I cannot say enough wonderful things about Tahir Surgical Center in Mesa. I had an urgent and incredibly painful situation last Monday and initially called urgent care, who referred me here. I called Tahir Surgical Center last minute, not knowing what to expect, and was immediately welcomed by the most compassionate and understanding staff member. She truly listened, understood the pain I was in, and personally reached out to Dr. Tahir to see if I could be squeezed in. Despite it being a holiday week, being short-staffed, and already busy (as emergencies always seem to happen at the worst times), Dr. Tahir agreed to see me the very same day. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly, caring staff who made me feel comfortable and reassured. Dr. Tahir was kind, attentive, and efficient, and he promptly took me to the surgical room where I underwent an urgent procedure that, while unexpected, was absolutely necessary. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Tahir and his entire team for going above and beyond to care for me on such short notice. Their compassion, professionalism, and willingness to help during a stressful and painful time truly meant everything to me. Thank you Dr.Tahir! I cannot be more thankful. I have had stomach pain since December, sent home from the ER twice. Finally got referred here and they got me in same day. Very next day had imaging. 3 days later I got my appendix taken out. I've now had a couple weeks to heal. Dr.Tahir is the first doctor in a long time to actually listen to me and have the urgency to help me. In addition, the rest of his staff is amazing. His medical assistants are so kind. I was referred to Tahirs through workman's comp for a hernia so I had no choice, but good lord I would have NEVER chosen this place after going through this. Dr. Tahir does not care about patients pain and has zero personability. He made me feel stupid for every question I asked. After my initial surgery they sent me home with an open wound that they forgot to glue, I sent him pictures but he shut down the idea that it could be open because of course he did the surgery. I called about the pain meds not helping and asked for some different meds like ibuprofen and they never called me back. Now the worst part, I had to call the office after 4 weeks to extend my work restrictions because I was not ready to jump back into working like he said I was, when I got there I showed him my incision scabs, he proceeds to lay me down and grabs tools, I say "is this gonna hurt?" He replies back with a snooty attitude "it won't hurt me" then Dr. Tahir proceeds to rips off my scabs from my incision sights that weren't fully healed, re-opening them, he then poked a hole in my of my incisions with the wood tip of a cotton swab stick, when I tell you the amount of shock and pain I was in, it honestly felt like I was getting tortured it did not feel right. He never told me how to proceed with working out, like easing into it or anything, I expressed pain I was still having and he just said to get an ultrasound in 3 months if I'm still dealing with the pain. You're basically on your own after the surgery, this man will not make you feel comfortable or confident in recovery whatsoever. I don't wish anyone to go to this man and I will never step foot in that building again. This isn't me being dramatic either, I'm shocked how this all played out and honestly makes me not trust anything in the medical field more than I already didn't. read more

Mediocre experience. Great for lasts second appointments as I scheduled 2 days out! But also the appointment itself felt like a fast food but hole exam. If your do not have questions they won't advise you. Make sure to do your homework be overly thorough in your understanding. Okay bedside manner, no complaints was just fast and after was given recommended fiber paper and a fissure cream that they make naturally by order which I thought was cool and it works! read more

Horrible bedside manners. I came in for colonoscopy and instead of talking with me, he was busy on his cell phone and it seemed to bother him that I had only one single question. His communication skills were atrocious, lazy. Never got a phone call about the outcome of my colonoscopy. I strongly suggest, if you're looking for a doctor, this guy is not it. Keep looking elsewhere otherwise you will be very disappointed. Maybe he is tired of his work and is ready to retire. Maybe because my insurance didn't line his pocket enough. IDK. I told this simple minded fool that MD Anderson would be taking care of my cancer biopsy in the Anal Rectal area which was done Aug 20. I called his office on the 26th and told them I had the rectal biopsy I needed him to look at my sigmoid colon for Diverticulitis and possible ulcerative colitis that showed up on the CT scan I told the nurse before the surgery i had the biopsy and results I told the anesthesiologist I had the biopsy and the results. Then this jerk come in doesnt even talk to me and by the time i try and explain anything to him im out from propofol This fool on Aug 27th did a biopsy on top of a biopsy which already had results plus he put no packing to absorb any blood or discharge! He took no photos during colonoscopy which is standard practice. This Dr is a menice STAY clear of this Piece of shit read more

