Chicken Paneer Tikka Masala
Gustavo G.

Wow, wow, wow! If you like India food this is the place to go. Food was amazing. We had the family meal. It would easily feed four. It comes with two curries, rice and 3 naan bread. We chose tikka masala and coconut curry. They were the two recommended as most popular. Both were very good. I preferred the coconut one. We ordered medium spicy but the food wasn't really spicy. We ordered the chili garlic naan and it was delicious though a bit spicy. Definitely will order again. I also ordered the samosas, as these are always my favorite. They didn't disappoint. The mango lasi was so good. Service was quick. It is fast casual where you order at the counter and sit down. The food is brought to the table. We went on a Sunday and it was not busy. Just three groups in an hour.

Taj Chaat House in Simi Valley, is a good stop, if you are in the mood for Chaat (savory snacks that are part of Indian street food). This time, I got the Dahi Bhalle (chilled lentil dumplings soaked in yoghurt and topped with chutneys and spices) to go. Another name for this would be Dahi Vada. The balance of red (tamarind) and green (mint) chutneys was well crafted and there were also cubes of boiled potatoes. The yoghurt though flavorful, lacked body and creaminess. The dumplings themselves lacked freshness and texture. Literally falling apart, when you spoon them out to eat. I have had their Papari Chaat, in the past, as a dine in item and that concoction, on all levels, was superb. If only the Dahi Bhalle, could have matched the impact of that dish.

Lamb Biryani with Raita. Order spicy if you're feeling bold. Order extra Raita if you can't handle spice.

I came in on a quiet evening and was surprised there weren't more customers there. The decor is modern and classy and yet the food tastes like something made at home. 10/10 on the Lamb Biryani.

Inside was clean and big; felt a bit like a cafeteria. The lady at the counter (you order and then sit for them to bring it to you) was very helpful when she found out this was our first time. Food was good. I missed the char on the naan which adds more flavor. Everything was fine. Could be better, could be worse. It was almost forgetable. The only thing I was blown away on was the fish and mango Lassi. The fish was SUPER flavorful (if a tiny bit salty) and just about cooked to perfection (small pieces were slightly overcooked). The mango lassi was strong in the mango flavor and so creamy. Might have been the best I've had. If everything were as incredible as the fish and lassi had been, it would have been 5 stars and I wouldn't think their prices were on the high side (everything comes a la carte). Will definitely be back for the fish and drink alone if not to try more items.

In a town full of chain restaurants, it's nice to have some diversity! This restaurant has been open for approximately 1.5 months! The restaurant location use to be a biker bar! Now it clean refreshed causal Indian restaurant! We enjoyed our food: quite a menu from snacks to appetizers to desserts! Something for everybody! We had samosa, paneer and lamb. To complement our meal, I had mango lassi! The mango lassi was amazing: so rich and yummy! We look forward to coming back and trying more items in the menu!

Whether or not the staff approved, is hard to say. While we were checked on regularly, and glasses refilled a couple of times, there was a sense of, 'ok, you've paid, move along', even though the entire time we were there the steady stream was to-go orders and only 2 other tables out of 10? 15? ever had occupants. That aside, we ordered our dishes and they were delicious. If we were more focused on eating, instead of conversing, we would have finished them easily. I tried the chicken curry, mild, and it had just enough "kick" to satisfy. My friend had the Chana Masala, also mild, and said that and the naan were very good. I understand the real draw here is the lunch buffet, which my friend really enjoys. Apparently, that was the first time I was here, but I don't remember over a year ago and no dishes posted then. I must have devoured everything too fast! They close for a bit after they finish the lunch buffet and on a Friday night they reopened for dinner at 5pm, so be sure to check hours before making plans. The decor is quite nice and has a soft ambiance. The young lady taking care of us was polite and efficient. I'm sure the next time I'll be back for the buffet and def get more pics. Cheers! "CC"

