    Garlic Naan

Excellent Service, Convenient Location and Clean place - but that's pretty much it :( So, why the 3 stars? Because sadly the food did not live up to the reviews - And I was looking forward to their meals, so it was disappointing. Chicken Biryani is more like chicken fried rice with Indian spices. Biryanis don't have boneless fried Chicken cubes, but rice cooked with Chicken, usually bone in. Getting something like this from a fusion restaurant is great, but not from a South Asian place. They served the lunch box menu in a plastic container - I mean, if I am eating in, and paying a gratuity for the experience, is it that hard to serve in proper plates. I am truly saddened by this experience, especially good experiences in the Columbus area, with all kind of restaurants and cuisines.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Columbus. It's been tradition for 2 years now to get it at least once weekly. Sometimes even twice. We never get sick of it. It's the most delicious food, the friendliest service, such a clean establishment! Everything about Taj Palace is an A+ 10/10!!! We are Taj super fans and recommend to everyone!

We had to come to this place after being told they have a buffet. Once we arrived, we were told they no longer have it which was a downer. We decided to go with chicken curry and it was pretty good. My wife and friend got a level 6 and I got a level 3. Highly enjoyed it and wouldn't mind coming back really soon.

The flavors of the food were so good. The takeout experience was awesome. Very easy ordering and food was ready when they said it would be. I love that they offer spice level 1-10 so you can really have it how you like it. The only (very) odd thing about our food was that it seemed to be missing some things that were listed in the menu. For instance, the chicken korma description said it was supposed to have cashews and raisins. It had neither one. The chicken biryani was listed on the menu as having vegetables in it, but there were definitely no veggies in the biryani we had. It was just chicken and rice. That was a letdown, but I won't let it stop me from ordering from here again. Even without all the promised ingredients, it tasted great!

We were craving Indian for dinner and this place far exceeded our expectations! Everything was so flavorful, the prices were good, and the portions were pretty generous. Highly recommend the chili paneer app, it was fantastic!

    Lunch combo with Naan $14.95

Very good. If you're craving some cultural food, that's a little different, I would recommend this place. I was there for lunch and it was like $14.95 for a combo meal. Strange that they served it to me in a to go container.

I've been craving Indian food for a very long time but have no clue where to order around here. I looked at lots of reviews and settled on Taj Palace. I have to say I was quite disappointed with the portion and the price I paid ($23). I would've thought there would be way more chicken since the container that came was filled halfway up. All of the chicken you see on my plate is all of the chicken in the dish. The rest is just sauce! The other disappointing factor was that you can order spice levels 1-10. I ordered a higher level, but there was absolutely zero spice in the dish (I was hoping they'd bring the heat). Positive notes would be quite a large portion of rice was included with the meal and the garlic naan was pretty good. Will I order again from here? Maybe, not sure. I would be more willing to try another place first before reordering from here.

My paneer paratha was a great alternative to the usual na'an, MUCH more flavor... I'd go for that option, or something similar, again. Zero wait because we went on a rainy Friday afternoon. There are picnic tables without shade/umbrellas if you wanted to eat on premises though. We placed our order and waited in the car. It didnt take long at all which was a plus, also. However I took a start off because neither of the employees (both men) weren't very friendly. I don't ever expect much, but I expect the minimum beyond getting my order correct. With that said, here's what we got and what we think! Veggie samosas: 11/10. Holy moly these are the absolute best samosas I've ever had. They outshone the very good pizza. I'd eat 50 of them! Seriously I will go for the samosas alone. They're big, perfectly fried, and filled with the best mashed veg filling, very reminiscent of mashed potatoes. The spicy dipping sauce was like a branston pickle (a spicy vinegary sauce). Half and half Paneer Makhani/Butter Chicken (regular spice level) with a side of Tandoori Ranch sauce: Solid pizza in every way. We both liked the Paneer Makhani a touch more. Neither was spicy at all - next time I will bump up the spice. I loved how chewy the dough is! I get why people say it is a bit on the unsaucy side because it is. That didn't bother me at all, though. The ranch dipping sauce was really flavorful and a nice compliment! Definitely want to try more pizza flavors now. They do have a special for any pizza with 2 samosas and 2 sodas for $26. Good deal if you ask me. You can upgrade to a mango lassi for a couple bucks more. I will try that next time too!

I've lived in Atlanta for almost 30 years and never found an Indian restaurant that got it right. Then I stumbled onto Taj on Fifth in Columbus, Ohio on a business trip, and it might be the best Indian meal I've had outside of home. The lamb chops were incredible... I single-handedly finished the entire order and have no regrets. The butter chicken was the real thing: creamy, properly spiced, none of the honey-sweetened version so many restaurants pass off as authentic. The garlic naan was thin and crispy on the outside, yet soft and chewy in that perfect way you only get from a real tandoor. I'm a 100-pound woman who typically can't finish a single entree, let alone two. Most Indian food is so heavy and greasy that I'm done after a few bites. Here, I polished off a full order of lamb chops and half the butter chicken and garlic naan... one and a half entrees, solo, no help. ‍ Rich, properly balanced, and never heavy. That's rare! The service made the meal even better. My server, Deepak, struck that perfect balance...attentive without hovering. Turns out he's actually the owner and the chef behind the menu, and he took ten minutes tableside to chat with me. We realized he trained at IIHM in Hyderabad, which happens to be my hometown. That explains everything... the food isn't just made with passion, it's made with real technical training behind it. I also had the Jasmeen Dream cocktail, which was a great pairing. If you're anywhere near Columbus, this is a must. I'm already trying to figure out an excuse to go back.

The garlic naan was perfect--crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and the perfect vehicle for scooping up all that delicious curry and getting it straight into my happy belly! The sauces were absolutely amazing and packed with flavor. The servers were also very friendly, attentive, and professional, which made the experience even better. We were really happy with our experience at Taj on 5th and so glad we stumbled upon it while searching Yelp for great restaurants nearby.
