This is my second time eating here and it's a solid Indian restaurant. My friend likes to come here for "catch up" sessions because it's pretty quiet at dinner and we can linger. Whether or not the staff approved, is hard to say. While we were checked on regularly, and glasses refilled a couple of times, there was a sense of, 'ok, you've paid, move along', even though the entire time we were there the steady stream was to-go orders and only 2 other tables out of 10? 15? ever had occupants. That aside, we ordered our dishes and they were delicious. If we were more focused on eating, instead of conversing, we would have finished them easily. I tried the chicken curry, mild, and it had just enough "kick" to satisfy. My friend had the Chana Masala, also mild, and said that and the naan were very good. I understand the real draw here is the lunch buffet, which my friend really enjoys. Apparently, that was the first time I was here, but I don't remember over a year ago and no dishes posted then. I must have devoured everything too fast! They close for a bit after they finish the lunch buffet and on a Friday night they reopened for dinner at 5pm, so be sure to check hours before making plans. The decor is quite nice and has a soft ambiance. The young lady taking care of us was polite and efficient. I'm sure the next time I'll be back for the buffet and def get more pics. Cheers! Until today, we were regular customers. My 16-year-old niece ordered about $200 worth of takeout for the family tonight. She told the restaurant she was allergic to nuts and asked if her order had nuts. They assured her it did not. Minutes after she started eating at home, she went into anaphylaxis, and we had to rush her to the emergency room. She was crying, saying she couldn't breathe. After she was out of the woods, my sister and I both drove over to Indian Haweli to confront the owner. He showed no remorse. He was very rude and indifferent. He insisted my niece never disclosed she had a nut allergy, but only asked if there were nuts in one of the two entrees. He said they accurately told her there were no nuts in one of them, and insisted she never asked about the other dish. That is a baldfaced lie, first of all, but even if it was true, obviously if she's asking about nuts anyone with the common sense of a flea would be able to deduce there is a nut allergy and would volunteer that the other dish had nuts whether they were asked about it or not. But no concern whatsoever about a young girl's health and safety. No apology. No accountability. Didn't even ask if my niece was OK. I will never set foot in that place again. Beware if you have food allergies. These people don't give a damn if you die. read more

I have been regular to the restaurant. Every weekend and sometimes in weekdays, I enjoy the delicious Indian buffet here. The owner and the family is very friendly. They work really hard and cater to our request as in when we need the Indian food for our house party birthday party or any kind of celebration. The food is terrible! The service was half good half bad. But the daal was a disaster! The only good thing for the food was the gobi and thats strange. For the kids we ordered chicken and even the kids hated it they said "It's terrible!" and "It's the worst!" The food coloring got on our fingertips for 2 days! Ambiance is just ok. Even though Simi Valley has not more than a handful of Indian restaurants, there are representatives in this class that deserve a visit. One of these eateries is Indian Haweli, on Los Angeles Avenue. It maybe the only Indian cuisine location that has a lunch buffet ($14.99) in Simi. The dining area is small, but well appointed, with simple decor. There was one staff member that was maintaining the area and keeping the food well stocked. That should not be a deterrent. Service was friendly, informative and professional. If anything, some of the lunch buffet items were drying out. So additional assembly of these dishes with more liquid and/or keeping them covered could change the landscape and optics. See my pictures for the offerings. What stood out for me was the two appetizers (Aloo Tikki and Samosas), the latter having a different flavor. There are several selections of chicken and vegetables. Accompaniments are Naan, Rice, Salad, Raita, Chutneys (both Mint and tamarind), pappar and Indian desserts (that include Gulab Jamoo). Wine and beer is also available. read more

Came today with a friend for lunch right when they opened. There was already a few people there eating. I like to come on Tues and Sunday's because they have curried goat. My favorite! They also had a great eggplant dish. I can never eat more than one plate, but service is always great. Was a nice 1.5 hour lunch to catch up with my friend. I can't believe we haven't come here in all these years! I'm obsessed with the food. Especially the Chan batura appetizer and the lamb coconut curry. The chicken makhni is good (what my husband likes to order). It's very buttery with tender chicken thighs and overall great flavor! We love dipping the garlic naan in the sauce. So rich and flavorful. I had the chicken vindaloo with chicken thighs and it was good as well but a little herbaceous. Which is not bad at all, especially if you like chicken in something similar to salsa verde, it's definitely for you. Thankfully, I love salsa verde, so I enjoyed it. I've previous ordered the chicken tandoori and remember enjoying it, but can't recall if it's dark or white meat. Btw, you can always ask for whichever meat you prefer! Also, love the green chutney. Have been regularly ordering great food one of the best places in Simi for Indian food.

