Basic restaurant set up. What is important was the cleanliness around the buffet that was well maintained. Daily Lunch Buffet: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. New India Palace Indian has a panoply of appetizers, savories, chutneys, desserts where you go up and serve yourself. Where else can one get so much variety? They even had Papadum, fried, thin, crispy lentil flour crêpes. The braised goat, and chile chicken particularly had a satisfying meaty Umami, and subtle spicing while pairing a green, finely minced cilantro-chile chutney added a touch of piquant, green herbals and refreshed the palate. Is it okay to get excited over Indian lunch buffets? And at a price point of nearly $13? Common sense says in this economy not to expect too much, but... taking those first steps and first bites? I'd want that experience again. Parking here is fairly difficult since it's a small plaza, but parking can easily be found on neighboring streets within a minute's walk (maybe feels like 3 in this heat wave, though). There was some miscommunication in seating (which was pretty cramped), and after picking a spot, the buffet experience begins. There are a variety of chicken and selection of garlic vs regular naan. The taste of everything here for this price point... was definitely worth every dollar, although I will say one chicken left me uneasy since it was a bit red / bloody / felt undercooked. The staff that worked here consistently checked in and refilled water. I almost even ordered a drink, but I'm thankful I didn't since I was stuffed after plate 3 - poor planning indeed. read more

My husband & I typically eat here several times a month. We either order food to go or we dine in with the AYCE buffet either during the week or on the weekends which is currently $15 per person. The restaurant is family owned and they are very sweet and kind people. The food is always so fresh and tasty. My favorite dishes are the chili chicken and tandoori chicken. I find the chicken tikka masala to be very dry. The flavor of the curry is perfect though. They rotate different types of appetizers like veggie pakoras, samosas and lentil dishes. There's a nice selection of Indian desserts and also includes fresh fruit, chutneys and tea. Typically they rotate between a goat or lamb dish. I'm not a fan of goat. I have tried their lamb and it was very good. All their chicken dishes are very tasty. Their selection is great for both Vegetarian and non vegetarians. I absolutely love the aloo gobi (cauliflower & potatoes) - Their naan is also so good! The restaurant is very casual and family oriented. It's also very clean. Someone is always tending to the buffet counter and making sure it's in has enough food and keeping it clean. They also have an outdoor covered patio with seating. It is no secret that I like foods that present with pulsating colors, intense flavors, vibrant aromas and intoxicating spices. As such, one cuisine (and there are more) that fits the bill is that from India. There are a plethora of restaurants in both the SFV and the Lost Angeles area, mainly centered around Northern cuisine. But tell me, do you know of one that is consistent in its delivery of memorable, hallmark dishes? Yes, there is a place in Canoga Park, called New India Palace. They serve a lunch buffet (11 am to 3 pm) daily, 7 days a week, that is unmatched, anywhere in these environs. It now runs at $14.99 plus tax, very reasonable, I might add, with a delicious selection of mouthwatering dishes. Recently, I found dahi vada (deep fried lentil donuts soaked in yoghurt and topped with chutneys and spices) as one of the selections (never seen that in any Indian buffet). It is one of my favorite Indian appetizers. And that too, it was superbly prepared. Their goat curry with aromatic brown gravy, goes well with the included freshly prepared naan (I chose the garlic version). There is chicken biriyani, pappar (fire roasted lentil and pepper wafers), yellow lentils (their version is fantastic), Saag (spinach) and aloo gobi (cauliflower and potatoes), to name a few. Chili chicken was okay, but the tandoori chicken came out dry, for both my pieces. Either way, this is not a knock down of this place. Overall, their Indian buffet food is the best in the Valley. I was looking for an Indian buffet with a strong variety of chicken dishes and boy did I find it! Along with unlimited hot Chai tea!!!! Upon entering, you will be welcomed by one of three kind elders. They ask how many and hook you up with a table, and then you start your chicken journey! The restaurant is fairly simple. Nice tables and linens, clean silverware, cups for water. By the way, I never went thirsty here. These ladies were always keeping you hydrated! There was a fried cheese ball syrup dessert that astounded me. Everything was perfect! They deliver hot naan (regular or garlic) to your table. And