We got takeout and enjoyed the Sweet Potato Sushi Roll, Capital Chicken with Fried Rice, and Chicken Egg Rolls. The sweet potato is tempura fried and the sushi is rolled fresh to order. Capital Chicken... yes, there is an even more American way to order General Tso's... this guarantees white meat chicken and removes the hot peppers from the sauce. Chicken Egg Rolls should be a standard. Let's face it little red chunks of "pork" is no way to live... chicken is such a better option. The takeout ordering is always smooth whether you do it online or call it in. You'll walk in and it will always be ready on time. The place has such a vibe. From the reddish pink neon light trim to the simplistic shotgun setting of booths. Sometimes you'll catch the destringing string beans or trimming green beans on a back table too. Call it nostalgia. My tween daughter and I were out for an afternoon of shopping and decided to stop here for lunch. For a suburban strip mall, I was surprised to walk in and see such an aesthetic vibe. It was also packed so we had high expectations as we sat down to eat. The menu is a mix of American Chinese and Japanese, and offers a lunch special M-Sat. My daughter ordered the General Tsos with white meat and I ordered the sushi roll special, one salmon roll and one tuna roll. Both lunch specials were served with a soup - wonton for her and miso for me - and mine also came with a salad. We also ordered the fried pork dumplings as a starter. Overall, the food was pretty decent. The pork dumplings were large and juicy, and the 6 piece serving was generous for the price. My daughter loved her general Tso's, while I thought the sushi was just ok. In particular, the tuna was a little tough and bland, but solved with a little extra wasabi in my soy sauce. Overall, prices were very reasonable and service was friendly and efficient even though it was a crowded Saturday afternoon! Not a bad place to stop if you're out shopping. read more

I've been going to Taipei Tokyo since high school, so it holds a special place in my heart. This was the place where I tried sushi for the first time. Besides the nostalgia, Taipei Tokyo always feels homey and cozy to me. I normally will get takeout from Asian restaurants, but this is one where I typically dine in when I visit. They have a very expensive menu- there is Chinese and Japanese food. I recently met my friend here for dinner on a Friday night. Even though the place was pretty busy, we were able to be seated right away. The service is good- efficient without being too overbearing. We ordered some tea and sushi. It was so below average it deserved 2 stars. Pros: not many. 30 years ago this place was called King Wu and their General Tso Chicken was legendary. Today? It is half-decent. Service was good. Cons: wonton soup was so bland, no scallions, just beef broth and tasteless dumplings. Kung Pao was also tasteless and had zero heat. Server could have talked to us more and known it was a special occasion for us being there. Only complaints were as you got water refills you had room temperature water.
