we've introduced to it say "we never knew this was here!" My husband and I and a friend took our motorcycles out for a spin last Sunday and Taggart's was the destination. We arrived at around noon, and true to form, it was busy, but we got seated in less than 10-15 minutes. The host will offer to text you if that's how you prefer to be notified your table is ready, but we're old school, so we opted for a holler. Server Tenley was friendly and efficient (she's waited on us before), and the kitchen staff split my husband's and my lunch entree without a problem. We ordered the mushroom swiss burger and the mushrooms were sauteed to perfection and the french fries were nice and crispy. I particularly liked that the burger was served on a brioche bun instead of a plain jane white bun. They also do a great job with spinach enchiladas and eggs benedict. I've never tried their desserts, but they look amazing (the bakery case is right where you walk in). Probably for the best; I have a terrible sweet tooth! If you're ever traveling on I-84 near Morgan Utah, look for exit #108 and get ready to enjoy a tasty meal in a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. read more

Our most recent visit was a wonderful break away from the norm of the Wasatch Front. The quality of our meals were top notch and delicious. Artichoke Dip with both Pita Bread and Tortilla Chips, Fish and Chips and the Taggarts version of a Smash Burger hit the spot for us. Desert is NEVER to be overlooked! All are made fresh In House with plenty of options. A decedent Chocolate Cake and a Lemon Sponge made the end of this visit memorable. We went to Taggarts for dinner. We had heard a lot about it and wanted to try it. The service was good. We ordered some deep fried mushrooms. They had a grease taste to them. I feel the grease they fried them in needed changed. I had the Halibut Augratin. The halibut was good, but the potatoes were runny. My husband had the Prime Rib. It was ok, but have had better. He was taken back when we asked for Au Jus for it and was told that would be an extra charge. Not everyone likes horseradish and Au Jus has always been served when we have had Prime Rib at other places. The prices did not reflect the quality of their food. Busy day with about a 40 minute wait. Went fast. Once seated, greeted right away. Server was very friendly, but with it being busy was not able to make regular check-ins. We had carrot cake, double trouble cheesecake, and pink frosted cookie. The carrot cake was out-of-this-world delicious. Moist, tender, lots of shredded carrot. Perfect. Frosted cookie was very pleasant. Dilectible and delicious. Baked perfectly with golden bottom. The frosting was a great complement. A hint of vanilla and very smooth. This place has the worlds greatest carrot cake! The food all around is amazing but the carrot cake is living rent-free in my head. I don't like carrot cake, but this carrot cake is amazing. Who would've thought a cake filled with a vegetable could be so delicious. Warning! Once you eat this carrot cake all other carrot cakes will taste like garbage. We were excited to try this place. And it did not disappoint. The hubs and I both got burgers. The house made buns were the star of this show. They were incredible. The rest of the burger was fine, but the bun made it!!! Fries were good. Salad was good. Everything was good. We got 5 desserts to go and they were all pretty good. We stopped by Taggart's a few weeks ago after a fall leaves drive up north. We've been coming to Taggart's for many years and I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet! We called ahead and put our name on the call ahead list and had a 45 minute wait when we got there and checked in (a Friday night at 5pm). We were happy to watch the peacocks while we waited! After we were seated we ordered our food and our server was very kind and personable. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and my husband had the enchiladas. Both our meals were excellent. We bought two desserts to bring home. A frosted chocolate brownie and a piece of Double Trouble cheesecake. The cheesecake was delicious, it had their famous carrot cake on the bottom and New York cheesecake on the top. I'm so sad to say that the brownie was inedible. It was hard as a rock and there is NO WAY that the girl who took it from the dessert case couldn't tell that it was. We were pretty bummed because the treats at Taggart's are legendary. the service was excellent and the surroundings are beautiful with trees and hills all around. my wife and i had been talking about coming up here from kaysville for a while and finally decided to go this last sun. i ordered the halibut fillet dinner. 4 pcs with fries and tartar sauce. i'm expecting some nice halibut fillets but what i got were four fish sticks. they tasted like something you'd get at arctic circle in fact i had the same fillets at leatherbys just a few days before. i don't expect fresh halibut in utah but i figure a place known for their food would have the best quality. anyway, my wife ordered the eggs benedict which very oddly comes with potatoes augratin. they don't have breakfast potatoes? don't get me wrong my wife said they were both good individually but not together. she ate the benedict but saved the taters for later. now the dessert counter has tons of options if you like cheesecake or cookies but i saw no pies or cakes other than carrot. we bought a piece of carrot cake as we heard folks raving about it and my wife got a chocolate chip cheese cake and a peanut butter cookie. the carrot cake is worth the hype and the cookie had the taste and texture of a home made cookie. wonderful. my wife really enjoyed the cheesecake though it's taking a couple days to eat. very rich. we will go back but i will not order the fish and chips. read more