then....just....relax and eat. There's no rush here. Eat your crispy samosas, try all 5 chicken dishes along with the 2 paneer dishes. There's more to choose from, I just focused on these foods for myself :) Experiment, because every combo bite in your mouth is worth it. You pay at the cash register at the end. The price is comparable to most buffets, except the selection is bigger here. And they're always making sure the food is fresh and doesn't sit for too long. When I die, bury me next to an Indian restaurant or market. Or place some Indian food on an altar for me. I loves me some Indian food, particularly a buffet. Now I've had quite a few Indian buffets, some are better than others. This is part of the some that is better. The variety at this buffet is satisfying, although I wish they had saag paneer out regularly. I paid $18-19 with tax for this buffet that includes garlic or plain naan. They have unsweetened chai tea included in the buffet as well. I often leave here feeling stuffed because the food is so good here. You can tell this is one of the better Indian buffets by the quality of chicken in their tikka masala. Whole chunks of white meat that aren't at all grisly. My one bit of constructive feedback is that sometimes the burners aren't as hot resulting in some of the dishes being room temperature. Emphasis on some because it's not all. Parking is tight in this little shopping center so I suggest parking on the little residential street nearby. read more

Most of the other dishes are comparable to what you'd find at other Indian buffets, but the reason I knocked off a star is the Ras Malai. I had high hopes when I saw it, but the taste leaned more sugary than milky, unlike the boxed ones you find at supermarkets. We arrived about noon-thirty and was kindly greeted and seated in the well-attended dining room. The buffet offers a lot of options. Some favorites and some new to me. What a treat to experience such variety. The service was great. We were well cared for. The price is right. Apparently this is something a lot of people already know as many seemed like regulars. Their biryani was too spicy even tho it was a medium level of spice I requested and it was to the point where it was difficult to eat. The servers/owner were not accommodating at all and could see I was having a hard time with the spice level and didn't even offer to replace it with a mild level of spice, if that was medium then the highest level must burn your insides for sure. First and last time coming here and the owner wasn't very friendly, the vibes were weird. Inside decor was lacking for a sit down restaurant. Their Raita wasn't good either and tasted watered down. This place is so freakin good. I have eaten during buffet time and non buffet time. You do get a great deal during buffet but even outside of buffet time is still worth it. I live far from this place and I have tried a number of Indian food spots and this place is worth the drive. The food is fresh and it never tastes like thawed out frozen food. The flavors are so rich and the chicken is so tender. You get a lot of food so I recommend sharing the dishes. The mango lassi is well balanced between the mango and the yogurt. I recommend everyone to try this place. We had the chicken vindaloo and at first I didn't think it was spicy but after couple of bites I felt the burn. So delicious if you like spicy food. Stopped in for lunch with my son, who is Vegan and appreciates the many options they have on their daily lunch buffet. Indeed, the buffet is very nicely stocked with a good variety of dishes, including some of the restaurant's more interesting options (rather than just offering the typical Indian highlights). The rice dish, Chicken Biryani, was a tad spicier than usual, and I really liked that extra kick. It paired very well with their Chile Chicken, which was especially flavorful with deep and earthy notes. Saag Paneer had an excellent taste, though the cubes of Paneer were very small, becoming more of a garnish to the spinach rather than an equal player. Vegetable Pakora was crisp, while the Tandoori Chicken was moist and perfectly cooked. Garlic Naan was freshly baked and packed with flavor, and sauces like Raita and Mint Chutney balanced the meal perfectly. My son made the most of the rice, Channa Masala, Daal and a variety of vegetable dishes. There were also salad items and a number of sweet that we didn't try. And yes, they had some of the expected stand-by dishes, like Chicken Tika Masala, but I didn't indulge because I had so many other options. The wait staff and hosts were all very friendly and quick to get us whatever we wanted. They kept bringing refills of water and extra napkins, and were quick to clear plates so that we could return to the buffet. The only draw back is that there is very little ambiance to the restaurant, which is situated in a strip