They finally reopened their dine in. However, there are some changes. They changed to a deli style eating. As in, you order at the counter and pay and then sit down and toss everything yourself at the end. They have also remodeled and have a clean and fresh look. The food is still the same and delicious.

Without a doubt this was some of the best Chinese food I've had in the 'Burgh. I ordered the shrimp lo mein which was delicious but not even the best thing I ordered. I ended up pouring the chili sauce from my dumplings into my lo mein. And oh my...! Those dumplings were FIRE! I relished every.single. one. and then got a little sad when I realized that I had eaten them all. I also ordered wonton soup which was delicious! The flavoring in the broth was just right and this can be hard to find. Takeout seemed to be the most popular option. When I walked to pick up my order, the dining room was nice, clean and empty. However, there was a person waiting on their food, one who in came right after me and multiple bags sitting on the counter waiting to be claimed. When I visit my parents, I will definitely order from here!

Just recalled why it's been 6 years since I've been here. The food is just meh. If your hungry and just looking for a place to eat and move on with your day, this is it. If you're not into full flavor. This place is for you. The vegetable spring roll was nice size. Wish they would have granted my wish as I asked under the order for FRESH mustard and not the Play Doh looking packet! Vegetable udon dish was 99% noodles. Figured with ordering "vegetable" udon I'd get more vegetables beings I'm not getting a protein in the dish. My 17 year olds Pad Thai was so dry he ate 1/3 of it (see picture). It'll be forever til I'm back again or when I am in the same predicament as tonight, driving home from work and need to just get dinner "over with". $35 on blah food. Oh and got charged a convenience fee???? It's take out only! How is this a convenience?!?!

Went to try the "amazing sushi" we heard about. Typically, my wife and I order a LOT of sushi, especially our favorite, good old, basic tuna maki rolls. Upon ordering, we were told we could not order maki rolls after lunch, despite nothing being said in the menu (see photo) and being able to order sushi and sashimi a la carte. I've never experienced this ANYWHERE. We settled on splitting a sushi "entree," with a few extra pieces. Our entree came with, you guessed it, a tuna maki roll. The sushi was fair for Pittsburgh, but the inability to just order what we wanted put me off. I would have left, but my wife really wanted some sushi... And there we were. I logged on online, if we wanted takeout, guess what we could order.... You got it. Maki rolls. I guess in the end, the waitress saved us money, since our total was about half of what we usually spend. Advice: Fix your web site and menu to match your policy, or fix your staff. Something's broken.

Sushi heaven!! Quick service, kind employees, great food. This little restaurant is a great place to go if you are craving sushi at a great price. The sushi is fresh and comes out quick. I love how they even give you a little appetizer when you sit down. I'm not sure what it's called though but I've never had it at a sushi restaurant before. I got some basic rolls. I went with the Alaskan, Boston, and spicy California. They were all very good. The restaurant is confidently located in a strip mall so there is a lot of parking. If you go on a weeknight, you will definitely have no wait. We went in and got seated immediately. There were many people that came in to get takeout so that seems like a popular option as well. Overall I definitely recommend coming to Azan Wok. Some of the best sushi I've had in the city.

It is hard to find anything wrong with this Resturant , at least during lunch. My benchmark, hot and Sour soup, was Excellent. When I first tasted it I noticed it was thinner than most, but, it only enhanced the flavor. I had Szechuan Chicken, fried rice and an egg roll. All full of flavor and looked good. (See pic). The Resturant was decorated with umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and neat looking lights above your table . Very inviting !

I've been generally impressed by the quality of the sushi. We ordered takeout this time, and everything was extremely well packaged and presented. In terms of the food, we focussed on fairly standard maki rolls: a spicy salmon roll and a spicy California roll. Both were very nicely done. We also tried the veg farm roll, and that was a nice vegetable forward option. Not life changing, but nicely done. We also opted for a vegetable poke bowl, and that was also good. Basically the same combination of vegetables as the veg farm roll, but in a bowl format. The bowl was good, but it was lacking some sort of sauce or glaze that might have pulled things together. It was easy enough to toss on some condiments of our own, but the bowl could have been better. Overall, I this is my favorite sushi destination in Squirrel Hill. It's very clear that the owners are invested in turning out a high quality experience, and that's exactly the type of business I like to support.

