Not sure what the whole hype is about this place?? Someone please explain it to me. We first started with the French kiss roll. Everybody was raving about it on Yelp but if you have been to any decent sushi place this roll was just OK. Now the ramen..my boyfriend and I LOVE ramen and..the deluxe bowl was so disappointing. If you want to pay 12$ for a 50cts bag of instant ramen noodles, you picked the right place!! It is literally instant noodles with greens and mushrooms added to it.. Takara is a must try if you are looking for sushi in Logan. I usually just go for their half-price sushi roll menu, but there are many other options. This Sushi place is seriously great. The prices are a steal compared to other sushi with comparable quality. I have been going here since 2012 and it never disappoints. Great prices, solid menu, great value and always fresh. Service is quick. The curtain leading to the kitchen catches EVERYONE going in and out including cashiers, cooks, and the person who may have just tidy'd up the restrooms. Ok, I may get some hate mail for writing this but here goes. I grew up in Hawaii where fresh fish is always abundant. I am currently living in the SF Bay area so I'm also near the ocean and have access to some fresh seafood. I also did a study abroad to Japan for 1 year while in college so I've had really good, fresh, sushi as well - I'm talking about freshly killed still pulsing on your plate fresh seafood. So, I am a little particular when it comes to my sashimi and sushi. Now, I understand that Logan is rather far from coastline and it's a small town so certain sashimi and sushi may not be popular. For example, I doubt that sea urchin or abalone would be popular. So I get that they have to serve what the public wants. That being said, I'm sure that this place is probably the best place for sushi within a 25 mile radius. The clients that I had with me who lived in the area were raving about this place. However, after purveying the sashimi in the display case at the sushi bar, I opted to get the grilled salmon lunch - which was OK. If they had the more exotic sushi stuff I would've probably got some, but as I mentioned I don't think the regulars here would go for that. So I am basing my review on the salmon box lunch that I had. It was full of flavor, and the service here was very good. I think the discount specials that they have also make this place a good value. Is this a joke?? Our food didn't pass as edible, let alone pass as sushi. Have any of you had sushi before? EVERY ingredient in the five rolls of sushi we ordered was the cheapest quality you can find. Cheap ingredients- the fish IS NOT REAL!! The spicy tuna was ground up fish, the salmon and shrimp looked real but tasted off, and whatever crap they put in the rest of it tasted horrible and was the consistency of boiled egg yolk. I was sure there were no good sushi places in Logan. Somehow I missed this one! My husband and I stumbled across Takara while shopping at Natural Grocers one day and we loved it. We went back a couple weeks later, tried some different rolls, and love it even more now. Love the half off menu- Crazy Boy roll is our favorite we've tried so far, but every roll we've gotten has been great. They could use slightly more filling, but really, they're still delicious so I can't complain too much. Especially since the prices are so good! We referred some friends here and they reported back that they really liked Takara as well. We've had the same waitress both times (20-something blonde girl) and she has been great, so I have no complaints service-wise. read more

This is an excellent place for sushi if you are in the Logan area. It's small, in a strip mall but the atmosphere is great. I was there on a Tuesday night about 6 pm and the place was packed. Lots of young people and some families. I sat at the bar, which is a good way to go if you are by yourself. Prices are reasonable and service is good. Nigiri was a little stiff, not melt in your mouth quality but still good. Order the Crazy Boy roll. It's good (spicy) and they holler out "Crazy Boy" from the chefs whenever one is ordered. read more

As someone who comes from a town where there is sushi every 3 blocks on the street this place is just distasteful. I wouldn't expect top tier sushi in a place like Logan Utah but I was still shocked at how dry the sushi was. The rice tasted like it had been sitting out in the open for days. If anyone has eaten hard dry rice you would know what I'm talking about. I tried this place two times hoping the first time (which was 6+months ago) was just a bad day for them. But coming back several months later, they still havent improved. I would be cautious eating any kind of sushi that isn't fresh for obvious health reasons since it's easy to get sick from raw fish. Please be weary of coming here. This place should be banned. read more

Takara is about .25 miles from our house and we love coming here. We've tried other sushi places in the Cache valley and nothing is as good as Takara. I'm always surprised, and apparently I'm not alone in this sentiment, in that this little land locked town and restaurant serves consistently some of the best sushi. I really enjoy sushi because of this place and have tried it at several other places in several other cities like San Francisco, Seattle, Boston and always find myself thinking Takara is better. Super surprised to get decent sushi here! Sushi in landlocked states is always a gamble (I live in one so I know), but the rolls at Takara were delicious. We had a California, spicy tuna, Sunny, and Diablo. The Sunny was basically a California roll with mango and the fruit added a punch of acidity and sweetness that really complemented the other ingredients. This is my favorite sushi place. I love their anger management rolls, and their Aggie roll. I do have to say my favorite is the popcorn lobster roll, but I have a ton I haven't tried. Sushi was good, the service was fantastic. However, I should say my server was a dear friend I hadn't seen in years. The rolls were very tasty. We got a spider, Vegas, California and sunny roll, and salmon and Cajun tuna nigiri. Each roll was unique and tasty. The spider was different than any other I've had, no legs sticking out.... The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 is for the lack of non-deep-fried rolls. They had some, but most everything I saw was deep fried. The ratio of fish to rice on the nigiri was off too. Too much fish on them, just felt weird. Wasabi seemed a little watered down and the ginger was not the best I've had. However, those are very nit picky things, it was a great experience. One of the best sushi places I've ate in the state of Utah They have many under $5 rolls, daily specials, in specialty roles that can go as high as $29. I love their monkey balls. I have yet to taste anything I did not like. Their shrimp is very good not to battery just right. Wish they could expand their seating so get there early or go there late. They're open for lunch. No biggie they were fairly busy Wait staff: friendly and polite. The rolls: I got the red rock and spicy tuna rolls. Both were fairly small but consistent with sushi bars that run the '50 percent of' gimmick. The red rock roll was okay. Nothing amazing but not bad. The spicy tuna however is very good. Actually has some kick to it Decor/ambiance: it feels like they were going for fancy then hit their budget and just went with it. This place used to be my favorite but the service was terrible tonight. We didn't get seated even though it was slow. Then they took almost 20 minutes to just simply take our order. There were people seated after us and served before us. We were not asked how things were at all. When it came time for the bill.. they brought that in a run! When it comes to paying they are rushing but when it comes to taking care of customers they are taking their sweet old time. We visited our friend in Logan, she brought us here at Takara Sushi for a dinner. We ordered the vegetables tempura and cucumber salad as an appetizer. It was tasty and crunchy. Our entre' we ordered a beef bulgogi, seafood sushi platter, shrimp glass noodles and seafood soup with tufo. Everything was tasty and excellent service. The only reason why I gave 4 stars, I felt claustrophobic inside, tables and chairs closed to each others. You can barely heared the conversations of people next to your table. read more