mall along Topanga Canyon Blvd. I would most definitely return for lunch, and even order take-out for dinner, but I don't know that I would choose to dine in at a later hour, as it just doesn't have the dinnertime vibe. Joyce G. and Prasanna K. about the food served at your restaurant New India Palace. The restaurant, the food tastes very bland and taste flat flavor. The chef is obviously not up to par. I hope the restaurant owner takes these reviews and feedback to heart and makes changes, or soon customers will stop dining there because of the inferior food preparation. I have eaten Indian food in New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, iLLinois, Miami Florida and several foreign countries, around the world. The quality of the food at your restaurant is far below these other restaurants because you don't use fresh food, namely chicken. Frozen chicken is not as tasty. Try shopping at the Fresh Poultry Corp. at 711 North Spring Street in downtown LA and you will get a better product. And the food set out on your buffet was cold, not hot. It sat there for hours, even who know how long? and may have been unhealthy due to exposure; correct this. I hope you improve the quality of your food so that I can give you a better review next time. read more

This restaurant opened in June of 2021 in the first time that we frequented this was in August of 2021. I've been a caterer in the food industry and a professional for over 50 years so when I review a restaurant, I like to think that I'm doing it from an objective point of view in that emotional as many of the reviews tend to be. As you can see from my original review, I really liked this restaurant at that time. Their price was only $9.99 which made it one of the best values in all of Los Angeles as far as Indian food was concerned. Now the price is $14.95, up 50% from when they originally opened four years ago. Of course everybody's prices are up at this point so I'm not going to dwell on this. It's still a decent value. Over the years we frequented this restaurant on and off and the last time we were here was in December of 2024. The service was always good and the food, although it didn't have very much heat if any at all, was always good. We always had a decent meal here. Things have changed. When my wife and I first walked in we saw two new women taking care of the floor. As I recollect there were always two or three, which I assume were family, and the service was always good. Communication with the previous individuals was always kind of spotty but we were able to get our points across and communicate it effectively. Currently, the ladies taking care of the floor speak virtually no English. When I asked them if there were new owners, I received an unintelligible response and finally just gave up. How's the food? The food has changed and not for the better. Now, the dishes seem bland. The sauces are not as well seasoned as they were before. When the paneer is added to the dishes it seems to have just been put in at the last minute as opposed to cooked in the sauce so could have absorbed the flavors. The tandoori chicken tended to be somewhat dry and rubbery. That tandoori paste mixture was just coated on the chicken and there was no longer any nicely charred flavor from the tandoor. I'm not someone who really does not like goat meat, so I tried a small piece just to see how it was. It was tender but nothing special. The sauce was actually very good and later in meal, I had it over rice. Now the vegetables have been cooked to death they're soft and mushy. Virtually all the food just seemed to be off. I'm not saying it was bad, and I'm not saying it was very good anymore either. It was just mediocre. This is the first time my wife and I were disappointed in the meal here. As I said, I'm not saying that the food was bad, it was just mediocre. You can obtain this food all over Los Angeles. There's no longer anything special about it. This was truly disappointing. Been coming here for the lunch buffet for a while now, it's no frills - the aunties are nice, service is friendly. There is a large buffet variety no matter what day you come for lunch and the food is flavorful, delicious, and spicy. My go to's are the goat curry (I think they only have this on Sunday's now- this is my favorite dish here), the tandoori chicken, chili chicken, samosa, and aloo cauliflower. We do not get the naan. Spice level on some dishes leans more towards the heavier/slow burn side (depending on who's in the kitchen that day) but it should be approachable for most people as not everything has spice. The crowd here is very mixed. Layout/how it works: It's a small-ish interior space with an outdoor seating area. You walk in through the side door from the parking lot (facing the donut shop), when one of the aunties spot you, they will ask you how many are in your party and let you know