Still have 1/2 of each plate left and we ate so much!

SOOOOO GOOD !!! This place is easy to miss if you're just walking past but omg this is a must have ! I almost let the looks of this place make me wanna try a "prettier" restaurant but I'm so happy I didn't. I tried the traditional curry which was a 10/10 and the biryani which was also a 10/10!!! Super laid back service and the food... my goodness worth every bite !!! Me and my partner shared and we have a solid 2 portions left of food for tomorrow.

Masala Street is a pretty decent no-frills take-out style Indian restaurant. There is some limited seating in this small restaurant but it is clean and serves its purpose. The food here decent but the portion sizes are generous (1 curry is enough for 2 people). And the prices are solid especially for being in Georgetown. I started with the samosas, they were crispy but the filling and the chutneys were ok. I tried the butter chicken and the saag (palak) panner along with butter and garlic naan. I enjoyed the butter chicken the most, the chicken was tender, there was a lot of it, and the curry was well balanced, not too sweet, not too sour. The saag paneer was ok, the consistency was different from what I'm used to and I think it could've use more spinach. The naans were ok as well, not bad, but nothing I'd write home about. If you're craving north Indian, this place definitely hits the spot.

Great awesome Indian Street food when you're passing through the Georgetown area. Really hits the spot when you're walking by and there's a lot of little shops to choose from but this place is very friendly and there's a lot to choose from if you want something nice, original, and ethnic

This place is ridiculously good! Deeply authentic Indian food and nice owners. Plus it's Halal! When I first entered Maslala Street, I was taken a bit aback because it was literally erected in the corpse of Pica Taco. They didn't change a thing. If you walked in, you would still think it was a Mexican Restaurant. But does that not make it more authenticly Indian? I've tried a lot since opening here. I recommend it all. Goat Biryani was 10/10. It is exactly what I am looking for in a biryani. Spicy with a hint of tartness from lemons and spices, flavorful & juicy. Chicken 65 was just amazing. And so are their Chicken Wings? And their Butter Chicken is the second best I've had. Just how I like it. Not too thick, not radioactively orange, not too much heavy cream, very smooth, and the chicken was cooked seperately before being put in the curry! A halmark of a great Butter Chicken! For vegetarian options, I love their Samosa Chaat. It's delicious, spicy, sweet, and sour! I can't praise this place enough. It's quaint but the food is amazing. I am shocked that such a good Indian place has finally opened in DC! It's 100x better than Rasika or other high end places around. The ~only~ downside is that you have to barter to get something to eat. As in, they don't have about half of their extensive menu at any given time. Plus sometimes the wait for food can take a while but that's just because they make everything fresh. But that just makes it more authentically desi tbh. I hope this place sticks around far longer than the Pica Taco before it.

This is THE place for biriyani or samosas. I've tried almost every Indian spot around DC and Arlington, and this delicious hole in the wall sits high on my list for takeout. The butter chicken could use less tomato paste, and the naan could be a bit crispier, but that's me being picky. Every time my partner and I have tried to do takeout from Masala Street on a weekend night, they've had to turn us away because they had too many orders. We were successful on a Wednesday night, however, and we look forward to coming back.

    Lamb Biryani

Ordered this take-out lamb biryani 30 min before closing. Tastes amazing despite being so close to closing. They didn't skimp on the portions either! I ordered medium spicy which I think is the perfect balance. Will definitely be coming back to try more items.

I recommend the bhel Purina and the fried cauliflower. I'm sure all of the chaats are good. The only thing I didn't love was the vegetarian bowl. I thought quinoa was strange with Indian food. The mango cheesecake was surprisingly light and refreshing!

We were a large group and ordered a wide variety of dishes including the lamb roll, lamb chops, palak chaat, paneer tikka, crab, shrimp curry, and the Everything Mango dessert. The food was delicious across the board, with plenty of bold flavors and beautifully prepared dishes. The downside is that it comes at a fairly high price, so I expected the overall experience to match the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. We had made our reservation several days in advance for a large group, yet our server seemed to be rushing us from the moment we sat down. Even while choosing our wine, we were repeatedly pushed to make a decision rather than being given time to look through the options. It felt unnecessarily rushed and pushy, which really put a damper on what should have been a special group dinner. The atmosphere is lovely, with a sophisticated and ambient setting that works well for special occasions. Given the prices, though, I expected much more polished service. Great food, but the rushed service left a bad taste and unfortunately overshadowed an otherwise delicious meal.
