I took my dog here for the first time Last saturday. I thought the environment of the doggie spa was super nice and my dog felt really comfortable there. I have a mini aussie dog that has a weird fear of men. I let the shop know about his fear but he is a really sweet and loving dog. We then talked about a cut for him. I really just wanted to his butt area trimmed down a lot, his underbelly trimmed down, his toes and feathers on his arms. We then discussed taking a little off the top which i said hesistantly okay. When I got him after his beauty time, not only did it look really short, and puppy like but he was a very happy dog!! I am not going to point fingers on the shortness, i agreed to it before knowing what it would look like which i do not regret but hair grows, so i am not so bummed, i know for next time. But I do not think it was worth a $80 doggie hair cut. I dont even pay that much for own hair. I was quoted $40 and I would honestly think it would be around $60 with that kind of cut. I found the price outrageous a bit. The women he normally sees would charge me $45 with the cut, which is more reasonable. Would I give my business back to this place? Maybe if i was desperate and needed my dogs hair cut again,knowing they are a loving place and really nice people whom listen. They are really a nice shop if you have the dough. read more

I have two dogs, one little Shitzpoo mix, and one Aussie, and Coco does a beautiful job on each dog! The Aussie, especially, is no easy task to groom, and she does an amazing job on her thick coat. I highly recommend their grooming services. read more

I just had my standard poodle groomed here for the first time today, and they did a great job. It's always hard to get it the way you want the first time you go to a new place, but they listened carefully to my requests, did a good job meeting them, and then, putting up with my pestering, spent a considerable amount of additional time fine-tuning the cut to my exacting preferences, with patience and good humor. Great pet groomers. I have a 6 month old Malti-Poo who has now been here twice and it has been a great experience both times. The first time he was nervous but the groomer did a great job in calming him down and getting to business on his haircut. He came out looking beautiful where they did an amazing job cutting around his eyes (he tears easily) and his butt. (no more poo getting stuck there!) The second time was much better where he was so calm and relax. Great place to bring your dogs especially if you want someone who is very detailed oriented and excellent with animals! read more

Our dog Bunny is comfortable at Tails-a-go-go, and she was not happy at other groomers nor even the groomer that would make house calls. These folks have a way with small, frightened dogs. And the cut and care is very good as well. I highly recommend this shop. read more

I am surprised to read the review from the person below as my experience was very different. I brought in my two dogs-one was definitely LONG overdue for a cut and he was sort of matted. I told them from the get go that it might be the case. They did not make a stink out of it nor did they charge me extra. They were very kind and obviously LOVE dogs. I love that this place is clean too--I know it must be hard to keep a dog grooming shop clean. My only little tiny beef is that the male groomer who walked the dogs out stunk badly like cigarettes .I was worried my pooches would smell like cigs too especially since my daughter has horrible asthma. However the dogs smelled delicious and had bows in their hair and seemed quite pleased with themselves.. 5 stars! read more

I have two largish dogs that are now groomed here. No more petco for me! My retriever mix comes out happy, clean and smelling good. I bring my pit bull for nail trimming and they are happy to do her as a walk in. Most importantly, I trust they will take care of my dog and not be overly rough. Petco used to insist that they put a muzzle on my 13 year old retriever x and then charged me for it for "handling" which is when I realized the groomers are not very "dog" knowledgeable. My Luccia has never bitten nor will she ever. And, I felt the muzzle stressed her out at this ripe age, having never needed to wear one before. The plus, is that the receptionist at Tails is super nice and has the people skills they need to handle the customers. She is a rescuer and loves dogs. Loved getting my dog groomed at Tails A Go-Go. They were gentle with my dog (a large, 85-lb. rottweiler mix) and did a great job with her at a very reasonable price. OMG I've read the 1 star reviews and am very disappointed in these people who don't understand there is a waiting list to get your pets groomed here and I know for a fact with my wonderful experience with my German Shepard Heidi they did the most fantastic grooming. Heidi is 80 lbs almost as much as the groomers themselves, so I hardly believe the reviews I read, but the good news is maybe this will open up 2 appointments for someone on the waiting list who will appreciate an excellent choice to bring there pets for a great grooming experience. Oh and I don't believe the dog knows he looks bad I believe he loves his look and much cooler with less hair. read more

LOVE this place! I have two large dogs (~70 lbs.) One needs hair cuts, the other is a short hair and just needs basic grooming. Went here for the first time because it was close to home and a local business. Wow, was I impressed! Easy to schedule, reasonable cost and an accurate time estimate on how long they will be. My dogs are mutts, and I don't go for the fancy cuts, painted nails or color; but my dogs and I are treated like royalty nonetheless. Great customer service and my dogs tails start wagging when we get close. That never happened with a groomer before. When I pick them up they are clean and happy. Highest recommendation. I hardly recognized my pooch (Pomeranian), she was so silky and fluffy. They expertly took two big mats out from behind her ears without leaving any bare/thin spot. They also did a sanitary trim that is effective and yet looks like her natural fur growth. I am so pleased! read more

I recently went to tails ago go for a flea treatment and groom. Alex the lady at the front desk had her PITBULL off leash and and staring at/ intimidating my dog from upstairs.This was his first time there and I was leaving him in a strange place. So to say he was anxious is an understatement My dog was on leash and in her control when she let her dog down and got in my dogs face as soon as I walked out the door. My dog is very good with others but at times can be leash reactive with dogs when they are off leash. Any dog person knows dogs do this. Any way my dog bit her dog. Very small barley noticeable puncture. She then tells me I need to take her dog to the vet. I say I'm not 100% responsible, but I will split costs. She never called me back with any vet bill. But reports my dog to the city and is causing a bunch of unneeded headache. My suggestion to the owners is to make their employees have their dogs on leash or kept upstairs with a gate so this doesn't happen in the future. The person who washed the dog did a great job so it's unfortunate I won't be able to use this Business again. Alex obviously is not keen to the ways of dogs and should look into another receptionist job. Thanks a lot lady read more