what number table to sit at. You have to request to sit outside if you want it. If you are a party of two, they will seat you at a small 2-top table if it's busy - remember it's a small place. They will also ask you if you want regular or garlic naan (most times from across the room), then you are free to head up to the buffet, you don't have to sit down during this whole interaction lol. Grab a plate from the right side and work your way left - that's the correct flow. If you decide to go back for seconds, thirds - whatever no judgement, put your utensils to the side on your napkin (not on your plate) and leave your used plate - they will clear it for you. Water is served at the table and there's a tea option on the far left side of the buffet. Once you're done with your meal, go up to the register on the far right side near the wall to pay. Bathroom is in the back between the buffet and register. The chairs feel super sketchy / wobbly but somehow are sturdy. Parking lot is shared and small, street parking is usually easier. read more

Apparently Indian lunch buffets are harder to find in the valley, post-pandemic. I had an enjoyable experience here. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. The dishes presented were decent- basically a mix of Curries, Rices (plain and a Biryani) and some appetizers like Samosas and Pakora. The hot and fresh naans (Garlic or Plain) were great and I ordered additional Mango Lassi's were rich and tasty. I parked on the street although they have some inside parking too. As much as I hesitate to tell you how good this place is (because it may mean less options for a table when I go), I think this is the best Indian restaurant in the area. Portions are fantastic for the money. The spices are lovely. And the chef gets to know you and will replicate the spice how you like it. Amazing olive naan (get some extras for your leftovers) and chicken tikka masala (I get 8.5 spice or higher and it's never steered me wrong). The Dahl is lovely and filled with flavor as well. The saffron rice is the most flavorful saffron rice I've ever had. Cannot say enough about how great this place is. If you want to try, their buffet is really well done, too! read more

Came here on a Monday before noon. The parking lot is small but luckily we got a spot. We came for the $12.99 per person lunch buffet (every day from 11-3) and it was so worth it!! The inside is small but has some cute charm and the employees were very friendly and attentive, seating us immediately and clearing out used plates from tables quickly. There were a few parties there and more came in after we arrived, guess we beat the small rush. Naan is included in the meal so we got a big basket of garlic naan. They advertise 35-40 different dishes and there were plenty of dishes to choose from! I tried almost every single one of the hot savory options and they all had so much flavor. I loved the saag paneer, mutter paneer, chicken tikka masala, and the yellow daal. They also had some fruits, desserts including rice pudding and gulab jamun both of which were delicious and refreshing after stuffing myself. This place is so close and such a great deal, will definitely see myself becoming a regular especially since they have the lunch buffet on weekends! read more

Such a gem. My family and I came in on a Monday around lunch and were greeted and seated immediately. The Palace is not very big, but does have indoor and outdoor seating. We were asked which type of pita we preferred for the table and then it was off to the races for our tasty selections. I was not expecting high quality food since we were at a buffet and at such a very low cost, but after my first few bites I was walloped with surprise and tasty satisfaction. The Curry, Dhal, Masala, and Paneer were so savory, creamy, and tasted freshly made. I also liked the samosas and subtly sweet rice pudding! Another sweet surprise was their hot chai machine. There isn't a ton of selection like most other buffets however the selection available was so flavorful. Our waters were filled frequently, the food options were amazing, the staff was very friendly and hospitable. For the price, and quality of food I think this was my best buffet experience. We end up getting seated outside, and I find bits of dried up food on mine and my dad's spoon. We ordered the saffron rice and it was good except it was served with very distinguishable frozen vegetables. I ordered a chicken tikki masala. The curry was really good, but the chicken was frozen. It had an odd texture and was really bland. The curry paired with the garlic naan was tasty. When we asked for to go boxes, they took our food and gave it back in a very small yogurt container from golden spoon. I had a mango lassi that was given back to me in an extremely small container and I can't help but think that not all of our food/drink was given back.
