    Mango Lassi
    Omar M.

I've got two words for you: Mango Lassi! This place is great, but I loved their mango lassi, it was so delicious I had to have two! LOL! The staff was friendly and professional and the food is great. My favorite is the Butter Chicken, I'll admit, I go with the mild. I also really like their coconut chicken. As a starter you definitely need to try some of their samosas, they're very good and well spiced. They also have great naan, my two favorite are the garlic naan and the cheese naan. My wife and I enjoy going to the restaurant and enjoying our meal there. The ambiance is chill, the staff is always super friendly. But we occasionally also order through the food delivery app when we've got to have our fix of Indian cuisine. If you're looking for a good Indian spot, Taj Cafe is the place to go!

Lunch special for $16.99. Chicken Tikka Masala--nice flavor. Mild was spicy enough for me. Veggie Pakora had a little kick as well and it was crunchy and good. Naan was delicious. Great bargain for lunch.

Taj Cafe is brand new in town with their grand opening a few days ago on May 1st. The menu is extensive with all your Indian favorites from appetizers, vegetarian specialties, chicken, lamb, seafood, tandoor, noodles, rice, naan & desserts. There is something for everyone's taste buds including choosing your spice level (5 levels) so you can get your perfect taste! We went with level 2 mild to medium and it was perfect for us. We started with the veggie momo 's which was oh-so-fresh! Soft wrapper held chopped up veggies inside with the delicious dipping sauce! It was a bit of a wait for these fresh momo 's to come out but trust me, its worth the wait! Next up was the chicken tandoori on the sizzling platter right out the oven! Steaming & full of flavor inside & out! Lastly, all the curries came out with the garlic naan and rice. We ordered the shrimp masala, veggie korma, and chicken tikka masala. These dishes have spice, rich and vibrant with flavors! All dishes are served family style. They also have lunch specials going on for $12.99. With DoorDash, grubhub & ubereats, it's easy to get a taste of Taj Cafe! Keep it up!

Our fiat time trying this new Indian restaurant. In a little strip mall close to our home. It was previously a Chinese restaurant. The owner was there and said they have not yet had a grand opening, that they had opened a month prior. The interior is improved quite a bit from the previous decor, gone is the slimy fish tank, replaced by updated booths and tables. The owner indicated he had previously owned the Cumin restaurant on the other side of town by the Flamingo, which we really enjoyed. We went with the a meat special, I got chicken tikka masala and my wife got the shrimp masala, I got the medium spice, she got the mild to medium spice. Both were very delicious, but agreed the medium spice would have been good for both dishes, additionally the special came with basmati rice and a tandoori chicken ( which is really a 3rd entree. The basmati rice was different than what I am used to, but I believe they have the regular basmati. Additionally we went with plain naan. The tikka masala was delicious with the perfect amount of spice and I would definitely come back for that. The owner was very friendly;y and provided a lot of answers to our questions. Nice to have an Indian restaurant on our side of town.

Wonderful food! We got the pakora, lamb biryani, and chicken saag. Their rice was well cooked and separated and everything had great flavor. The owner was so nice too! Would come back for sure!

Paneer Dosa (10/5 stars) - it is perfect in every way, the dosa was perfectly crunchy and soft, the panner filling mix was so flavorful and perfectly seasoned, the soup was super hot but delicious and hearty, the chutneys went so well with the dosa Overall, this is going to be my go to mall food.