First of all, this was a takeout order but my limited interaction with the staff was great. From ordering on the phone to picking up, it was a pleasant experience talking to them. This is just my opinion, but for the price, I was hoping for larger portions, especially for the vegetarian dishes. And the basmati rice is described on the menu I saw as having cumin seeds for fragrance and seasoning. Mine was just pure rice, no seasoning. Disappointing when you enjoy cumin. And most painfully, I found some sort of metal shaving in my lamb korma. Here's a photo on the lamb korma lid. Not a deal breaker but will definitely engender second thoughts about going back. read more

I got the Garlic Naan, Keema Naan, Samosas, Rice, and Butter Chicken (my waitresses favorite.) First, the waitress that helped me was extremely kind and helpful. I let her know it was my first time here and asked for recommendations, and she was great. The Restaurant is also very nice and clean, it felt great temperature wise too. She suggested the Butter Chicken. I told her that I know white people always get the Butter Chicken and that I really wanted to try something different, but she said it was actually her favorite and that's why she recommended it. So I got it and it was amazing. I had it with rice. I would say I wish it was a larger portion for the price, but that's a minor issue. The Garlic Naan was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. It had a nice crisp bottom with soft parts throughout the top. Definitely my recommendation. The Keema Naan was great, I would recommend this as an appetizer instead of a bread side. It wasn't as flavorful as I expected but it was very filling and tasted great. The Samosas were probably my favorite part of the meal. They were crisped to perfection, full of flavor, and they weren't small either; each had a ball of filling bigger than a golf ball. I've had samosas elsewhere in Simi that can't stand up these at all. They were amazing. Overall, the food was delicious and the service was spectacular. read more

It had been a couple of years since I was last here and I remember why. I really wanted to like this place again but they have a lot of room for improvement. A LOT !!! Ordered the Lunch Buffett: Food quality was very poor, most trays almost empty and all food was only luke warm and soggy. The empty trays (with a full restaurant eating) It took 15 + minutes for more chicken tamdori. The Garlic Naan bread was so soggy and wet as it was in a container with the lid on. So I politely asked for fresh Garlic naan and they brought me some. What they did not tell me or advise me is that when I went to pay they charged my $5 additional for the EXACT SAME GARLIC NAAN they were serving on the AYCE Buffett. He said ist company policy !!! What the heck !!! I told them this was not right and he did remove it but that was after I asked how come you did not advise me of this policy. He had no answer. Not cool !!! Finally found our new go-to place for an OUTSTANDING Indian lunch buffet!! This was almost too good to be true. Excellent service, all the dishes were well stocked and looked and tasted freshly prepared. The selection of dishes was very impressive! Tons of vegetarian options in addition to assorted poultry and meat entrees. Generous platters of side dishes, relishes, chutney, Raina and garlic naan bread. Delicious rice pudding and fresh fruit desserts. Everything was clearly labeled which made it easy to navigate all the choices. We never had to ask the server to replenish any of the dishes, despite us coming in right at their lunch hour. Everything tasted great, and not a single thing was missing. Price was very reasonable and comparable to much less impressive buffets I've been to. This is a gem and we will be back soon! read more

WARNING! My 2 star review is because we had ordered butter chicken and chicken biryani and nowhere on the menu said there were nuts in it (Other items said there was). My husband and 2 sons have nut and tree nuts allergies. I started eating it and tasted nuts and they had already eaten some. I went to grab a menu to review the ingredients to make sure I wasn't missing anything and I asked the waitress if there were nuts she said yes. She said the butter chicken and the rice has it! She offered to get us something else but we declined. Asked for 2 sprites. The food that had nuts was not comped and she apologized that she couldn't do that but she had comped the soda. I told her that they really need to update their menu to show that there are nuts in dishes. THIS could have been very Bad if my family was anaphylactic. We finished our meal and left and my son ended up throwing up because his body was reacting to the cashews. Got home and gave him Claritin to help with the reactions. Came here for dinner tonight and ordered the following: Veggie pakora- good but portion size was small Samosa- good but only came with 2 Butter chicken - good HAS NUTS Lamb vindaloo - good Chicken biryani - good HAS NUTS Tandori mixed plate- good came with shrimp, chicken and sheek kabab. CHICKEN MAKNI 4/5 Such a great sauce with rich tomato flavor you can tell by the deep red coloring that's it's going to be delicious but slices of chicken fell short by being dry. I'm used to butter chicken with tender pieces of chicken thigh. VEGETABLE KORMA 5/5 Best vegetable korma I've every had! So creamy and loaded with veggies. Their paneer was also the best! One of the few remaining Indian buffets around, so I was pretty excited - $15 is also a fair price these days. Some of the buffet food was above average, but most was average. The chicken tikka masala, for instance, is enjoyable but could have used a little more flavor. The mushroom curry was really great - intense mushroom flavors in there. Wasn't a big fan of the way they spiced the spinach curry (usually one of my favs at other places) - it tasted like the smell of BO. Tandoori chicken was seasoned well and was juicy. Garlic naan instead of regular naan is a plus. The rice dessert was phenomenal. They make it with saffron, which is a first for me. Not overly sweet, really nice saffron flavors. read more
