This is a small Japanese style department store offering cosmetics, food, and women's products. Every time I'm in the area, I like to stop by , sometimes I can find cute items that catch my eye. The store is bright and clean, and all the TV commercials are in Japanese, which adds to its charm. The brand selection is mostly mid range, with high end products being rare. Designer cosmetics are very limited. The staff here was helpful, and every time I asked for assistance finding a product, they do a great job. its a great place to pick up asian makeup~ I see disagreements amongst other reviewers, but I only had good experience with their customer service. They dont talk to you unless you need it, and promptly looks things up on their machine or takes you to where you need to go. You are greeted as you walk in and I always say "im just browsing" and that usually does the trick for wanting to shop alone. Price: its same with other makeup stores which means pricier than online shopping. I 100% would come here only if i need a last minute purchase or a gift with proper item packaging. It is cheaper to buy these things online but there is benefit to seeing products in person at a store. Selection: I think they have a great selection on items and often have the most popular on demand things or long time holy grails in cosme stores in japan. I dont think its right to review a business like this if you are unhappy with a certain product. You can review a specific product on their specific business page. Perfect came in and got the nail oil for me and my sister. I read complaints about rude service and marked up prices, however I like to say it beats having to wait if you need it in a clutch. I was helped by a sweet girlie at register, she had such cool nails and even recommended the nail tech she got them from. My boyfriend asked for the restroom and the lady stared at him and without saying anything just pointed up. I was browsing through the makeup and skincare for a good 30 minutes and not once did I get any help from the workers.They were just gossiping at the cash register the entire time. My mom never usually go to these cute little shops and was taking her time, but instead of being friendly, they gave her such a bitchy look. OMG!! This place is amazing! I felt like I was back in Japan shopping for Japanese make up. I was amazed on the endless of popular Japanese make up selections. The prices are reasonable and comparable to when you buy them in Japan. This store is so huge and just so overwhelming with the amount of Japanese make they offer. All the products are fully stocked and with all the color selections too. You can be in the stores for many hours. It's also great that they do have testers. But I just wish they refill the empty products. Some translation would I love Canmake make up. So I am so happy I no longer have to worry about where to get any Canmake make up. The staff was quite helpful. There was a make up my friend recommended but I didn't have the name. After describing what I'm looking for, the staff was able to find exactly what I was looking for. It took her awhile to look for it tho since the make up selection was endless. But she was still patient enough to help me look and I am forever grateful for her help because there was no way for me to locate it on my own. The employees here are the worst. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel. When they load a bag, they'll literally throw everything inside. They also don't post all prices so the same product can have wildly different prices week to week, and since there are no returns allowed, you'll get scammed. read more

They're an official retailer for CANMAKE and they definitely have much more than the local Japanese supermarket. Huge variety of colors and products. Big plus for me since CANMAKE is affordable quality. I came on a Sunday afternoon and the store was not crowded at all. Overall a pleasant experience. It seems like they are in the middle of expanding their store as well, so much more cosmetics and beauty supplies to look forward to. I think my only issue is that they have a FiveStars point award system and I am always getting rewards on it, but I can't read Chinese and there's no auto-translate function, so I have no idea what is going on sadly lol. read more

I have been coming here since covid & have never dealt with this kind of thing until recently. What bothers me is that I only see them being near ME & not other people. It really sucks that the shop people did NOT tell me about this free CANMAKE makeup event that as I was paying at the register right before he event started. They only hovered over to make sure we weren't stealing product. I've been a customer at Takashima locations for years. Fail customer service. The plus side to this Takashima shop vs the other one is since they hover over you so much (sometimes speaking to you in Mandarin if you are Asian) is you never have to look far for assistance. Just peek over your shoulder at the salesgirl eyeing you suspiciously. What is also dismaying if you are the "wrong" sort of Asian and don't read Chinese, they don't post translations in English of their store promotions/sales, nor will they inform you of any as they breathe down your neck. If you see what appears to be a sale sign, just ask. Don't assume. I ended up miscalculating prices as a result. Some promo made items the marked sale price ONLY of you spend over a certain amount. Otherwise, this is a decent place to find Japanese beauty goods (hopefully legit items, imported). I believe you'll find comparable or cheaper prices over at Tokyo Central or any of the local Japanese grocery stores, but I believe this shop may have a larger selection. read more

