Best way to describe my experience at Phil's today is with following example. Car shops in Columbus are like going to the hospital, the places are neat clean, with waiting rooms even popcorn machines and soda fountains. Before they do any actual physical work they always have to do some kind of "diagnostics test" and that is $100 up front before they even open their tool box. Then comes the long wait with a list of other things they think need to be done. OK, that said, I broke my drivers side car seat. I went to a local junk yard and got one out of a wreck. I asked the guy who took it out if he was interested in making a few extra bucks by installing it for me after hours. He said Yes, I said Ok and he never showed up. I then called the usual "big box" repair shops and they said they couldn't put in any after market products. I called the junk yard back and they suggested Phil's Collision in Galena. The seat had fallen completely backwards so I knew driving it up there from near Polaris was not going to be fun so before I did I called Phil's and asked if they could do it for the same price as the guy at the junk yard. Without hesitation he said he should be able to. I felt a little uneasy at the "should be able to" thinking, nuts it could be a lot more. This morning, I loaded the new seat into the back seat to help keep my front seat from becoming another back seat and headed for Galena. Now I come from a very small town in NW Ohio and spent more hours than I can remember in small repair shops so when I pulled up to Phil's I felt very much at home. Phil came out, took the keys, told me I could either walk on the nearby nature trail or sit in his office. Being exhausted from trying to load the seat into the car plus the agonizing drive up there I decided on the latter option. It didn't take long at all and when he came in he said, "How does......$ sound to you." I did a double take. I said, "I agreed to pay $X and thats certainly worth it to me' and he said, "No,$X is fine." He then said he'd dispose of the old seat. As I was driving home I knew I was relieved the job was done and I had saved some money, but there was a feeling/thought I just couldn't shake. It finally dawned on me, it wasn't the fact the job was done or I'd saved money it was sort of a realization that for the first time in a very long time, I'd just done business with honest man.

(Tansky gave us a better deal on a bigger car, but their sales staff treated us so poorly that we came back to Nissan to buy from people who weren't confrontational about negotiating.) The service department does a good job on both of our cars. We have an older Altima, and they have even suggested cheaper ways of fixing a problem (I.e. where to find aftermarket parts) when we are looking at an expensive repair. The staff listened and delivered exactly what we requested for a fair price. When we left the windshield tint had lots of bubbles and we were told they would flatten out with time and they did. We took a 4 week drive through the southern U.S. and the tint did exactly what we wanted. Cooled the cabin and blocked the bright sun without us looking like gangsters!

Extremely Disappointed With Ziebart and Regional Manager…read more I normally don't leave reviews, but my experience with Ziebart - especially with their regional manager, Connor - deserves to be documented so others are aware. I brought my truck in for Ziebart service, expecting professional results. Instead, the work was rushed and sloppy. They globbed the Ziebart product all over my paint, and I had to bring the truck back because the job was so poorly done. That alone was frustrating, but unfortunately it got worse. When I picked up my vehicle the first time, I noticed a new dent that was absolutely not there before. Ziebart immediately claimed it didn't happen in their shop, yet they never completed any prior-damage paperwork on my truck when I dropped it off. No walk-around, no notation, nothing. If they're going to deny responsibility, the very least they should do is document vehicles properly -- but they didn't. Trying to get answers from management was just as disappointing. The regional manager, Connor, was incredibly unprofessional. Instead of helping resolve the situation, he was dismissive and refused to acknowledge their mistakes or the lack of documentation. For someone in a leadership position, the attitude and lack of accountability were shocking. I expected a reputable company to care about their work and their customers. Instead, I left with extra hassle, a dent that wasn't there before, and zero responsibility taken by their management. I would strongly recommend doing your homework and thinking twice before trusting this location with your vehicle.

Had a Groupon--I didn't realize my car doesn't work with the type of oil it was for (they also fully explained why, and they are correct, I just never thought about it before)--but they still took it & adjusted it & even gave me a little discount on top, because my car uses a smaller amount of oil.