I don't know what happened to this place. Been coming here for years but my Husky's past few visits have been awful. Once she wasn't even trimmed - just washed and dried for $110. When my husband brought her back for a "re-trim" Coco the owner yelled at him. Time before last, my dog was there from 11:00am to close to 7:00pm when in the past she used to be done by 3:00. Today was the last straw. Not only was she there for 7 hours but they gave her a severe puppy cut which I didn't ask for. Her fur is so shorn that you could see her pink skin. My dog plays hard and my fear is that she doesn't have enough hair to keep her protected. I have expressed these concerns with Coco, but I feel like they've been invalidated, glossed over and excuses have been made every time. I think that she should own up to their missteps and apologize for them rather than make you feel like you're to blame and not a valued customer. read more

I love this place! My dog gets really nervous and starts to shake when I drop him off at the groomer. The first time I took my dog here, one of the staff members came out from behind the counter, crouched down and tried to calm him down by hugging him and talking to him. You don't get the feeling that they're just running a business; they really seem to care about the dogs and the work that they do. Coco does a great job on my dog and is very professional. Today, she squeezed us in even though she had a full schedule so my dog could get a trim to beat the current heat wave. I'm so happy to have found this wonderful cat groomer!! They were fantastic with two of my Persian cats -- one received a lion cut and the other a longer comb cut. I immediately sensed that the proprietors had a great rapport with animals and could see the calming influence they had on the cats when they picked them up from inside the cat carrier. Amazingly enough, both cats acted like they really enjoyed their time there! The personnel are very friendly to people too and very artful with the grooming! The kitties look amazing!! I am delighted with the services that Coco and Alex provide to my two dogs Sadie and Coco. The place is clean and the dogs are safe in the room where they are groomed. The are realistic about the time it will take, offer fair pricing for the grooming serivces and my dogs are always clean! They trim my dogs coats and they grow in beautifully. Coco is a true professional at her job! And additionally she is truly liked by the girls! The ony challenge here is parking on lower Solano, although I am usually able to get a space within a block or two of the salon! We've tried four other groomers in the East Bay and Tails A Go-Go is our favorite by far. Our dog was very afraid of other groomers, but she tolerates, and maybe even likes, going to Tails A Go-Go. For me, I like that they keep our dog only for a few hours (usually just two) as opposed to other places where she would be gone for extended stretches of time, sometimes 4-6 hours. Also, the quality of the haircuts has been consistently great. Even when I've dropped my dog off with matting, she comes home looking sharp. I highly recommend Tails A Go Go. read more

OK, my dog did not get her nails cut or groomed here, but...it's not their fault. I have a Jindo who decides when SHE is willing to let someone touch her. If you are not part of her pack, forgettaboutit. The staff here tried SO hard to get my dog to like them, they got on the floor and fed her treats, gently touched her paws for a few seconds, etc. They tried for 20 minutes when I finally called it. I will have to wash my dog myself and get up the nerve to cut her nails myself, or walk her on cement more. Anyway, I just wanted to share how wonderful they were with my highly recalcitrant dog ( letting us come in before they opened so other dogs weren't around). If I had a dog that would allow grooming, this would be the place I'd go for sure! read more

My shih tzu's normal groomer was out of town and she needed to be groomed ASAP, she had bangs and couldn't see and was doin the butt scoot so I started calling around the bay area for a neighborhood groomer. Ended up calling a few places and Tails A Go-Go and I swore I was quoted $65 on the phone (more than I'm used to but we were desperate). The receptionist was very nice on the phone and ironically all of the Yelp reviews were positive so out of all the places I called, I picked them. We were greeted warmly by our first names when we arrived and it seemed nice and clean. Before I left, I asked, I believe it was $65? And she said, "Oh no, it's $70 for their breed. Um, WTH? Again, desperate, we were going out of town and needed her groomed so fine. Not happy, but we were there already. Went to lunch and got a call around 2:15 that she was ready to be picked up. Got there at 2:30 (I had to pick up my kids at 2:45 so was in a rush) and she didn't look much different. Granted she smelled better, her bangs were a tad shorter but not as short as I am used to and a week later, they were back to covering her eyes. The worse part was NOW IT WAS $75!!!! I asked why and she said, "She didn't like her nails cut so 2 people had to do it so that is extra." Um, the other groomer works alone and I have never heard of such a reason for a price increase. Now I see another person paid $35 for her 10 pound dog. Mine is 12 pounds and did not get shaved down or anything out of the ordinary where I would understand the price. So in a nutshell, first and last time there. Spent $75 ($10 more than I was quoted) and 2 weeks later have to get her groomed again. Not cool, peeps, not cool. Lesson learned on my side too. Stick with what you know and works. read more

I tried 3 times to make this place work, but keeps falling short. I have yet to meet and talk to the groomer. They're quite busy and the lady at the front desk is very nice and friendly. But each time I've requested for my poodle to not get a traditional poodle cut, I keep picking up my poodle with either poofy head or tail or long ears. The main reason why I'm writing this is because within a week after each grooming session I end up needing to take my poodle to the vet. She keeps getting cuts on the head or leg (which isn't uncommon with poodle grooming), but they end up being infected. I've spent hundreds of dollars on vet bills because they think there's something wrong with her so they want more blood work. But I've notice this happens shortly after a grooming session. It may be coincidence (3 times in a row), but I can't afford to continue taking my dog here due to the vet visits that follow. read more
