    A sneak peek inside

This was my first time here and you walk into an open space that is neat and exceptionally clean. We asked for a recommendation on the appetizer and we were in for a real treat. Here is where the magic happens. You need to ask what they recommend on the menu. Yes, it might be the next to the most expensive item but trust me, it is well worth it. I ordered the mint chicken and it was everything I hoped for plus some. They have been in business for over 25 years and there's a reason for it. Service was wonderful! They don't rush you nor bother you. And extremely appreciative that you came. I can't recommend them highly enough. That's the reason for the 5 stars. Which my followers know I never ever do! Sooo please come try Indian oven you won't be disappointed. Thank you for doing what you do and making the best dishes Columbus has seen.

This is the only restaurant not vegan that will get a 5 star review due to their clearly marked vegan menu options. Knowledgeable staff. Great service and delicious food. My wife and I went again there and had a fantastic meal with great great service. Got the baked eggplant with sweet and sour sauce, vegetable curry , and fried potatoes. Fantastic. Highly recommended

I had the palak paneer. The cheese and sauce together are amazing. Not as complex as some I've had but delicious. The naan is some of the best I've had. And we enjoyed the chili chicken app. The chicken melted in my mouth. And the veggies with it were perfectly cooked - still crispy and just a tiny bit smoky. The service is 100% professional. Very punctual but not hovering. The ambiance is classy. The building evokes a mid-century vibe and is tasteful decorated. Subtle but lovely with cloth napkins, and large windows allowing an abundance of natural light into the space. Treat yourself and give this gem a try.

Stumbled on this casual-but-classy place a few months ago, and had time to stop in today. Parking lot is rough but there are plenty of spots. Inside is beautiful. Windows on two whole walls, very nicely decorated, classy enough for date night. And still decorated for Valentine's Day. They clearly have a sense of humor with the bear vignettes they made, and a couple of signs. The food? Eyes rolling back in my head good. I got garlic naan to start/side my meal, and it was perfect. Big, nicely crisped, loads of garlic. Then I was at a loss because so much looked good. Ended up with lamb saag, tender (boneless) chunks of lamb in a spinach cream. So flavorful. I asked for medium spice since, though I like heat, you never know what you're going to get at a new place. It was on the mild side. Just a hint of heat, but so much other flavor going on. Came with perfect rice. Service was great. Prices are fair. I will definitely be back.

I'm glad to see one of my favorite restaurants has come out of Covid totally intact. The environment is still beautiful, service is diligent, and the food is still the star. Well prepared, well spiced, great visuals. They have lunch specials instead of the buffet and the choices hit all the high notes of Indian cuisine. I was happy. Buffet is now Fridays only. The dinner menu is extensive. Although lunch traffic on a Wednesday was slow, there was a steady stream of to-go and delivery service activity. After 20 years Indian Oven is still premier!

My favorite Indian so far. My butter chicken was so very good! They cut chicken to small cube very easy to eat and so soft. I felt that it would never be enough for me. Also the portion was pretty big, I had some left for another meal and taste as good as the same day at the restaurant. I really like the presentation as well, how they served rice was so cool. I really wanted to buy their dishes and use it at home too :D Service was nice, our server was very polite.

One of the best Indian food perfect Really good service very friendly staff perfect easy on and offhighway. parking

I haven't eaten here in ages but forever ago, before I lived in Columbus, this was the Indian restaurant all my friends spoke about. I think I've only dined in once, but I ordered delivery last weekend and it certainly hit the spot. I got enough food to feed me twice, always the best way to go when ordering Indian food. I got an order of samosas for an appetizer, some garlic naan, and the vegetable navratan korma (which is always my go-to entree). It didn't take too long at all to arrive, especially being on a weekend evening. I think I ordered around seven and I was eating by eight. The samosas were great. Two come in an order along with a side of their yummy cilantro chutney. They were crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside, stuffed with potato and other veggies. I will definitely order them again. As for the garlic naan, I have no complaints. When it comes to the star of the show, the korma was flavorful and creamy. I absolutely loved the raisins tossed in and the portion was certainly enough for dinner and lunch the following day. I wouldn't say it's my favorite korma in the city, but it was very good and I would recommend it. Given that they have a large menu and their delivery was so quick, I'll definitely add this into my Indian food rotation. We're lucky to have a lot of options in Columbus and I try to support them all if I can.