Nearly twelve years later, and Karma still has no equal…read more We visited the buffet recently and it was, as always, a genuinely lovely experience. The vegan options were plentiful -- and more importantly, they were exceptional. The flavors were bold and intentional, layered in a way that reminds you why you fell in love with Indian cuisine in the first place. I say this with fresh context: we've recently tried a couple of other Indian restaurants in the area, hoping to find something worth revisiting. One served a Dal so overspiced it was nearly inedible. Another offered a Tikka Masala so bland it barely registered. Neither experience was terrible -- but both served as a reminder of just how high Karma's bar actually is. In all my years coming here, I have never once been disappointed. Not once. The kitchen cooks with something that's hard to put into words -- a care and intentionality that comes through in every dish. You taste it. My 2014 review said the food was prepared with good heart and spirit, and that remains as true today as it was then. If you're vegan, or just someone who wants Indian food done right, this is your place. It always has been.

I'm so happy to have found this place in close proximity to my house and will be back atleast once a week! Oh and let's not forget the inside of the place, it was very clean and quiet just how I like it. The two gentleman there were very helpful and kind. All around 10/10 I WILL be back! Oh and for all of those saying it's expensive, if you compare to other restaurants in the area it's literally like a dollar difference. You pay for what you get, don't expect to go out to eat in california and not pay for it. Even if they are too expensive for you, it's simple just don't order from them. But don't go leaving a 1 star reviews, these people don't deserve nothing less than 4 stars. You can tell they put love and care into their restaurant.

I even called ahead and a woman confirmed all meats were halal, although I called three different numbers they have listed, two were out of service. When we got there, it wasn't busy, but there was no halal signage anywhere. Ordering is done through kiosks with instructions kiosks order only. We placed a large order (6 items + drinks) totaling $127.57 at 7:01 PM (Ticket #KK25). Confusion started immediately: -Had to ask if we grab our own drinks (yes... but not stated anywhere) -Friends from the masjid came in and the kiosk lost Wi-Fi while they were ordering -No staff guidance at all After about 30 minutes, we saw a customer return food because it was too spicy. That should've been our warning. When our food came, it was all in cheap takeout containers with paper plates and plastic utensils, it was difficult to pry the containers open, while trying not to get the curries on you, not what you expect dining in at that price. Food was very disappointing: -Butter Chicken didn't taste like butter chicken at all -Haleem was overly spicy and not the usual soupy consistency -Mutton Curry was extremely spicy, and my first bite was all fat, skimped on the meat -One dish had a boiled egg that was so salty it was inedible -No spice level options on the kiosk We were also missing our Tandoori Chicken. While waiting: -Our friends were missing items too -Another customer (Ticket #KK27) came in upset after waiting 45+ minutes with no food and asked for money back -Kitchen looked completely disorganized We finally got our missing item after nearly an hour. I told the server and got a simple "sorry." As someone who is Indian from the Caribbean, I can handle spice, but this was just unbalanced. Even the earlier customer complaining was right. No hospitality, no friendliness, poor food, and a chaotic system. I told my wife at that point I didn't even care if we threw everything away and left. First and last time.

There are a plethora of restaurants in both the SFV and the Lost Angeles area, mainly centered around Northern cuisine. They serve a lunch buffet (11 am to 3 pm) daily, 7 days a week, that is unmatched, anywhere in these environs. It now runs at $14.99 plus tax, very reasonable, I might add, with a delicious selection of mouthwatering dishes. Recently, I found dahi vada (deep fried lentil donuts soaked in yoghurt and topped with chutneys and spices) as one of the selections (never seen that in any Indian buffet). It is one of my favorite Indian appetizers. And that too, it was superbly prepared. Their goat curry with aromatic brown gravy, goes well with the included freshly prepared naan (I chose the garlic version). There is chicken biriyani, pappar (fire roasted lentil and pepper wafers), yellow lentils (their version is fantastic), Saag (spinach) and aloo gobi (cauliflower and potatoes), to name a few. Chili chicken was okay, but the tandoori chicken came out dry, for both my pieces. Either way, this is not a knock down of this place. Overall, their Indian buffet food is the best in the Valley.