This store is so awful and rude, ushering us out because my buddy had a water bottle on them weird. I quickly purchased a sunblock (biore uv kids pure milk) without the employees help (because they offered none) while they waited outside for me. This sunblock (10.50) although it blends in eventually it leaves a too pale slightly too shiny finish. Heard so many good things about sunscreen here only to be sorely disappointed by the experience. This was during the end of Covid (around 1 and a half to two years past) where masks were not as required as before in stores. When we entered (majority of us wore masks expect two of them) there was no sign that said masks required for entry anywhere near the door or the inside of the store, so the employee rudely said you cannot be in the store and we said excuse me what do you mean. They explained no mask, no entry and made us leave then proceeded to grab a bottle that seem to contain a bottle of disinfectant to start spraying everywhere where my group and I were standing as we started to leave as if we were dangerous germs (we understand Covid was still being cautious) however the employee did it right in front of us and just kept looking as us even out the door which was rather rude. And I myself do like to shop there a lot since it's near my area I do have the say the store is nice, but the employees are the worst! Majority of them stand by the cashiers area just talking and staring at people who walk in then go back to talking as they're rather intimidating since they always seem to be annoyed. Feels like I'm back in Japan! Love the HUGE selection of Japanese cosmetics and snacks, nearly all at a great price! I was able to find all of the skincare, hair care, and makeup needs that I was looking for, much to my surprise, and found some new ones as well. Let me start off by saying I'm never coming back to this location again. I'm not one to write yelp reviews, but seeing how my experience mirrors others here it deserves one. I was walking in the store with my mask on and an older woman decided harass me to put my mask over my nose. This was ridiculous because a) it was completely covering my nose, and b) my friend had her mask down beneath her nose to smell samples and it wasn't covering her nose the whole time and she didn't say A SINGLE WORD to her about it. Incredibly rude and unprofessional! Right after I moved to another area, she obnoxiously sprayed the area I was in as well! As if I was a dirty person. She was going out of her way to try to sell her expensive products and get her a basket but treated me rudely. You would think that they would be desperate to be nice to customers to stay open, but they clearly don't care about their jobs very much with this attitude. The lady behind shiseido was so rude and arrogant, I went there cause I have to get last minute gift, the lady by the shiseido counter was not helpful at all, I asked the lady nicely if they have a gift set, and the rude lady was so not helpful and told me the gift set at the website is at the department store, I got the pictures from shiseido website, rude lady!!! And I asked them can I get any gift or cream that values $70-80, and the lady showed me some cream at counter, I just squinted my eyes and they lady again, panicked says "no touch, don't touch!" Horrible horrible customer services, We usually go to the Colima location since we usually get our Japanese skin care products there. We called the store before arriving to this location. The woman who works here doesn't answer us when we ask for help. When we ask her questions in English, she replies in Chinese, telling us that she doesn't speak English. I was shocked, so we spoke in Chinese. When I asked any questions she wouldn't answer us, instead she was playing on her phone. We felt that she proved no customer service, when we went to pay using my membership discount like we usually do, she said that they are takashima, but different with the Colima location. We were confused, so we asked her how to apply for the membership with them, she said it was $5.00. After a frustrating experience, we decided to give up and left store, and drove the location that we were used to shopping at. If you are looking for good customer service and professional suggestions from J beauty , I definitely don't recommend this store, as I won't ever come back again!!! read more

This store is very bright (inside and outside). If you're in the area and looking for cute stuff from Japan, this is a nice place to check out. They offer plenty of beauty products from Japan. Really a one stop shop for popular Japanese and a few Korean branded skincare lines, cosmetics, hair colors, stuffed animals, leggings/tights, and small accessories. The store is meticulously neat and always pleasant to visit. The sales associates are knowledgeable about the products. My only complaint about Takashima is as a whole they're overpriced, especially in comparison to the actual cost of the products in Japan and ordering online.