Food was good but the dine in service was incrediblyyyy slowwww. And it was a Tuesday the least busy day of the week. It was my first time meeting a friend here so we had plenty to talk about! But our chats were not the bottleneck to the service. The server didn't come to our table for a full 20 min after we had sat... didn't come get our checks for probably 30 min after we finished eating, etc. So we left at 8:45 on a 6:15 reservation that we came a little early on. It would be one thing if it was really busy but the restaurant didn't have more than 3 tables sat (including us) the entire time we were there. We also had a weird encounter on the wine we ordered where my friend ended up wanting to change from the cab to a Pinot but he cut her off and said he remembered the original cab she wanted and walked away to put it in. We also didn't get any serving spoons for our dishes until we asked. For food we ordered samosa chaat and lamb kabobs. The samosa chaat was delicious but a little lukewarm. The lamb was a little overcooked on so some lamb pieces were on dry side. But flavors were great. For entrees the lamb biryani was exceptional and same with the saag paneer. May have been my favorite saag paneer. Tasted on the light side and very savory yet refreshing at the same time... if you can imagine that for a cheesy spinach dish. The chicken tikka was ok - a little too citrusy for me. Rice was great. The server was nice but just a little aloof being forgetful of our table throughout the evening despite so few people. There were quite a few takeout orders though... so maybe just a little understaffed. But I can hardly excuse it with only 3 tables. Again, we were just chatting and relaxing and not in a hurry, but it would have been nice to be paid a little more attention to. I'd definitely come back for the food and order it as take out as well. And def for the paneer and biryani!

I've lived in Atlanta for almost 30 years and never found an Indian restaurant that got it right. Then I stumbled onto Taj on Fifth in Columbus, Ohio on a business trip, and it might be the best Indian meal I've had outside of home. The lamb chops were incredible... I single-handedly finished the entire order and have no regrets. The butter chicken was the real thing: creamy, properly spiced, none of the honey-sweetened version so many restaurants pass off as authentic. The garlic naan was thin and crispy on the outside, yet soft and chewy in that perfect way you only get from a real tandoor. I'm a 100-pound woman who typically can't finish a single entree, let alone two. Most Indian food is so heavy and greasy that I'm done after a few bites. Here, I polished off a full order of lamb chops and half the butter chicken and garlic naan... one and a half entrees, solo, no help. ‍ Rich, properly balanced, and never heavy. That's rare! The service made the meal even better. My server, Deepak, struck that perfect balance...attentive without hovering. Turns out he's actually the owner and the chef behind the menu, and he took ten minutes tableside to chat with me. We realized he trained at IIHM in Hyderabad, which happens to be my hometown. That explains everything... the food isn't just made with passion, it's made with real technical training behind it. I also had the Jasmeen Dream cocktail, which was a great pairing. If you're anywhere near Columbus, this is a must. I'm already trying to figure out an excuse to go back.

When we walked in, the restaurant was filled with happy diners, many of whom appeared to be of Indian descent--which is always a great sign when you're looking for authentic Indian food. We ordered the classic butter chicken and beef korma (we substituted beef for the lamb), along with the garlic naan. The garlic naan was perfect--crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and the perfect vehicle for scooping up all that delicious curry and getting it straight into my happy belly! The sauces were absolutely amazing and packed with flavor. The servers were also very friendly, attentive, and professional, which made the experience even better. We were really happy with our experience at Taj on 5th and so glad we stumbled upon it while searching Yelp for great restaurants nearby. Definitely a wonderful find and a place we'd happily return to!

We were seated right away and surveyed the menu with a prodigious number of choices including robust tandoori offerings. I opted for the Mighty Shrimp Tandoor which may have been a bit overstated in terms of their girth or lack thereof. I chose 4 out of 5 on the hot scale and it was a full fledged 4 for someone who often opts for 4 or 5. So go low if heat is not your thing. My dining companion went with her favorite, Saag Paneer. Artfully presented, reported to be passible, not spectacular. Alas the rice ironically is where a notable shortcoming came together, literally. There were sticky clumps of rice that were not as warm as the rest and made us think perhaps we'd come too close to closing. With prices of $22 for the shrimp and $19 for the paneer one should hope these standard details are attended to even later in the evening. The servers were pleasant if a bit hesitant. So the good news was they were still open at 8:55 when the first couple places we tried were closing at 9. The food was serviceable but not one we will make a point of returning to.