Their selection of appetizers were great, and the quality of each was stellar. We attempted to try quite a few of them, and still have many we want to try. In our group, the tofu with an amazing dashi broth, the crab puffs, "sexy jalepenos", tempura kani, and the gyoza were the standouts. As I stated, though...everything we had was awesome. We all ordered a different ramen, and then shared. They were all phenomenal. The steak teriyaki was also great. Sushi wise, we didn't get to try as many as we had hoped. We were too busy reordering the appetizers. We did try the Crazy Mango roll, and ended up reordering that because it was so good. My kids were with me, and they love all things Mango, and this was phenomenal. For dessert, we had a few orders (and reorders!) of the fried bananas. Overall, I cannot speak higher of our experience. It is very clean, well kept up on, and the service was phenomenal. Quality wise, you can tell how much effort they put into the place purely on their presentation. I had to remark many times about how utterly beautiful some of their dishes were. This was not like our other AYCE experiences where they just rush food out to you. They actually put effort into their craft here, and it is quite obvious. We will definitely be back, and look forward to trying new things that we didn't get to before!

My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. It feels like a solid, filling meal with enough variety to make it satisfying. The only downside with my most recent takeout order was the sauce placed in the middle of the container. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container.

SO GOOD. Prices are steep but expected for location and quality of food…read more We went for my husband's birthday and sat at the bar downstairs, overlooking the gorgeous view of the city. It was shockingly not busy until about 630pm and they open at 4. There is no valet, just street parking. They provided complimentary edamame which had a great little spicy kick. I ordered the sour, the yuzu gave it a nice fresh citrus taste. My husband had a scotch and Coke. We decided to order the experience which began with a tartar (salmon, tuna and yellowtail on a bed of tuna). Amazing. We then had a two piece sashimi with jalapeño and crispy potato in a sauce that was similar to Italian dressing. This was our favorite of the entire night. Next was a shrimp tasting. It had shaved cucumber and seaweed in a light brown sauce, perhaps a mirin. It was okay, like a cold miso. We then had a dish I had only seen videos of called Chawanmushi. It was like an eggy flan served hot. My husband was not a fan but I was. Then was the first nigiri which the bartender was kind enough to split for us. It included 4 light pieces of sushi. After that there was a cold infused tomato palate cleanser and the second nigiri with "darker" fish. It was all delicious. After that was a fatty tuna hand roll (like a sushi taco) which was amazing as well. And last for the savory items, a soft shell crab which was very, very good. The yellow sauce tasted like the yellow of a potato salad with tastes that mimicked mayo, mustard and pickles. We ordered another round of drinks and I had a dirty martini which they called The New 32. The last item is the red bean dessert but we opted to order more food and had the Treasure Box ($78) which had 9 different sashimis. There were a few repeats from the experience portion but we were happy to have the first sashimi item again. And last, we had the red bean dessert as well as a complimentary tiramisu dessert for the husband's birthday. The bill was just over $300 which was expected for the location, amount of food and overall quality and experience.

The restaurant is located right on Mt Washington, giving a good view of the city. The interior looks appropriate for a sushi restaurant, but due to the massive windows lacked the darker vibe of other upscale restaurants. I've been to hundreds of sushi spots and the interior was merely average. Otaru seems to struggle with its identity. It needs to either commit to being an upscale restaurant or relax and simply be a quality one. The wait staff were kind and prompt, but at times appeared they may be less experienced. We were brought hot (paper) towels and edamame. We ordered the fried tako balls as an app. I personally don't prefer tako and found it very dense and chewy and the overall flavors were too undeveloped. The hand rolls were well filled and were easy to eat due to being more of a taco configuration than a true hand roll. The nori was not too tough, lending to a pleasant experience. The nigiri and sashimi were also good. The nigiri were good, but not as elevated as another upscale sushi spot in the city. They were still very good, but not quite excellent. They either need a bit more development or to be relaxed and served as two per order and the price adjusted slightly upward. If you take one thing from this review, let it be this. The yellowtail jalepeno cups were astonishing. By far this was the most well executed dish I have ever eaten and the best sushi dish I've had. They appear to be wrapped in toasted sesame seed wrappers. If you've had Hapi mixed crackers they give the same great flavor of the "fried chicken" pieces but with yuzu vinaigrette and the umami of the fish. I will certainly be back solely because of how good they were.