Quite simply Dr Tahir saved my life. I was brought to the ER with necrotizing pancreatitis with little chance to survive. He took my case when no one else would and persevered through 14 surgeries until I was in the clear. I lead a full and rewarding life thanks to him. He has incredible knowledge and experience. Do not walk....rather RUN from this "Doctor" as fast as you can. Went to him on the advice of the PCP for evaluation of hemorrhoids. After a painful Proctoscope exam (for which he ridiculed me in front of his underlings for "a grown man crying over a little Proctoscope", he proceeded to tell me that a Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy was required. (I was painful for days following the exam...see why shortly.) He also attested to how little money he makes by displaying the condition of the examining table which was duct taped. After investigating the surgery, it's advantages and drawbacks (higher recurrence rate and potentially long downtime) I decided to get a second opinion. Result? 1) a much more comfortable exam...Tahir skimped on the lube for crying out loud. 2) the Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy was not only NOT recommended, but it was to not considered until the large and obvious Anal Fissue was taken care of first....a condition not mentioned by Tahir at all! When I discussed the first diagnosis with my new doctor, he asked if I would tell him who recommend it...when I told him, his response was, "Yeah, that figures." So, John Q. I went to Dr Tahir on a referral from my GP doctor. I wish I had seen some of the reviews below before my visit. The Dr does ridicule his patients and has a very Casual manner. His office staff is also very casual (nicest way I can put it). After my surgery with Dr Tahir I ended up in the emergency room with complications. At that time a nurse asked me why I chose Dr Tahir as I had many much better options. Also said that they saw many of Dr Tahir's patients in the ER after surgery. When I next visited my GP I told them of my experience and asked them not to recommend Dr Tahir in the future. The GP apologized and said that she did not personally know Dr Tahir but that he was on a list that they had. To top it all off 14 months after my surgery Dr. Tahir's office sent me a bill for services provided a year and a half prior. I called and discussed with them that I thought this was unreasonable and unprofessional to bill me so late. There response was that if I did not pay the bill I would be sent to collections. I don't mean to come off like an ass but the truth is: I'm not quite 50, I don't have hemorrhoids, and I don't need a colonoscopy. "Not yet," said Dr. Tahir. The backstory: Recently I began feeling like I was wiping more than usual after a BM. I researched my concern and hemorrhoids came up. I wanted to reject the notion, because based on GOOGLE images that were returned during my research looked nothing like the external view of my own bum that has a taut sphincter-looking area. I asked my Primary Care Physician for a referral and she lead me to Dr. Tahir. I made an appointment with him immediately because his office initiated the call after I received the referral - and I'm glad that they did. I am a huge procrastinator. My first appointment came quick (7-days after first call) and I immediately went over my story of concern with Dr. Tahir and Dr. Brown. While I was thinking this appointment was going to be THE BEGINNING of something -- Dr. Tahir went straight to the end -- MY BACK END. With a pair of gloves, a lighted scope and me lying on my left side he went in to see... I wasn't sure what he was seeing, until he retreated and laid out the following: I do not have a hemorrhoid's problem, but I do have a very tiny tag on the outside of it my taut sphincter area (aka a normal external hemorrhoid). He mentioned 'the tag is so small that it may take 50-60 years to grow and become a problem.' With that, he threw away his gloves, and remarked that he was melancholy about the result. He was happy there was no issue on the outside or the inside of my backend, but because we got along so well and so quickly -- he wasn't thrilled that I won't be visiting his office again. Maybe the doc is right that I won't be visiting again, too soon; however, I will be 50 one day and I hear that a G.I. Test is usually in order at that age. Perhaps, I'll get to see Dr. Tahir again in the near-enough future. After all, I enjoyed his office staff, his presentation, and his exam table manners. Life can be a pain in backend sometimes. Sincere mindfulness, compassion, and relatable humor more than helps. Dr. Tahir exhibits all; his office is ethics are pleasantly "well rounded." read more