Thinking of Mediterranean or Indian, Yelp! offered Himalayan Momo & Kebob ... just a few minutes away from Rohnert Park. As a food court choice among 8 others, I was reasonably satisfied with my "Regular Plate.". Rice, chickpea curry, chicken tikka kebob, and naan for a little less than $14. The chicken tikka was an excellent choice. The piece of chicken was cut into cubes and crisped in a frying pan -- very flavorful with just a touch of "heat". The rest of the meal was passable for mall food. The turmeric-colored basmati rice was a bit off the mark for Indian rice ... it had a few bits of cumin, but definitely lacked the cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon I spice my rice with, and sauteed onions were completely missing in action. The portion was almost 1.5 cups. The chickpea curry was a good choice, but if I had to guess, I'm pretty sure the chickpeas came out of a can. The portion was on the small side ... about 1/3 cup. The warm, foil-wrapped naan was tasty, albeit a little chewy, but understandable since the mall/food court wasn't busy for a Thursday close to 6 pm. I almost ordered a side of raita, but I turned down a 3-oz portion cup at $2.99. Good thing! The server gave me a 1-oz portion as a sample, and it was the saddest excuse for raita. It was so watery that it wouldn't even cling to a piece of chicken tikka. I couldn't give 3.5-stars, which is what I would actually rate my meal, but I didn't want to shortchange them either by giving only a 3-star review. Would I return? If I lived in the area, probably. There are a couple of other good choices in the food court that I would try first.

Chicken tika masala - tandoori roasted chicken simmered in a mild creamy sauce. Our sweet server (owner?) mentioned that about 95% of the people love this dish and I am definitely in that group. Wonderful flavors and generous amount of tender chicken. Tofu, kale & potato curry - ingredients all simmered with basil and coconut milk. Very flavorful and seemed healthy. My husband would definitely order again. Our server was friendly, caring and was always smiling. Two servers were handling the entire dining room plus the outdoor diners and they were seamless in their efforts. Our server had recommended the tika masala to me and she was curious what I thought of it. I would order it again tomorrow! The interior is decorated comfortably. Inside the restaurant there is a calming feeling as they were playing slow Hindu chanting music low on their sound system. The first server We began with was very young and maybe learning the menu still as he was really not that good at answering questions on the menu. As soon as we checked in on Yelp, suddenly service picked up. Another more experienced server brought us first, hand towels to wipe out hands (a nice touch, but the towels were almost cold when he brought them, was it an after thought?); and he also brought us complimentary cups of dal that were very tasty. The dishes we got were saag lamb, butter chicken, and organic channa masala, and garlic buttered Naan. Had our first server known how to describe menu better we may have chosen a few different items. He did recommend the butter chicken as one of his favorite so that's why we got it as we often enjoy it other places as well. It was very good, a classic with great sauce, probably the favorite dish. The saag lamb was good too, but we almost got the patak lamb, similar sounding dish but maybe creamier/ other veggie too? But our first server could not really describe difference well. I'm thinking we may have enjoyed the other dish better than saag lamb which was good, but felt the spinach was extremely over cooked, and so finely chopped almost like it was highly minced or powdered? But it was flavorful. The Channa Masala was on the dry side. We we're trying to decide on a saucy vegetable dish and we asked about this dish because we liked that it said organic. That same first server said it was saucy, but not that saucy. Each dish comes with your choice of white or brown rice, or steamed veggies. Two dishes we got brown rice with, and the third we got steamed veggies because we thought there would be more sauce overall to add them too. The rice was allot ( took quite a bit home); the veggies were this nice mix, but so boring with no taste, and what a waste. The veggies even had water floating in bottom of dish. It would be so much nicer if there were an option to have these lightly stirfried with a little flavor as an option ( they were completely bland) , and there was really not enough saucy stuff to add them to so only partially eaten, left remaining there on table instead of taking home with other stuff. We asked for a sample of their side sauces and we got a tiny (like a tablespoon each?) 3 dish sampling of their very tasty homemade mango sauce, tart and tangy cilantro mint sauce, and some sweeter tamarind sauce. But they were very tiny amounts. The Naan was light and crisp, very nice, but could barely taste garlic butter. We asked for our dishes to be medium heat and it was fairly mild for us still, but i guess with American palate, spicy can be relative. But oh well. We also had cups of chai (under $5.00) that had refills, and a glass of house white wine ( Murphy good Sauvignon Blanc was only $8.00 so that was a deal). I'm giving 4 stars for their efforts, but hope they read this so they can improve a few things.
