I found the service to be slow. The food was good with the cheese and herb naan being the stars of the show The fried calamari was also delicious.

Stopped here for lunch after suit shopping with my friend Ki. The location is nice, Georgetown is such a vibe. The inside of the restaurant has nice ambiance and has that fine dining feel. The setting is perfect for a date or meal with a good friend or family member. Our waitress was friendly. We had a small miscommunication about the water but it was laughable and helped us to connect. The food was really good. Indian cuisine is one of my favorites. I really enjoyed my chicken korma. The sauce is flavorful and savory with a slight sweetness that was so nice. I could just eat naan with the korma sauce and be happy lol. Ki's tikka was good as well. The meat samosas were good and pretty filling but we still managed to finish most of our entrees. Take of India cuisine is a great Indian spot to try out if you're in DC

Shrimp and fish ... can't remember the flavor but the food were so good! Love it so much!Ordered another dish of Spinach also.

I visited this place years ago and discovered some of the most authentic Indian food . The flavors are rich, traditional, and truly memorable. Highly recommend for anyone craving genuine Indian cuisine!

An OK restaurant that gets the job done but no more. I recently went on a weekend night with two friends and we were seated immediately. Taj of India is a white-tablecloth restaurant but not fancy. Our service could have been better-it took a while for our dishes to arrive and we got our appetizer and mains all at once instead of staggered. We all shared the paneer tikka, which could have used more flavor and more sauce. We also split the garlic and cheese naans, which were the best dishes of the evening. The portions were good, the garlic naan sufficiently garlicky, and the cheese naan had a good amount of cheese. For my main, I got the goat vindaloo at the Indian spicy level. While there was spice and flavor, I was expecting the dish to be hotter, especially since vindaloo is normally quite spicy. I was also surprised when the goat came on the bone-this was not indicated on the menu and would not have ordered it had I known. I tried my friend's vegetable dumplings and while the sauce was delicious, the vegetable dumplings were bland. Taj of India is worth going to if you are looking for a reasonably-priced sit-down restaurant in Georgetown, but there are far better dining options in Georgetown and Indian restaurants in DC.

The best, so good! The servings were HUGE, I would absolutely recommend going family style as I could not finish my entree. I got the lunch special of the day which was so delicious and let me sample a bunch of their popular options. Our server was so kind and very attentive even though we were sitting outside. Would recommend trying their drinks, the lassi and juices we got were top notch

I come to this restaurant every time I visit the DC area for work, which is pretty frequent. Best saag paneer I've ever had! The garlic naan also is phenomenal. Prices are reasonable for Georgetown too. Service is also prompt.

Best indian I've had! And trust me, I reallllllly dislike Indian food in general. I stuck to a chicken briyani for a reason. This one was a different flavor but loved it. I paired it with their mango chutney which was unique but still great and boy did those flavors hit the spot. Loved the meat samosa with the red chutney, the green was a no for me. My friend has some sort of lamb dish and she raved about it. Not a fan of lamb but the sauce it was in was finger licking good. Garlic naan was just alright. Tea tasted like Lipton, hard pass. Just an overall great meal.

I recommend the bhel Purina and the fried cauliflower. I'm sure all of the chaats are good. The only thing I didn't love was the vegetarian bowl. I thought quinoa was strange with Indian food. The mango cheesecake was surprisingly light and refreshing!

We were a large group and ordered a wide variety of dishes including the lamb roll, lamb chops, palak chaat, paneer tikka, crab, shrimp curry, and the Everything Mango dessert. The food was delicious across the board, with plenty of bold flavors and beautifully prepared dishes. The downside is that it comes at a fairly high price, so I expected the overall experience to match the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. We had made our reservation several days in advance for a large group, yet our server seemed to be rushing us from the moment we sat down. Even while choosing our wine, we were repeatedly pushed to make a decision rather than being given time to look through the options. It felt unnecessarily rushed and pushy, which really put a damper on what should have been a special group dinner. The atmosphere is lovely, with a sophisticated and ambient setting that works well for special occasions. Given the prices, though, I expected much more polished service. Great food, but the rushed service left a bad taste and unfortunately overshadowed an otherwise delicious meal.

Every course was very well cooked and a wide variety of flavors, etc. However we were a bit perplexed by some of the courses feeling non Indian (tuna tartare for example) and hoped for more elevated classics from Indian cuisine. Overall the food was good! Unfortunately we were disappointed by the service. There were no aspects of it that represented a Michelin star level dining experience. After sitting it took a while to first be approached by our server, we were given incorrect food at one point, slow to clear our table and glassware (empty glasses and plates sat for longer than normal), table not wiped in between courses when crumbs, etc appeared. Some of things would be fine on a regular night, at a standard restaurant. But not acceptable for a Michelin rated restaurant and for the prices that we paid.

I liked the Nirvana - it was basically like a very elevated salad appetizer chaat. The Nirvana dish was served piled high (with 37 ingredients) and then the server mixes it up. It was interesting - creative - and something I'd like to try again and experiment with at home. The fennel paneer was also tasty. We ordered the lobster masala since it had a mention by the Michelin Guide. The lobster masala was good, but I guess I was expecting something more. A couple of the dishes were on the salty side.
