I LOVE this place! It's worth the travel from wherever you are in Cache Valley. The staff is excellent, very friendly and always make the trip worth it, even if just picking up your order to take home. The sushi is comparable to the best places in Logan, and always half off. If you're not a fan of raw fish, try the Kissaki roll with banana, crab stick, mango and mango sauce wrapped in soy paper. One of my favorites! They also have Naruto rolls and sashimi for those on a keto diet. Their walnut chicken/shrimp are gluten free. And the selection of Thai, Chinese and Japanese dishes make this a great place for all. We have eaten here for years and it is a family favorite. Tiny Spicey Chicken and Orange Beef are family standards but the favorite is Rice Noodle Singapore house style. There hasn't been a change to the food so still too sweet, spicy things not spicy, and "sushi" is only for people who think eating rolls is eating sushi. The cleanliness was severely lacking at the tables and in the bathrooms. No toilet paper in bathroom. Young guy we had as a server the past couple times made us not want to come back but apparently we are gluttons for punishment. Didn't get checked on and had to practically beg for everything from a spoon to refills. Other server is very nice and you can see her whipping across the floor does an amazing job. I did see her bring a cart out with food on it that had rolls on the bottom tier of the cart. I preferably wouldn't put food that near the floor while you are kicking up dirt. read more

I travelled up to Logan for a night. For dinner, Stanley and I tried Black Pearl for the first time. The outside looked okay. Very tall ceilings and a clean, updated look. There weren't many people there, so we were seated and served very quickly. We were given complimentary little chips along with a red dipping sauce. We ordered 2 sushi rolls and a combination plate. The sushi rolls were okay. They weren't the best. There was quite a bit of rice and the roll was kind of small for one of them. The other roll we got was bigger, but there was this weird minty? sauce on it. I'm not too sure what it was, but just wasn't really too much to our liking. The combination plate came with fried rice, 2 egg rolls, and some meat. The fried rice was a little bland. I was actually expecting Vietnamese spring rolls because on their menu it said "spring rolls", but what came out were egg rolls instead, which I guess makes sense since it is a Chinese/Japanese restaurant. Maybe an adjustment to the menu would help a little for that mistake. The meat tasted the best out of everything we ordered. It was decently seasoned and there was enough to eat with the fried rice. Overall, the service was decent. They came back to check on us and gave us more water. The food was not that good. The place was okay, wasn't the greatest either. I probably will not be coming back again, but everything overall was pretty average. read more

I really need to focus on portion control. I ordered enough food for two, perhaps three people...!!! After driving into town last night, I really was looking forward to dinner at the Black Pearl...but so you know, they are not open on Sundays. So I returned tonight. The restaurant is located very near my hotel, the Holiday Inn Express. I ordered the avacado egg rolls, and a cup of the hot & sour soup. The soup was perfect, but those avacado rolls...terrific. I've not had anything like these before...awesome. To follow, I ordered the chicken nine flavors. I didn't want rice so I added the crispy green beans. Both were very good. Because the chicken nine flavors is prepared with coconut, it was a tad bit sweet for me. All in all, a lovely meal in a very nice restaurant, and my server, Jessica, was attentive and took good care of me. I shall return. Hope to see you here. read more

Great sushi and half off all the time. When we have been eating sushi too much I love that Black Pearl has a full menu of equally delicious food. The Tiny Spicy Chicken is amazing and I pair that with lo mein. Portions are large enough to share and we are able to feed the whole family for a decent price. The chicken lettuce wraps are really good but I do wish they had a sauce similar to pei wei to go with them. Haha read more

This place is one of our go to places for Chinese takeout and sushi. First off, the waitresses are on top of everything, very kind and accommodating. The menu is broad with lots of options, prices are great for the portions. Fantastic flavor and quality. The best I've been to in Logan. I'm from Detroit, and lived in Phoenix, so I am used to big city Chinese takeout/sushi. The other Asian restaurants in Logan can't compare with most of their dishes. They've even given us a roll or two on the house recently which is so kind and generous! One of our favorite rolls is the Hot & Sexy roll - it isn't in the menu anymore but they will make it for you if you request it. Sweet and Sour chicken is awesome, so is ham fried rice. One of the best places to eat in Logan! I have never been disappointed by the Black Pearl. My favorite dishes from the American Chinese menu are orange beef, salt and pepper calamari, and sushi. The orange beef is so crispy and flavorful without being dry. The salt and pepper calamari is possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten. I crave it constantly! As far as sushi the spider roll is my favorite, very fresh. I would bet everything on the menu is amazing. They have a separate Chinese menu that has traditional recipes. I have only tried a soup and pork dish off that menu, but they were amazing!!! I am seriously dreaming of going back and buying the pork dish again. I will say that if you are unfamiliar traditional Chinese food then you might be less into the traditional menu as the textures and flavors are very different than American Chinese. The pork dish was very fatty compared to American pork dishes (and so frickin delicious). If you are a true foodie and willing to try something new, then I recommend the traditional menu for sure. read more

It may not look like much being in a strip mall, buuuut the food was really good! The Honey Walnut Shrimp and Black Pepper Chicken were yummy. The Lo Mein was better than average and the California roll, potstickers, and spring rolls were just average. That's the only reason for the four stars instead of five. I love the size of the portions, nothing ridiculously huge, but not "tasting size" either. A great find in Logan, Utah. For a small town, Logan has some wonderful restaurants. We were in the mood for Chinese food and were pleased with Black Pearl. The service was quick and attentive; restaurant was very clean and the waiters were friendly. We both ordered Combo meals which was such a great price. It came with a good size serving of the main dish, rice, soup, spring roll and two tempura shrimp. My husband thought the wonton soup was the best he has tasted because of the deep rich broth. I got the Tiny Chicken and hubby got General Taos chicken. Good stuff. read more

This place has good rolls. But that's where it stops. First their service is seriously horrible. I wish I was lying. As a customer, I'd expect to be greeted with a "hi" or a "welcome". But neither of those are available at this place. They have ONLY have 2 waitresses who sound like they hate the mere thought of living. And On top of that, they rush you. They don't ask if you still need more time to order. They just say, "I'm ready to take your order now." And last but not least, they serve some of their food soggy. 1/10 recommended. Trust me. Their two main competitors serve proper sized rolls at the same discounted price..and they're both honest about pricing. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Which I was excited for because I had been here for my birthday 2 years before and the hostess then was so sweet and it was really nice so I thought it was a great choice. I hadn't been here since. There were not many people that night so it was a perfect setting. Not busy. My review is mainly in regards to the service/server specifically. Food was fine. Our food came out very fast. But our server .... Idk if she was in a crabby mood or has a crabby life or just hated my bf some reason. She did not approach our table once to ask about our meal, refill our empty drinks, etc. That would have been fine , except she walked passed our table 6 + times to check on the other two tables beside us. My bf got up to ask her for a refill on his drink and for an extra water... She came back and loudly placed - dare I say slammed - his beer down. She came back with the check and she stood there a minute and he asked "oh did you want it now? I have to grab my wallet " and she threw her arms down and walked away. She came back a few moments later and noticed it was cash and said sharply we had to pay at the counter and again - walked away. So we continued talking and someone else came and got our cash and check. And took care of us. She was not personable at all. I said thank you and was very polite through out the interaction and nothing at all sweetened her disposition. I just wanted to come enjoy my birthday and get a birthday dessert.