Just barely made it before they closed at 9pm on a. Sunday. Still a few tables seated but no wait. The kitchen was closing so no time to waste. A couple of beers, creamy soup and entrees on the way. The soup totally hit the spot but the veggie pita melt was a bit off with sprouts in it and the chicken was "bits" rather than tender slices of chicken breast. My boyfriend enjoyed his shrimp scampi but it was a tad on the skimmpy side for $20 scampi in a country diner. Friendly swift service even though we knew they wanted to close up. Tonight my husband and I went to Taggerts for a nice meal. We both ordered the tenderloin both the both expensive items on the menu I preferred rare my husband medium rare. I told our server mine was not rare She told the chef. She said it was temped correct. Was not rare. The potatoes were so dry I could not eat them $130 dollars were spent on a sub standard meal. Just had dinner at Taggerts. This will be the last time I have dinner at Taggerts. I had what was suppose to be a chicken enchilada. It was terrible! The chicken was like sawdust. Pulverized chicken with no flavor. it looked like saw dust!. The tortilla was soggy, gummy and the entire meal was cold. There was more water from the serving of black beans than was in my glass of water. The cream sauce was the consistency of wall-paper paste. The rice was cold and tasteless. This place is set in such a lovely location. The mountains make for such a beautiful backdrop. - Food: We got the artichoke dip and the beer battered mushrooms to start. They were both awesome but the artichoke dip was especially lovely. For entrees we got the BLT, the fish and chips, the soup and salad and the halibut augratin. It was all very good but the halibut was exceptional. Go with that. The fries are also very good. The fish and chips were good but not my favorite. - The ambiance of this place is just wonderful. It is set up right in Ogden canyon close up to the mountains. Pulling up to this place and seeing how lovely it is was really a pleasure. - The service was really quite good. Here's my honest review of Taggarts. The good bad and the ugly. I've been here a few times in the past. My wife has never eaten here, even though we've talked about it. The good It's tucked away in a beautiful canyon. When you arrive don't be surprised if you see wildlife. We saw a small herd of deer around the building and in the parking lot. When you walk in, you see the desserts they make! You need to partake in them, even if that's all you go there for! My wife and kids loved the food. My kids especially loved the beer battered fries and the desserts! It's a very nice place to go eat and get out of the city. The bad I'm happy to say there was no bad. There was not even guilt for eating the desserts! The Ugly Again I'm happy there was no ugly (except I don't have any pictures). Very good service! We'll be going back! read more

For a single lone restaurant along the Weber river, this place was suggested by our fishing guide from SLFF Co. After a day of fishing the Weber for huge brown trout, we stopped by this place for a very good dinner. Great service, friendly folks, and very good food was 5 stars. The only issue was that they don't serve wines by the glass. There were only 4 choices and they said you can take home what you don't drink home. Cons: $30 bottle of mediocre Pinot. Their burgers were a bit dry. Salad dressings were all diet - no oil. Pros: Only location in Taggart where we fished that portion of the Weber river. Friendly and attentive staff. Worst dining experience ever. My wife ordered the filet tenderloin and it was like a piece of rubber. The mashed potatoes were served cold. We returned it and ordered something else. The manager wanted to charge us for the unsatisfactory food. He then came and questioned my wife and wanted to split the charge with us since "he has a business to run". My friends had bug chicken enchilada he couldn't finish and a chicken " tostada" which looked more like taco salad in the shell but loads of chicken greens and more. A hidden gem. Even though Taggart's stands alone where it is located, it is definitely worth the trip! I would recommend going earlier in the day if possible. It seems like the place gets substantially more busy after 5 PM. I had the fish and chips which were good. Terrible and rude! We made our 30 minute reservation for 3pm (they take people until then ) they said over the phone they will sit us for Mother's Day. We drove all the way up with kids for a table of 7. Called 3 mins before we got there to make sure it was still ok. We got there at 3 - ran in and the lady rejected us. She said because we were a l minute late, they had to stick to their guns, she was very rude to me. I hope the owners discuss this poor nasty behavior with their employees. First the good. The service staff is efficient. The desserts are fantastic. The salads were okay. The salad dressing was great. Maybe it was just a bad night. These are the things that are not good; The food we received was inedible. It was not just bad. Our entrees were not edible. We took a couple of bites and left the rest. The potatoes were the only thing that were even good at all and they were over salted. We were seated in a long hallway or add on that has been converted into a serving area. We had read that guests have fun watching peacocks wandering around. We could not see that in the hallway. We asked the person serving us about what we ordered and we were told what we ordered was good. If we had been told the dishes we ordered were not great, we would have ordered something else. The shrimp were tiny rubbery little things. 7 tiny shrimp were in a tiny bowl of pasta. The pasta was dry and tasted like it had been cooked the day before. The sauce was from a dehydrated mix. I think that hard little red things were dried red peppers, I cannot be sure. There were no vegetables except the dehydrated peppers. The oil did not help. No cheese was offered. The salmon was dry and had a bit of sauce on top. The vegetables were dripping in grease and very overcooked. We drove to Morgan just to eat at Taggart's. We will never forget that again. I love coming to Taggert's! It's located right in the canyon and the mountains around it are beautiful! If the weather is good, I recommend eating outside! You'll probably even see some peacocks that are usually roaming around there :) Everything I've ordered here has been delicious. Some favorites include the pot roast (seasonal), chicken pizza, and turkey pita sandwich! They have a large variety of options, so everyone should be able to find something they enjoy! The main reason I decided on 4 stars instead of 5 is because the last time we came, we had to wait a really long time for all of the food to come out.