I can speak to the professional aviation and veteran community as well as anyone needing a surgery. I cannot recommend Dr. Tahir and his residents enough! I was able to get a same day appointment (unfortunately I required surgery), but was also able to get surgery the same day! His staff and Dr. Tahir are beyond competent, as well as they truly care about patient comfort, and have a great bed side manner. Dr. Tahir is also a private pilot, and was able to reassure me about my FAA Class 1 medical. Per company policy and the FAR I reported to my AME and Dr. Tahir's information was spot on. I immediately felt better after surgery and even was returned to flight status within 2 weeks of having surgery. To the veterans, way better than the military docs. read more

Very impressed at how professional everyone was and treated me at the clinic. I called to make an appointment and got in that day to see Dr. Tahir. I have been having problems with hemorrhoids for a few years. I recently had a really bad flare up and decided to seek help. Dr. Tahir examined me and knew right away I needed surgery. My appointment with him was at 1:00pm, he asked me when the last time I ate, I told him in the morning around 10am. He scheduled surgery for me later that evening. Having a very sensitive issue, I was researching online to find an appropriate doctor to help. When I came across Tahir Surgical Clinic, I was slightly apprehensive because I read two very negative reviews. However, I needed to be seen urgently, and they were able to get me in the very same day. In addition, they performed the small procedure I needed that same day as well. My poor luck would have it that I developed a small complication several days later (NOT as a result of anything they'd done). They were able to get me back in very quickly once again and treated me with the utmost care and compassion. I don't often leave reviews, but I felt compelled to let people know that Dr. Tahir holds the comfort and wellbeing of his patients as utmost important. I'm so grateful to him. My daughter went to doctor for postpartum problems. She's young and it was embarrassing for her and I was very shocked at the treatment that she got. First of all she was met by a young student who barely spoke English and didn't know what he was doing so here's this man taking care of my daughter making her get undressed in front of him with no one in the room not giving her a drape and then he had to leave the room to get a girl to come in and then they fumbled around and finally found a drape in the whole time my daughter was exposed. She's very sweet and didn't say anything but it was horrifying for her. So she brought her baby with her. So they were trying to help her take care the baby so now they have a girl in the room this young man in the room and then the doctor came in with a second doctor surgeon. So now my daughter has four strangers in the room and they're examining her and she's totally embarrassed and people were passing around Her baby! This was her first appointment and I doubt she's going to go for the second one. After she told me about this I thought it was incredibly unprofessional and I would never want my daughter to go through that again . Now you people do this every day and so it's no big deal to you . you should understand that it's embarrassing and it's a very personal thing especially for a young woman. I had a surgical procedure done and I was quite impressed. I didn't know that it was a teaching clinic. I was impressed with the way Dr. Tahir set back and overseen and instructing the other doctor and stepping in to show the doctor in training an easier way to do certain procedures. And when the doctor left out and the doctor in training started explaining what he was doing to the assistant. After I was stitched up Dr. Tahir came back in to look and make sure that things were done right from beginning to the end. I was very dismayed to see negative reviews written about him all over the internet....whoever wrote those reviews must have an axe to grind. Dr. Tahir does have an "offbeat' sense of humor, so maybe some people just don't 'get him.' I had hernia surgery with Dr Tahir as my surgeon on 11-03-17. I am very pleased with Dr Tahir and his intern Dr. Pam Mc Clouskey They explained everything to me and were very patient and kind. I went for my follow up visit today 11-15-2017 and hugged them both and thanked them for giving me my life back. I had been in much pain and I feel wonderful now. This place is the best. Dr Tahir is the best doctor i have ever dealt with. The assistants are so helpful and polite. It was my first experience with a hemorrhoid and i was in extreme pain. Dr Tahir was able to perform a procedure in his office that fixed my problem.. I needed a follow up appt a few days later for another quick procedure and he fit me in on his normal day off.
